Speaking of Reef..
I seriously doubt this.Mark this down now. When the AFL kicks off the season again - you will see hype like never before, this includes changes to the VFL comp, TAC U18, the draft will be bigger and most of all the game itself will nearly be 24/7. No matter how unfortunate today is, this will make the game bigger & better.

Between Lynch and Dunn, he'll fit right in lolMight need to sort his hair out before we draft him.
Please. Let’s not jump to silly over reactions hereIF there be a AFL at all
How so? McInness is currently rated as an early/mid first round prospect. There’s always the potential to trade up the draft order. If, as predicted, the NAB league doesn’t run... it probably guarantees the pies will take Reef McInnes with our first pick. Unless Ugle-Hagan is somehow available.
Everyone is in the same boat. I’m pretty sure we’ll be very comfortable in knowing what he’s worth.Hard to spend a 1st rd pick on a player that hasn’t played NAB league, but the pies have had a close look at McInnes for a while now so they know a bit about him already

What happens with the draft if no more footy is played this year?
Draft will go ahead. Clubs need their new players and need to get rid of their older ones. Though there probably will be a degree of conservatism with delistings, as it's hard to delist many guys if there haven't been matches played this year.
As it doesn't look realistic that the season will go ahead with virus cases continuing to skyrocket and showing no sign of slowly, the industry hope is that they'll be able to do some sort of tournament, something like the U18 Champs if they can at the very end of the year, that is if the law permits and things clear up by then.
The timeline of how long the virus will impact Australia is the direct factor in terms of whether there is any realistic chance of games and if so how many and what they'd look like.
Heard that Round 1 being played was really important because it netted the AFL $100millionI seriously doubt this.
Already talk of a senior list of 35, how does that make for a bigger draft?
Already, before virus, talk from the broadcast partners of a reduced deal in the future. They are not covering costs. AFL were talking to streaming giants in the US because they can see a reduced revenue stream from their traditional broadcasters.
Plus the $500million dollar loan they are seeking has to be paid back.

In the past we have cut players still in contract. If the lists are expected to be reduced for 2021 do you think that clubs will have the luxury to delist in contract players? Or will they be forced to just delist those out of contract?
No One for sure what is going to Happen so pretty much a Wait and See
The only definite is that there will be a draft this year.
That's the only thing that can be said with certainty.
And by having a draft, that doesn't necessarily mean it will look like what we've had in recent years.
Guess with Little Underage Footy there be lot of Punts on Un-Tried Kids and more Mature Age Draftees who are in State Leagues as seen more of them
Best not to be getting ahead of yourself in that regardUnfortunately, the only way at the moment is if you get it and survive then your body will develop it's own antibodies

Melbourne would be pretty happy to keep last years draft order.
The fairest way is weighted lottery system, everyone has a chance at selecting pick 1 or pick 18 (increased odds based of previous ladder but not guaranteed), if your lucky well so be it.
Whilst it would be a shame to miss out on the occasional year like Stephos first, but the way I see it, for every Stepho there 20 guys who are drafted, chewed up and spat out of the system before they are mentally, physically and emotionally ready. Even Stepho last year put up a pretty good case for being too immature.
Plus, I think it will help lower leagues as it will keep kids in state leagues for a year or two longer.
Ideally, I wouldn't mind keeping it open to 18 years but with a restriction on numbers that clubs could take - like they used to have with 17 year olds.
None of what I'd like matters thought, because it's been pretty obvious for a while that the AFL are pretty happy with the current system and are just looking to tweak it for academies.
How do you factor in all those teams who've traded in future picks in 2019? Do you just allocate each team against where their picks were placed after the 2019 ND incorporating those trades and then do your lottery?
