Guess they either Call it Off or just go with what info Clubs Have.

Though with the Clubs and AFL Losing Money they see it as Pretty Minor thing at the Moment

They won’t call it off. Clubs will go with the info they’ve gathered in 2019 on this draft class. It could actually be beneficial for us, because if Reef really is becoming the dominant force that North bloke said he was during the practice match vs tassie then he could well have been a top 3 prospect by the end of the year instead of looking like a early mid 1st rounder.

Hope this virus is dusted quickly and they can salvage something

I 100% Agree Horaceg hopefully they can find something Soon as Possible so we can give Kids a Chance of Making it onto a AFL list

I would love nothing better but a vaccine looks so far off at the moment, maybe not even this year.

Wasn't last week they where saying they where have real Progress with a HIV and Malaria Vaccines helping Kill to Virus?

China is getting back to a more normal state, 1 new case today, domestic travel returning, all temporary hospitals closed. If we can shut it down here, its about people doing the rights things and it could be over domestically in AU which means AFL could resume as we have no international complications.

They may help after you get the virus but are not a preventive vaccine to stop you getting it, I believe.

The best thing they can do is just stage the draft as normal and clubs have to pick based on interviews and 2019 footy.

It will massively advantage the club with later picks but nothing you can do, cancelling the draft won't work.

Not sure if we can trust statistics from China. They are still having deaths and new cases why would they go back to normal life which is what makes this thing explode. They have 39 new cases and 9 new deaths.

So it lasted 3-4 Month then in China?

No, it won't advantage them at all. It will make the draft more of a lottery, and therefore a slightly higher chance than previous years of getting a good prospect late, but it certainly won't advantage later picks. Put it this way, no one will be trying to trade to get later in the draft rather than earlier...

Would there be any Trade and Free Agency Periods with the Uncertainty of Contracts at the Moment?

The simplest draft system for the next National Draft (assuming no more senior and junior football etc) is keeping the same order as per last draft with no priority picks.

Simple and fairest possible way forward.

I think they might lift the age limit to U19 for the next two seasons to allow anyone not drafted this year and ones who will miss out on their bottom aged year the same opportunity to show their potential before the recruiters.

Plenty of players not highly rated or even on the radar now would have elevated themselves throughout the season so watching and analysing tapes from last season will have it's limitations.

Another question is how the order will be decided with plenty of future picks traded between clubs last year riding on it.

I don't mind the idea of a lottery but one split in two. One drawn for the bottom 10 and another for the top 8.

Nothing could be worse than seeing a Richmond, West Coast, Geelong or GWS drawn out at the number 1 selection and supporters of those sides would feel the same about us.

Unfortunately, the only way at the moment is if you get it and survive then your body will develop it's own antibodies

With less information there's a higher chance of good prospects slipping to later in the draft, so 1st round draft picks are slightly less valuable than previous years.

I manage properties in China, one office in Wuhan was expected to be opened today But thought it prudent to leave closed for another week. Things are much better than a month ago.

Mark this down now. When the AFL kicks off the season again - you will see hype like never before, this includes changes to the VFL comp, TAC U18, the draft will be bigger and most of all the game itself will nearly be 24/7. No matter how unfortunate today is, this will make the game bigger & better.
