Might be a big bodied mid ready now, with a low ceiling, who slips because of character concerns
There's a big bodied U18 SA midfield prospect Sturt's Tom Lewis I'd be keeping my eye on throughout this season, only a around the 180cm mark but very strongly built already, hasn't been touted as much as some of the SA boys but his inside work is 1st class and is also prepared to run hard and get involved on the outside. State Leagues or AFL listed mids not getting the opportunities they deserve in the AFL probably the more likely if we want someone capable of playing at the level from the get go.

Unpopular view but we don’t need lukosius. We need genuine midfield a grader. With Sloane possibly leaving our top line mids are
Crouch (23)
Crouch (24 and injury prone)
Gibbs (30)

Then we have greenwood, CEY, Douglas(getting near the end). We need A grade mid talent and there doesn’t seem to be a whole heap banging down the door in the SANFL.

Agree we need mids but still possibility of trading or drafting them

I’d love Lukosius but I understand your point. Landing Rankine AND Rozee is the dream. Our three top 20 picks, next year’s first rounder plus whatever we get for Sloane/Lynch has to be on the table.

You want Atkins too, Collingwood? He’s yours. You need a tall forward to replace Lynchy, Gold Coast? JJ is now a Sun.

C’mon live draft trading, baby - let’s get it done.

*Gibbs is only 29; let’s not age him prematurely.

Not unpopular with me..

We need good quality mids more than forwards imo. We need one or two of rozee, rankine, hately or any other good quality mids emerge throughout this year..

Lukosious would be fantastic but it’s an absolute fantasy to believe we can get him at this stage unless we or Melbourne come bottom 5 which is ludicrous talk. If Sloane goes, looking increasingly likely, he’s not going to a bottom 5 team to play his last 5 years of footy he’s gonna go to a team that can be a finals contender so no luck their either.

Tell lukosious we badly want him, we’d love to build our new forward line around him and Fogarty... but we know we haven’t a chance... but if he wants to come home in the future (homesick) we’ll move mountains to get him..

I thought this is why we have so many draft picks this year

I think so. Good list management. Dont gamble on Lukosius but keep him on your radar and go for the best 3 mids.

I hope Brad Crouch is now seen as a bonus if he plays rather than a vital part.

Lewis is a ripping kid. Super professional, a great leader down to Earth and would fit in to our system brilliantly. I'm just not sure he has AFL tools. He is just good at most things, but not great at anything.

I agree that Lukosius isn't a need, but by God if he is available you grab him.

We could end up with an amazing stack of talent out of this draft. Need to be smart about the use of our picks and ensure we finish with at least 2 A grade mids. Great opportunity to re-stock the team and continue pushing for premierships over next 10 years if we get it right.

Not so much that Jack isnt a need, he is a talent. Grab him most certainly but I base my thoughts on him going before 5.

I would guess pick 1 or 2. He's just that good. Our forward line is already stacked though, so where he plays initially would be a struggle. If he is available though you pick him, put him in the team and work the rest out around him.

Based on his workrate , if , if we managed to grab him I would transition him through the Lynch role then as KPFs drop off he and Fog become the pillars for the 20s

We'd all love Lukosious but I think if we end up with four picks inside 20 - you spread them around... back ourselves in to nail three of the four picks, Fogarty, Crouch bros, Doedee, McGovern, Laird, Milera, Murphy... that's a pretty formidable core 24 and under. There's a few promising players beneath that too.

There's no doubt we need to regenerate our midfield as a matter of semi urgency (even if Sloane stays).

We should be already forward planning for Lukosius for 3 years time assuming there is no way of landing him this time around. Put the wheels in place to ensure he tells his drafting club he is homesick after his 2nd year and that he wants to be traded to the Adelaide Crows. Then assuming that clubs says no, over his 3rd year he refuses to sign a contract and the parent club are resigned to trading him to the crows or losing him in the draft, but as he has said he is homesick and only wants to go home to adelaide, it will narrow the field of potential suitors. Of course, there would have to be a huge financial remuneration pledged to him and maybe his mum and dad get a mansion in Springfield :)

This guy will be a real bonus for us especially if we nominate for him in the draft and no one bothers picking him till well into the 40-50’s..

What it does mean if he tipped to go past pick 20, we can afford to group some of our early picks to gain a better position in the draft. Knowing we have a potentially good player later.
And if he elevates himself into 1st round contention its a bonus,
