With all these picks likely to be burnt by academy selections thought I'd do an updated list on where our picks actually sit. Obviously we may not take 5 selections and not all picks may be used by others.

I was surprised to learn the other day that whilst 1st rounders are easily the best picks, as many third rounders have gone on to play 100 games as second rounders.

And how it currently looks with our list spots:

32 - Dwyer -> Frost (upgraded)
33 - Keeffe -> Howe
34 - Thomas -> Treloar
35 - Young -> Aish
36 - Karnezis -> pick 27 (26)
37 - Seedsman -> pick 66 (49)
38 - Kennedy -> pick 77 (57)
39 or Rookie 6 - Freeman -> pick 83 (63) or rookie pick
40 or Rookie 5 - Frost (rookie to be upgraded) -> pick 84 (64) or rookie pick

Rookie 1 - Abbott
Rookie 2 - Gault
Rookie 3 - Armstrong -> Keeffe ?
Rookie 4 - Manteit -> Thomas ?

Rookie Category B 1 - Cox
Rookie Category B 2 - not used -> Wyatt
Rookie Category B 3 - not used

i'm not sure i've got it all understood, but it seems like with the academy teams having most of their picks after our first one, the talent available at our pick will be a bit diluted compared with a situation where the academy teams having multiple picks before our first?

You have Frost down twice.

Methinks Brendan Abbott will be upgraded from rookie to main list.

Yeah, pretty much all clubs with academy picks have traded down in the draft, so in terms of players available 27 is worth a bit less than it was coming into the trade period. On the other hand all picks after 30 are worth more.

Frost is currently a rookie occupying the senior 40th list spot. He will be upgraded to the senior list, with that 40th spot able to be filled by either a national draft selection, an upgraded existing rookie or a rookie draft selection. Hope that makes sense.

Was reading Geelong expect the draft to only go 60-70 deep, therefore from 55 onwards it will probably be Geelong, GWS, Collingwood, Geelong, GWS, Collingwood and so on...
