Who misses out if Yarran is in the 22?

This would be my 22 at the moment.

FB: Carazzo Jamison Bower
HB: Scotland Waite Thornton
C: Simpson Murphy Gibbs
HF: Grigg Walker Yarran
FF: Betts Fevola Cloke
FOL: Warnock Judd Stevens
INT: Kreuzer, Fisher, Houlihan, Russell/ Robinson (undecided)

EMERGENCIES: Browne, Wiggins, Hampson

Have you seen a bit of him TRG?

Yeah I've probably seen him about 8 or 9 times in my travels and a few more again on DVD. The more I think about the pick the more I warm to it. I probably would have taken his teamate Brad Mangan before him but it would have been a close call. I see him being anything from a HB, wingman or HF. Beautiful mover who has a great little side step to move through traffic. Kicks well and has excellent hands off the deck. Has the occasional short step which is a concern but he's still very young and it's something he can overcome.

Cheers :thumbsu:

I was quietly hoping for Mangan too. Just from that highlights video, Tiller seemed to rush a few kicks and sky the ball a bit because of it....

But like I said, that's just from watching one set of highlights ;)

For all those who wanted Rich over Yarran....I suggest a certain Mitch Robinson will end up decent compensation for missing Rich.....he doesn't have some attributes of Rich but plays the game hard and won't leave anything out on the field....we can almost have our cake and eat it too with the way things panned out :thumbsu:, add O'Keefe at 65 and Xmas has come a bit early this year :)

Look after Chris Yarran for us lads, as he will be joining his mate Nicnat in a couple of years. :thumbsu:

Or maybe, just maybe NicNat will be joining his mate at Carlton, just like our very own Captain, Chris Judd, when he realizes there's no hope at West Coast.;)

When do we get to see Yarran in a Carlton polo top?

Not a polo, but something i quickly whipped up....

We will take Josh back as well

I'm happy with Yarren and Robinson at pick 40 because it seems he was a bargain however I'm not sure about O’Keefe or Tiller just because we needed to go a lot taller and give ourselves some depth in the forward line and back line. We may have missed the boat in terms of picking up a decent KPP player as next year the draft is affected by the GC and because this was the draft to grab a KPP, but we completely ignored them which is going to cost us.

I don't see how we will do any real finals damage and be real contenders for a flag in future years without someone else who will help out Fev and without another solid backman. I mean where are our goals going to come from. Teams know to double team Fev and we can't rely on him to kick 8 goals a game to win. What happens when he gets injured? Who comes in? Edwards or hartlett? These two are chumps and they are not in our best 22.

How about our young and upcoming backline Jamison, Bower, Thornton and Waite. These guys are all in our best 22 and it is clear that Thornton is not up to it, he needs to play as a third tall. So if any of Bower, Waite or Jamo is out who comes in? Our only options are Setanta and Austin, that is it. Austin carries a big question mark and it is debatable if Setanta is in our best 22 so this shows the lack of depth we have. However every other position on the ground seems to be looking good in terms of depth.

I have a few question marks about Robinson over Cornelius and also after hearing Wayne Hughes speaking about our plans to develop Yarren into a midfielder I don’t understand why we wouldn’t just take rich.

It's a big read I know.

Over the moon with our selections today. Think WH and the boys really out-did themselves today. A superb effort. Certainly with their first 3 selections, you can see the club have made a focus on kids that can kick, and hit up targets on a regular basis. Tiller is a little more speculative, although, being bottom aged, could really come on next year.

To be honest I was hoping to get Hurley. But still judging by the comments on the Carlton boards it seems we have done well.

I would say Yarran, Warnock and Robinson will get a Gig this year. And it wouldn't suprise me if Okeefe makes a few appearances either.
Fev, Betts and Yarran will be an Awesome combination. Throw in Kreuzer, Waite and Cloke in the CHF role and we will have a dangerous looking forward line.
I could easily see Robinson slip into a wingers role, he looks very impressive. And Warnock should give us a few more taps to advantage.

Warnock taps down to Judd, Judd goes wide to Robinson in the clear , Robinson takes a bounce and spears it to Fev. Opposition spoils mark, Yarran roves the spoil in front of the pack, bourkes two player and slots through his third for the day:). Go The Blues!!

Ratten has already stated that Sentana is a major part of our plans for the backline. At 200cm by definition he is a KPP.
Then we have Warnock in the ruck which provides for Kruezer as a KP forward. Nobody stays in the one position these days so they will all mix and match with Hampson coming off the bench and Cloke in the FP. These real talls need small quicks at their feet and that's Yarran & Betts in the foward half and Browne, Carrazzo and/or Armfield in the back half.
We now have at least 33-35 players who (if not injuried) will have the right to claim a game. There are only 484 player/matches opportunities but 770 player matches available. There are going to be those who will want to leave because of lack of opportunity.
The unfortunate thing this coming year is going to bring is there will be a number of players playing well in the Bullies who will not be able to get a game in with the Blues.
