I used to think Beau was a complete spud and was suffering from the pick 6 curse, but he's actually been pretty good this year if you've watched him.

Thorp is a combination of not having come good yet (as with most KPPs) and being ruined by injuries. He's out for the year again too.

Probably the worse pick there is Myers. He's fully fit and can't get picked.

Rubbish Assessment.
Dowler is only getting a game because of your injury problems down back. As soon as Gilham and Croad get healthy then Dowler will go back to rotting away at Box Hill.

Thorp has had his injury problems but so do a lot of young players. He has been in the system for a year longer than Myers yet somehow he deserves to have his jury out and Myers doesnt.

How would you know if he is fully fit anyway? And he might be in and out of the side a bit but he played OK in round 7 at The Dome if you remember that night:thumbsu:

Danny Myers is yet to play a game for us yet. Infact i think we must have cut him before the start of the season because looking at our list from the past 2 years i don't see him anywhere.

David Myers though showed a lot of good signs last season playing off halfback and slotting into the midfield occasionally. Has been a bit disappointing this season but with Dempsey fit he hasn't had the freedom off half back he did last year. Still think he is an exciting kid on the list though who will develop into a very good player for us and will show you up as the gug you are

Why did you stop at 2003? You can go back almost to the beginning of the Draft era with this...

2002| Steven Salopek. Hugely promising footballer who has been blighted massively by a range of serious injuries since being taken as a bottom-ager.

2001| Ashley Sampi. Oh lawd.

2000| Dylan Smith. Neeext.

1999| Damien Cupido. Ridiculous natural talent, no application.

1998| Murray Vance. Uhhhm?

1997| James Walker. Awfully quick, awfully ordinary.

1996| John Rombotis. Brisbane didn't want him as part of their merger, but he was worth #6?!

1995| Daniel Healy. Gun SANFL player at least...

1994| Robert McMahon. Not even Wikipedia knows who he is.

1993| Trent Cummings. Not Scott Cummings.

1992| Robert Pyman. Talented enough, ruined by injuries.

1991| Paul Burton. Another Wikipedia redlink.

1990| Allen Jakovich. Ding ding ding! Finally a player who 1) was genuine elite and 2) made it on the park more often than not (to begin with at least).

2008 - Chris Yarran
2007 - Danny Myers
2006 - Mitchell Thorpe
2005 - Beau Dowler
2004 - Tim Williams
2003 - Kepler Bradley

David Myers is better than all of them

Thanks DT for ading to the list. No need to point out that this pick is poison. Look at North they picked Pyman and D Smith:o

Who the hell is "Danny" Myers???

I guess he's so shit, that who cares what his first name is hey?

Here Trav, you obviously don't bother reading other peoples posts as you would have noticed this response previously. If you had read it, you may have come up with a better opening paragraph instead of that shit you dished up.

It's actually over 2 games a year, but he's had most of them this season.

He'll be a gun when we get our side up and going. A tall wingman who can float into defence and make spoils :thumbsu: or go forward and take a grab :thumbsu:
If he can't make your team now, how will he get in when you're up and going?

So Dowler's pretty good after playing 6 games in 4 years but Yarren is crap after playing 3 games in his first season as an 18 yr old ???
Typical podgeyhodge logic .................

Dowler's been unlucky with injury. In a good Hawthorn side he would be the 3rd defender/wingman. A Paul Bower type, but with much more ability and class about him.

Whereas pick #7...

2001. David Hale
2002. Andrew Mackie
2003. Kane Tenance
2004. Jordan Lewis
2005. Patrick Ryder
2006. Joel Selwood
2007. Rhys Palmer
2008. Daniel Rich

Little bit more luck there, particularly in more recent years.;)

2nd youngest of the bunch at 19 and played the 3rd most number of games. Incidentally, Tom Williams is the only player to have played more games than Myers in '09. He's too skinny to hold down a midfield role and is easily pushed off the ball. Once he grows into his 190cm frame you'll find that he's a player of high class that can play both midfield and half-back.

Fair to say Thorp has been the worst pick, 2 games. He wasn't injured when Hawthorn were without a CHB and FB earlier this season. He couldn't force his way into the forward line so Hawthorn were trying to turn him into a backman - FAIL! ;)

Other than Tenace, all of them are pretty good, established senior players or promising youngsters in Palmer and Rich.
