I'd expect a 1st round pick plus a 2nd round pick. The 1st rounder would have to be top-10.

Not a good deal.We played Brisbane at the Gabba and it was a very close match. We were lucky to get away with a win. I think they will make the top 8 and suprise some people.spice18 said:If you seriously believe that, you must be from another planet, or maybe you are talking about a different premiership. They are struggling and may most probably NOT make the 8, and you still classify them as a premiership chance? How about showing some respect for genuine 'feather' premiership fancies like your mob, swans, eagles and magpies?

Post season will be VERY interesting in 2006.

arrowman said:Fair enough, but the trouble is that other clubs are aware of the quality of the draft also, and we'd probably have to give up two good young players, or one young gun, for one single digit draft pick - one or two known quanitities for one unknown quantity.
Saying we should trade for draft picks is not as simple as "make it so".

How many times do you hear " Are you crazy ? I wouldnt trade player x for draft pick #<insert number here>. He's a deadset champion and an integral member of our squad". Whatever.
Some people have some warped views on the players in our squad.
Apparently they're all champions and all our draftees are the next wonder kids.
LukeHodge15 said:true. but a question for u ? who was the last superstar footballer that was taken outside the top 20 over the last couple of years. drafting isnt an exact science but its slowly getting a better strikerate as the kids are being scrutinised more and recruiters have learnt from their screw ups of yesteryear.
LukeHodge15 said:i think meeson-maric could be ur chance at getting a top 10 pick. packaging one of them with a midfieder could get u that top 10 pick.
do u reckon clubs would bite at [ rielly and meeson ] in a package deal. what would u expect for that ????
"Package for Gibbs" means "package for the No 1 pick" which is the only way you'd guarantee getting Gibbs. So the spooner is the only club you'd be dealing with. If that's Essendon, they've already said they won't trade their picks (OK, they might change their minds). In fact any of the likely spooners, I would say, would be very reluctant to trade away the No 1 pick in this so-called "super draft". Quality package though they are, I dunno if Reilly and Meesen would justify giving away the No 1 pick.Crow-mo said:Reilly and Meeson would be a package for Gibbs, not a "top 10" pick.

Whether they have currency or are viewed as pawns in a very well constructed Craig gameplan ...don't know.
What I do know was that very few of our players from the premiership teams that were delisted were in fact picked up.
West AdelaideNo it wasn't anything so rich...if my memory is correct it was Sampson, but anyways the vast majority went off into the AFL sunset without much interest. The Crows Truth said:timing issue WW. WHen were they delisted (or attempted to trade)? Certainly not immediately after the flags.. didnt Collingwood make a huge offer (draft pick2 or 3) for some of our peripheral premiership ployers? if so, that proves the point

Meh, I know I'm saying nothing but negative things on this threadsorry.

Essendon won't do that deal. No way. They are potentially giving up Bryce Gibbs, who is probably doing even better than Meeson at SANFL level(You can't compare them two because they're different type of playeres and big men usually take longer to develop) BUT Gibbs is still playing some very good games at 17 years of age. Also pick 20 can give you a pretty good player as well, with this draft so deep, a pick 20 this year could've been a pick 10 last year. Essendon would be stupid to consider that trade- well in my opinion.Gets! said:I would take Pick 1 and 20 for Reilly and Meesen.
Means we would get Gibbs + another promising youngster as well as another with our Pick at 16.

Crow-mo said:no what I am saying is, that IF you packaged reilly and meeson you'd be looking for the no.1 pick, not some pick 9 rubbish that might be a bust.
you wouldn't do it for less, that's all.
