Latest seems to be.

1. McGrath - Quayle now running with an article
2. Taranto - Met with them just recently
3. Mcluggage - Wont be able to overlook him
4. SPS - Some cryptic clues on the RTD podcast from Clayton has raised him as a player he was talking about.
5. Ainsworth?

Reminds me back to this post from a guy who gets some Carlton mail now and then...

If true you wonder if all the SPS talk was to get GC to go early on him and leave the player we really wanted.

All speculation of course. Now doubt it will all change before I can even hit "post reply".

That would be the worst outcome for us in my opinion. If that unfolds I could easily see SOS calling out Hayward instead of Ainsworth. Just a bit of a gut feel more than anything else. Ainsworth is a short guy with speed, vertical jump, and some tricks but is largely unproven through the midfield (except some late game time there). Hayward is a guy who played most of his junior footy through the midfield and moved forward later. Is taller and more likely to turn out to be that guy who dominates through the midfield and in the air up forward (just my opinion). Moves well through the midfield (see the All Stars game). Either way I am not worried about pick 5. We will land a great player there this year.

Hmm. An interesting take on the Whitfield saga:

I still hope they lose their draft picks :)
The opinion of another ill informed journo, that heard from a friend of a friend who's cousin heard from a girl who knows another girl.....................well you can see where I'm heading.
Tell the AFL to strip them of their first round picks and hurry up.
Why if they have penalised 2 GWS officials have they not dealt with the club??
Had it been the Blues, we would all be mourning what could have been.
I get the feeling that GWS will go into Friday's draft with all picks in tact.

It could turn out that way Dravid....but Two Planks is the guy who for 3 months insisted that Jake Carlisle was already signed, sealed and delivered to Carlton.

If I don't get a like out of it from Tony Lynn 15, I'll quit bigfooty.

I believe I may have needed to read 14 pages previous to truly understand this one.....I liked it! :) :thumbsu:

I beg to differ...

Sam Petrevski-Seton won't be taken by Essendon and GWS have their sights elsewhere.
I can't see him being taken by a Queensland team, given he has openly stated that he wants to play his football in Melbourne.

Taranto though may be taken at the pick #4, leaving us with little real decision to make.....SPS....come on down. :)
Am i alone in thinking that SPS is akin to Daniel Kerr. In attributes that is?

I still think Bris take Ainsworth. There not gonna pass on someone who has said he wants to go up there. I think they also need Ainsworth more than Mcluggage as that small forward/mid

There are avenues to get one of Brodie, Taranto, Petrevski- Seton, Ainsworth, McCluggage and maybe Setterfield. So good to be kept guessing until the night. Yes, some phantom drafts will give a clearer indication but how certain will they be? Lots of cards being held firmly to chests right now.

We could use all of these guys so can't really be disappointed.

My preference would be SPS, but can see anyone of that group being 10+ year players.
All things considered, we really can't lose can we..

I know McCluggage will be tempting for Brisbane, but could see them taking Ainsworth still as he had a great working relationship with Schache last year in the U18's and has already said he is keen to go to Brisbane.
Would GCS pass up Mcluggage?

agree here.

the only way McCluggage slides to us is if Lions bid for Bowes forcing CG to use pick 4 and then select Ainsworth. This of course is assuming GWS select Taranto at 2.

if McCluggage is there we select him without a heartbeat. if not, bid on Setterfield first then select SPS.

Certainly if McGrath goes at #1, I can see GWS going in a different direction. After that anything could happen. Clayton did talk about sticking to players that have been rated highly the whole time. That could be SPS but it also could be Ainsworth. Both were rated potential number 1s since last year. Brodie was rated a potential number 1 since early this year. Could be any of those.

I think Brisbane will stick to Ainsworth. I feel they are almost committed to him. That still leaves SPS for Gold Coast as he has been rated longer than McCluggage.

All comes down to Essendon taking McGrath and GWS going outside the consensus top 2. If they opt for a goal kicking mid, would they go Taranto over McCluggage?

I think if McGrath is selected by the Dons, GWS will select Ainsworth or Taranto. Given how solid their midfield group is, they are wanting to target impact players

Lions would hope GWS select Taranto but i feel GWS will get Ainsworth to replace Stevie J.
now for one of McCluggage or Taranto to slide to us assuming we are looking at them before SPS, Lions to bid on Bowes to force CG to get him with pick 4
