Mind you Quayle also suggested tonight that we would be looking at a midfielder at our 2nd pick when asked about Drew. Ridley isn't a midfielder ... yet.

Fox are saying based on Postal Votes SPS is clearly ahead by 5 points.

That late Twitter barrage has had no effect.

Early reports, unconfirmed.....

What I'm hearing is there are 5 in the running, now we may be going for one of those 5, or maybe not.

Or we may go for someone outside that 5, or we may play it safe and go back into the, if you will 'Good 5'.

Obviously there is plenty of speculation and as a man in a tracksuit top, tie and jeans just confirmed exclusively ......'Yeah'.

Back to you, Brian at the Sports Desk.

Firstly, picking a talent that is rated inferior to another because of race would only be a reflection on our clubs inability to set up the person with the right support and tools to succeed.

If this is the case, it should be the highest priority to fix. Every single employee at Carlton football club should feel like they have arrived "Home" when they get to work. It's a lot easier to do hard work when your doing it for something you generally care about and not just a pay cheque.

Once we rate the draft, and we think that we have the most talented guy in the draft available at our pick. We don't discuss "what if's" at that point. We go ahead a make every tool available for that person to succeed as a person and Carlton football player. End of.

Secondly, my opinion counts for very little, I really know nothing apart from reading people opions both on here and the paid media. And watching a couple of highlights on YouTube.

I like both Taranto and SPS. Both available at 5, I will pick SPS. He is class. Put him in full time football program with correct diet and the right teachers/mentors he is the best player out of the draft. A midfielders; midfielder with pace. With ball in hand has every tool available to use it for the best possible outcome for our team. Zero limitation. Not many you can say that about. A slight frame becomes a concern when your skill level is average. When you are ahead of the pack, your lack of size is of no disadvantage.

Taranto in the mould of Luke Parker is an exciting prospect. The hype around him learning exponentially more is overstated. He made the decision at 15yo to pursue AFL. His basketball would have been an advantage to his progress so far. Not a disadvantage as some people suggest.

In saying that, he's combination of speed and power is Judd like, and the ultimate weapon in today's AFL. I have read knocks on his two way running. With a AFL standard defensive structure and he will be taught where to run. Using running patterns to run smarter and not ball chase. If he hasn't got back to his spot it will up to put on field leaders to make sure he only does it once. With a 15.9 beep his endurance can't be an excuse. His numbers through out the year have been as good as anyone's. The 42 score involvements through out the carnival particular impressive.

Scrimshaw the defender is a player Carlton don't need. But the potential of scrimshaw the midfielder is enticing. He's invasive movements (as people have stated) are straight from The Bonts hand book and seems to possess the same composure. This is the player that has the potential IMO. I hope GWS are made to pay a reasonable price for him. Better still, Essendon take him with Pick 1(Won't happen).

Speaking of GWS though, Don't be surprised if they take SPS at 2 and then Scrimshaw at 5. My Roughie anyway.

Maybe if anyone knows where Scrimshaw is staying they can go get him drunk and then ask him to drive you to the nearest McDonald's, we might get him at 25.

I can't remember a draft like it. The top 6 prospects are pontential number 1 picks. Going to be interesting re-doing this draft many times in the future.

Scrimshaw is not a GWS academy player.

I hope SOS has been practicing SPS' player number.

Isn't it punched into a computer now and read out by Gil or the coach for first rounders?

With Taranto being a 1% chance of being available, I've changed my who do I want to Scrimshaw, followed by Brodie. Still think we will go with SPS though.

Hopefully the Cripps injury is a blessing in disguise and scuttles any ideas in taking a left field option like Hayward at 5. Would much rather a couple of bonafide midfielders with #5 & #25.

Completely agree.
We need more talent and depth in this area of the ground.
Especially when next years draft looks good for more KPP talent.

Yeah, but he still has to punch it into a computer.
:)

I would think they just select the name now. Just have to make sure you select the right one. Probably has an 'are you sure?' screen or an online cart. :)
