I rate Crozier. Think he has big upside. Good user of the ball, can kick bags of goals, can play up the ground, has a huge leap, is quick, and has a pretty decent tank but just needs to impact games more which can come with being in a professional system.

We still need some genuine small/medium forwards ala O'keefe/Didak/Thomas etc who can play off a HFF and kick goals.

Masten a forward? There goes your credibility. Nico is in his twilight and we have been rotating mids who can't play forward through the HFF for the past two years without success.

I too rate Crozier, but I don't think we need him as a player. I could see us taking Markworth before him, and Masten has been playing a high half-forward role for both West Coast and East Fremantle.

Masten's does a horrible job at HFF. He's a pure inside mid like Swift being played out of position to fit in the team and to learn new skills.

The only HFF we have are Darling (questionable), Hill, Weedon, Nicoski. Still needs some young talent there.

We have too many talls in the forward line.

Lynch, Kennedy, Darling, Naitanui (when resting). Should have offloaded Lynch to somewhere for something imo.

Our mobile tall forward line is central to our game plan. Lynch had his best year yet and was absolutely sensational, crazy talk to trade him.

Spot on mate:thumbsu:

Masten, nor Swift, nor Stevens is a HFF. Ebert was our only young mid capable of playing this position and now he's fu**ed off. Unfortunately our young inside mids are not particularly versatile, but at least when given an extended run as pure IM's, they're certainly capable of performing at a high level.

Also doubt that Darling, Hill, or Nicoski will be A grade HFF. Weedon's more suited to an IM or third tall imo. You forgot to list LeCras, Strijk and Hams, who are the only bona-fide HFF on our list. With only LeCras AFL quality and Strijk an outside shot. And I won't get started on Hams.

We desperately need some young talent in these areas. All the successful teams of the last few years have had several of these high HF. Chapman, Johnson, Varcoe, Didak, Sidebottom, etc.

For these reasons, I wouldn't be adverse to drafting a Crozier at 23, and perhaps even a Markworth.

Markworth is 191cm so he is KP size now. Crozier is 184cm and could still grow another few cms. I prefer Crozier over Markworth for what we need but I know many will disagree.

That height is irrelevant. From what I've seen he's a HF in the Gary Rohan mould, not a sit it on his head marking type.

His strength will be breaking play open at ground level using his speed and creating goals from half-chances. I don't think he'll ever be a big ball winner, but he will break open the play at HF which we could do with given our shit load of tall, marking forwards.

Depending on availability. I don't really know the players that well but the Eagles will pick best available at the 1st pick and then for needs with the 2nd. I would still like another ouside runner, so if someone is available who fits the mold pick him. Both players picked must have good speed and elite skills. We still have a number of ball butchers in the side and from now on must only draft elite users. (no more eberts, houlihans etc)

23. Not sure Lockyer probably
28. Newman

Small crumbing forward is a need, it is one of the reasons we didn't score highly in the finals, when it was brought to the ground we had no one there.

And Hams can play in the ruck because height is irrelevant.

Can you not read? I was trying to point out to your simple brain that simply looking at Markworths height and saying we shouldn't get him as he's KP size is stupid. He is a quick, agile player who plays his best at ground level where he uses his ridiculous acceleration to gather and dispose. He doesn't play like a KF, so taking him wouldn't really give us yet another tall, marking type player a la Lynch, Darling, Kennedy.

Hey insane no need to be rude. Yes I was being facetious but so were you in your reply. It was a completely blanket statement so it got what it deserved. At no stage did I say he will be a KP player although if he fills out he could be one day. Despite what you think he is not all that good at ground level (at least not compared with others who will be available) and growing is not going to help that.

#23 Crozier

# 28 Newman

Crozier as a slider we should take .

WCE need another KPD , my selections lack such so I imagine I will be incorrect and may take a KPD at 23 ??

Eagles looks set on Newman !

Any chance Freo or any other club will take him before us?

"November 12: Newman a smash hit

Western Australian onballer Murray Newman is a very good chance to get picked up in the NAB AFL Draft, which is a great outcome considering his footballing future was in doubt before the season even started.

Newman's football career nearly came to an end in January when he put a hand through a glass table after a fall. The nippy small forward-midfielder suffered extensive damage to nerves and tendons and was told there was a chance he would not regain full use of the hand.

Even after a major operation to repair the damage proved successful, he was still told it was unlikely he would recover in time to play any footy in 2011.

Undaunted, Newman continued to train and surprised everyone with his recuperative powers.

He was back in a Swan Districts guernsey by round eight and kicked six goals in the colts team. He won a late call up to the WA team for the national championships and topped off his stunning comeback by playing the last seven games in the WAFL seniors."

Freo would be the only club who would take Newman ( # 20 ) , but if they do another player will slide . WCE picks are strategically placed to get the sliders and predicting players is a raffle but Newman is predicted to go 30 - 50 probably .

WCE will be taking Newman earlier then expected so I think we will be able to draft Newman , if we choose !

Newman sounds perfect. A goal kicking midfielder is exactly what we need. I also like the sound of Lockyer, and not just for his family connection to the club.

My prediction:

23: Lockyer
28: Newman

Or swap them around because I'm not sure who is more likely to be poached with picks 24-27. I put the KPP first because they're usually in demand and this draft is meant to be very shallow for KPP talent.

IN: Lockyer, Newman, Josh Hill (trade), Ashton Hams (promoted rookie)
OUT: Brett Jones (retired), Callum Wilson (delisted), Jordan Jones (delisted), Brad Ebert (trade)

Happy with that :)

Would love Newman to force his way into the team over the preseason.

FF: Newman Kennedy Lecras

Now that's a dangerous FF line.

23: Waylen Manson

28: Murray Newman

Our list is so balanced that we can afford to take at least one risk, being Manson. Our backline is pretty well shored up and we have a plethora of midfielders, our forwardline could do with more X-factor, which is what you get with both these two.
