Competitions Draft Prediction - 23 & 28

The quality of this draft is underrated. The top 35 I would say anyway. I wish we had an extra pick.
I think that was confirmed when Geelong, perhaps the best recruiting staff of them all, downgraded p26 for p32+p34.

They obviously believe the draft stretches to 35-ish.

Can't help but think we should've squeezed Port harder for that second pick instead of settling on Josh Hill.

I don't think Mason will last... GWS could realistically take the punt on him with one of their many picks in the first round....I know it would be a risk for them but they have enough picks to take a gamble on one of them. Would be a good promotional tool as well "GWS take punt on mason...etc" If not freo might just bounce at 20.

I'm hoping we get 2 of Kersten (if he slides), Newman, Manson & Lockyer.

the only thing i really hope we don't get is another inside mid. Kerr, Shuey, Priddis backed up by Swift and Stevens (And the selwood brothers)... that is the only area that is not a requirement... other than HBFers!

KPF, KPD, HFF, outside mid. any of those in no particular order!

This. Fortunately their is likely to be plenty of decent talent in these positions still available at both our picks. Whoever our ND draftees are this year i don't expect them to play next year they will most likely be more project type players.

Been a fan of Yeo's for a while now, have previously posted asking whether he'd by any chance last to the PSD/rookie draft but gotten no answers:(.
In your opinion, is there a chance of him sliding this far and if not, would we be prepared to select him over a Newman/ Lockyer with 28.

Also, any interest shown in Schade? Must admit I've only seen highlights but the most impressive of all the KPD imo. Pace, skill and strong defensivly. A perfect CHB/third tall.

The club has pretty much settled on Newman, so doubt we would pass on him.
Elliot Yeo cant see lasting to the rookie draft, he's too good for that.
I would personally think he will go between 20 to 45.

Thanks man, disappointing we don't have another pick round the 30's.

Considering you appear in the know somewhat, have you heard any interest in Florio? Considering we've delisted a few wingers off the rookie list, I'd imagine he could jump straight into one of these vacated positions. Would provide some nice outside depth along with Dalziell and Hill

I dont get the manson love. The goal numbers sound nice but hes playing NTFL anyway. He didnt look like he even had to try that hard to get a mark on any of the clips I saw.

Because the NTFL is no bettethan the TAC Cup?

Emma Quayle mentioned Michael Talia, Henry Schade, Murray Newman, Jordan Murdoch and Jackson Merrett as players we might be interested in at 23 and 28.

I'd rather both Newman and Schade for that combination of speed and height.

Same.

Schade is very underrated, for me he has so much to work with and his attack off the half back line is impressive. He has speed and kicks very well he would be suited to Subiaco Oval big time.

Newman and Schade two left footers.

I just looked at the Herald Sun SuperFooty Phantom draft and they'd have the Eagles taking

23 West Coast
Michael Talia
HEIGHT: 194cm
CLUB: Calder Cannons
Eagles need to bolster their key defensive stocks. A stopper who is excellent aerially. Big tank.

and

28 West Coast (priority pick)
West Coast
Jackson Merrett
HEIGHT: 187cm
CLUB: Geelong Falcons
Eagles want some outside class. A run-and-carry specialist who is a lovely kick.

There has been quite some talk about Jordan Murdoch and West Coast, not just from Emma Quayle. Definitely some truth to the rumours.
