Hmmm wouldn't mind nabbing Cahill at #40

I'm bored

*BUMP*

Updated order after the Swans were pushed out.

Bad luck Roosy. :)

1. Demons: Jack Watts - need a gun forward and he's Victorian

2. Eagles: Daniel Rich - WCE will have a top midfield with Masten, Hurn, Kerr, Rich, Butler and Ebert running around

3. Dockers: Nicholas Naitanui - replacement for Warnock

4. Port: Michael Hurley - possible replacement for Tredrea at CHF when Stewart and Carlile can hold down CHB and full back.

5. Essendon: Hamish Hartlett - goal kicking midfielder and clearance player with skill. They need a Gibbs.

6. Carlton: Jack Ziebell - adds the GRUNT and skill we need

7. Brisbane: Steele Sidebottom - skilled mid they need to complement the silky Dalziell...

8. Richmond: Tyrone Vickery - replacement for Simmonds

9. North: Mitch Robinson - readymade replacement for Adam Simpson, but a better kick and faster.

10. Adelaide: Lewis Johnston. The Crows might need some pace through the midfield and a forward such as Yarran since Porplyzia will reportedly move onto the ball next year. But Johnston would give them a good forwardline for the future with Sellar, Walker and Tippett all capable of playing forward. Local players such as O'Keefe or Broadbent might be available when they have their second round pick. Generally, the mids you can get your hands on with a later pick are better than any of the forwards on offer.

11. Sydney: Tough choice for the Swans, Hill, Yarran, Lisle or Trengove?

Hill or Yarran would add the pace Sydney need, but they have young mids/forwards in Veszpremi, O'Keefe and Meredith. Sydney have no young tall defenders coming through to replace Bolton and Barry, so they will pick Jackson Trengove.

12. Collingwood: Steve Hill. Quick runner/onballer from WA who could eventually replace Rhys Shaw in their line up and free up Heath Shaw to play up the ground.

13. St Kilda: Jordan Lisle - CHB

14. Bulldogs: Ayce Cordy - the Dogs might have to use their first pick on Cordy if the Saints or Pies make the top four and bid because they will have a lower first round selection. Even Sydney could bid since he's a Cordy and they need a ruckman to replace Spider Everitt.

15. Hawks: Chris Yarran. Stay tuned for a year of Hawthorn flogs saying Yarran should have gone top six and was a better selection than Daniel Rich...

16. Cats: Sam Blease, quick bottom age midfielder who will develop in the seconds for two years before being unleashed.

PP Melbourne: Need a young ruckman/forward, Shaun McKernan.

PP WCE: David Zaharakis. WCE won't flinch at picking a Victorian midfielder in the draft, so the pacy Zaharakis could be on their menu. They could also pick Rhys O'Keefe here with Melbourne having the next live pick and needing a midfield after picking McKernan.

Second round

19. Melbourne: Nick Suban. Reported leader and potential back pocket replacement for Whelan initially, but might replace McDonald in the midfield if he improves his motor.

20. WCE: Rhys O'Keefe. Eagles might see a better skilled version of Beau Waters in O'Keefe who was recruited out of SA. Risky to take Tom Swift when he's had two knee reconstructions like Muston.

4. Port: Michael Hurley - possible replacement for Tredrea at CHF when Stewart and Carlile can hold down CHB and full back.

Keep on hearing that Port are very very keen on Vickery with this selection.

Re: I'm bored

if port have 2 players who can hold down chb and fb why not pick vickery who can play foward and ruck which is what they need.

Which is another reason why Vickery would come into calculations for them.

Re: I'm bored

Even though Watts' form hasn't been great recently, i'd still take him at #1. Players like him don't come around too often.

Look, i'd take him number 1 also if we had the first pick but if i was in the Dees position, i'd be taking Rich. While i think Watts has the potential to be the best player in the draft, not sure, when you way up the risk and potential output in the AFL that he'd be their choice.

Re: I'm bored

What about our second rounder, are blease and rockliff chances

Blease shouldn't be available with our second rounder, he'd be gone but Rockliff will be. I definitely wouldn't take Rockliff with our second rounder though, he'd be available at our third rounder for mine and i think should be on our radar with that pick.

Re: I'm bored

We won't have pick 24.

I've read that on the draft board, but this isn't as boring as reading the same things over and over...

And I never said I know these kids. :D

Read this on the drafts board........and I know it won't happen.....but just to send some of you to be with a stiffy:

In light of the Dees not getting Warnock
  1. Dees - Naitanui
  2. WCE - Rich
  3. Freo - Ziebell or Hartlett
  4. Port - Vickery/Harts/Ziebell
  5. Dons - Hurley
  6. Blues - Watts.......OMG!!!!! :eek::eek::eek:
Like I said........sweet dreams.:D

Re: I'm bored

We might not have pick 24, but i have a feeling we still might have another second round pick, don't think it would be smart not to have one in this draft.
Agreed.

I want a key forward or a really quick player.

If we had to, I'd even go so far as to trade Thornton to get a 2nd rounder somehow even though I think we need to keep him ahead of Fisher. Bret has beaten better opponents than Fisher this year and finished tenth in the John Nicholls medal IIRC.

Maybe Fisher for St Kilda's second rounder now that the Aints will have pick 31 to 34.

Pick 6, 32, 40 and 56 would be OK.

Though the Saints would think harder about trading for a defender like Thornton and Mundy than Fisher.

Maybe we can trade Bret to Hawthorn. :D

Can't see Fisher and Thornton being asked to move because they wouldn't want to leave the club now.

LOL, i would do a nudie run around Princes Park if it happened :p

Unfortunately it won't happen, Port wouldn't pass on him and neither would the Bombers.

I'd accept Fisher or Thornton for a late 2nd rounder to the Saints. Ideally we should give that pick to Freo for Warnock and keep pick 24 but that won't happen.

We should really try and get Warnock without trading either pick 6 or 24 though.

Hurleys a Bomber if available. How does this affect your draft choices at 6? Do you go for best available in Ziebell or Hartlett, or the taller option still?

We should go best available, taking a tall at pick 6 is to must of a stretch for the players that would still be available IMO. For me Ziebell over Hartlett, i think he'll add more to our team than Hartlett will.

I was just going to post this after reading your post on the Scum's board. ;)

Such a shame Hamish Hartlett might end up a Bluebagger. ;) :D

I assume Hughes will pick Hartlett going by the comments he made in last year's article about Naitanui being picked ahead of Kreuzer.

Ziebell might give us more playing a quarterback role, in the middle and up forward, but Hartlett is the contested ball winner and goal kicking midfielder Carlton needs.

Can't lose either way unless we reach for a forward with pick six.

Hartlett passing to Hartlett for a goal would bring the Telstra Dome down...

I'm still one of the few hopers that Adam still might get it together. Would be nice to see both playing alongside one another.

Reckon it might lift the big fellas efforts?

Reckon it might lift the big fellas efforts?

Can only hope so!

I think it's more of a matter of getting a good run of games under his belt which will allow him to perform at his personnel best. Hard to get into any kind of good form when you're constantly interrupted by injury. Seemed to get some games under the belt toward the end of the year which is a massive positive for him though.

There's never been any doubt about his talent. I'm hoping he gets another year and gets some runs on the board (maybe with his brother too!)
