Well it would guarantee you

2 of Robey, Sharp, Cumming or X.Taylor

And likely 2 of the first 3 (As i think Tigers are locking in X.Taylor)
I don’t want Robey or XT. If one of Sharp/Cumming is going to be taken by Richmond or Essendon I’d do 2,13 for 5,F1.

If both are going to be gone I wouldn’t trade.

Will you know that though?

Essendon can say were taking Robey at 2 but we cant promise what Richmond might do or who might trade live into their spots

Your basically saying your ruling out a trade of 5 and 6 for 2 and 13 because Ess cant guarantee both Sharp and Cumming being there at 5 and 6

If we could we would tell you and then not care what actually happens

I personally dont want to do that trade

Give me 2 of Sharp, Robey, Cumming or CDT

Id probably consider offering live (If we get Robey/Sharp/Cumming at 5)

Sharp/Cumming + 30
for
F2+13+34+41+53

Something along those lines

reasonably well you reckon ? You have to be joking

Brisbane have added 5 players to their list that are top 5 prospects in the last few years at a massive discount, and they have won the last 2 flags , the good news is that Gold Coast have done the same, actually better

2 of the best 5 players in the comp ( Daicos and Darcy ) and a bloke who at 20 yrs has 2 norm smiths have been added to afl lists for peanuts, and no other club has had a chance to get them to their clubs, and you reckon they have done reasonably well?

The draft was meant to equalize the competition, but the team that finished second last gets the seventh best player in that draft, how do you reckon that is going?
Darcy Moore was crap early and has come good now

You speaking of a past system

Will be different this year and potentially harder again next year

This is the last real season of the Suns benefitting from the 2019 AFL assistance package. After this year we will value the picks the same as the other 17 soon 18 teams. The suns have really only had 3 solid academy years and they have been this year and the two prior where a total of 10 academy players maybe selected noting Walter, Read, Rogers and Graham (2023 Draft) and Lombard (2024 Draft) and Uwland, Patterson, Addinsall, Murray and Coulson (2025 Draft). Prior to that we had Jack Bowes pick 10 in (2016 Draft) only top 10 academy selection in the 12 years of existence before 2023.

Whilst I agree it’s highly comprised the draft the suns have played finals once and have literally traded future picks for the last 5 years to get to this point.

Also the QLD academies are blossoming as participation numbers are rising through the roof. AFL is fighting the battle with the NRL in QLD and winning in my opinion.

Suns are all in this draft so any deficit will be covered in 2026 draft as we will have taken at least 7 first rounders in 3 years after Uwland and Patterson are selected. Hopefully both top 5 as that shows the hard work the club has put it after the Melbourne teams gutted us for years

Yes. ROB was our list manager for a long time, Rosa is ex WCE, Vozzo the same. We’ll know who ESS and RICH are taking.

How can any guarantee exactly who Tigers are taking? Theyd have a fair idea come the night but....

They might go Sharp and Cumming, let alone at least 1

Eagles fans will panic if you trade up and take Sharp instead of Robey or CDT. They are convinced it will be one of those 2 players.

Would be very interesting draft night if a curve ball lands.

Twomey said Sharps starting point is Essendon

No need to trade up for Sharp, will be for CDT if we arent telling furphies there or Robey, who could be there still at 5 aswell

Why would they be trading up for Sharp? He'll be available at 5...
That is in no way a sure thing and i wouldnt rule out Richmond

There have been alot of talk about Robey , Grlj & Taylor but im thinking thats just based on flimsy evidence
Grlj played in Richmonds VFL and the club loved the way he played - same as Jagga & Langford last year
Taylor - Richmond supporter and Vlastuin replacement ( Trainor , Gibcus , brown ) We already have 3

CDT , Sharp & Cumming are certainly not out of contention to be Tigers next year

I mean... sure? I just don't fathom Sharp as an option given your current build. CDT definitely, if he's available at 3 I think you pick him. Cumming is fair I suppose, but I think Grlj skillset fills a need more, so I guess it depends if the club thinks its hit the trough off the rebuild

Well we did delist Dow and Prestia will be finished and teams draft for what they think their team looks like in 5 years time
and not next year so midfield would be Smillie - lalor - Hotton -Campbell - McAuliffe and Smillie fits in perfectly as that midfield pig that extracts out to Lalor , Hotton , Campbell , McAuliffe which are all excellent as 2nd possession types

People are letting Hopper/Taranto blind their judgement a bit and Taranto is very good also on the outside and foward craft
In your mock you have Grlj in your 3rd tier why would we take an inferior player only because of supposed need for speed
2nd year in a rebuild ?

Sharp is the best performed player available in this draft the last 2 years and is the most likely 250+ game player with excellent leadership and could be the Libba type that every team needs.

I would be over the moon to have Richmond call out his name at pick #3

Imo in 5 years time the way the game is trending there’s not much room for any more than 1 of a Sharp type in a best 22, and while they’re not the same players, in an idealistic world where you’re contending you’ve got Smillie in that role.

These 3 I see as your future main midfield as someone who has NFI. I feel like Grlj, Robey and Cumming all project better in there than Sharp does

Yeah I think I’m more on the side of Richmond thinking that with last year’s haul they’re well placed to not really bottom out at any point. Hence the idea that Hopper and Taranto don’t need to be replaced ASAP.
In your mock you have Grlj in your 3rd tier
It’s all very tight outside of Duursma, as most feel about this class. Quite the blanket over tiers 2 and 3 for me, where everyone has solid AFL traits and potential to contribute.

“why would we take an inferior player only because of supposed need for speed”
2nd year in a rebuild ?
See above. I just don’t think that the Sharp types need to be drafted in Richmond’s position. Think they prioritise those X Factor types when they’ve got Lalor already in there contributing. Someone like a Robey or Grlj have genuine second positions that they could play at AFL level that allow them to ease in.

Every team needs it but not any more than 1 or 2. You’ve Smillie already for that bottom of the pack, first possession accumulator.

I wouldn’t lol

I think your main reasoning is due to Smillie but i think they are different with smillie ability to also play outside or 2nd receiver and go foward as he is 197cm

When you mention priorities X factor players i think we have already done that last year with the 3 mids we selected
Smillie , Hotton , Lalor along with Campbell , McAullife and even Mrj having a run through there in recent times
In just only our 2nd year of a rebuild and banking a shed load of cap space for the missing types i think Sharp is exactly the type we can afford to take this year with having 2 x top 4 selections and is essentially a free hit thanks to North

If i am selecting today i am taking #3 - Sharp #4 - Robey / Cumming

MARCUS KRASNADAMSKIS 201cm Ruck, Eastern Ranges

Mentioned in the Hun as being linked to the Bulldogs, has barely been mentioned on these boards but looms as another bolter. 2.88sec for the 20m sprint for a ruck!

****ing gorgeous part of the world though Tumby Bay.
Agree, just got back after spending 10 months there, living 20 metres off the beach. Lovely mild summer and access to some of the best seafood in the world. Home of the Vineys.
