Rumour Draft Rumours 2025

The main rumour from Eagles side is

  • We want a Future 1st in some shape or form by using pick 2 or 13 to do it
  • Tylah Williams a chance to attract a bid in the first round which may cause Eagles issues later in the draft
  • Eagles will bid on Uwland and Harry Dean with pick 2. Patterson and Annable will slide to Richmond to do
Eagles have 34,41, 53 to deal with an earlier than expected T.Williams bid

Dont get me wrong im not saying a pick this year like 9 wouldnt attract interest but it has to be to a team that is desperate for that player still available and they would need to have later picks in this years draft to satisfy Carlton and the need for points and that is going to be difficult to do with any team that is expected to have a pick inside #15 next year

St Kilda could offer their F1 as a straight swap but that really doesnt work for Carlton this year

Blues have two picks to trade.

One used to get a F1st.

The other is split to pay for Dean and land points this year.

Bid will come from Essendon at the latest.

Eagles with pick 2 bid on the three academy kids 2 becomes 5, Essendon bid 8 or 9.

Eagles 13 now16 plus 34 that drops to 29 for 9 which is now 12.

So pick 16 plus 29 for pick 12.

16 and 29 pays for Dean and leaves points for Ison.

Will need to be sure of no bid on dean from Rich for that to work - I expect the one used to get a f1 may also inlcude other later picks to help match for ison bid

I think that's 90% what happens. Makes the most sense.

Although wouldnt surprise if we shuffled 13 (16) a little further down the order after getting it from Westcoast to accrue more points. Plus maybe getting another pick in the high 40s/early 50s to help with Ison in the F1 trade.

You are going to struggle to find takers. Similar to the GC and Brisbane teens picks, there aren't many potential buyers. And those with multiple second rounders (North, Essendon and WC) will be happy for your pick to be used for matching.

Im not sure it'll be that hard. Essendon have 3 picks in the 20s. Pretty plausible that they'd be happy to trade 2 for another high end pick, particularly if we chucked in one of our late picks to help them match bids. Adelaide might be willing to chuck in their 40s/50s picks to move from 16 to 13 if they think it'll help them get their player.

Depends who clubs rate but there are several options. Probably won't be able to trade 13 for a big points surplus but every little bit helps.

16 & 29 if thats what they end up becoming is 1403 points
a bid for Dean at pick #5 ( presuming eagles dont bid and leave that to Richmond at pick #5) is 1795 points minus 10%
still need over 1600 points and a bid for Ison at 30 is another 400 points

Thats well short and by my calculations around 600 points

* Not to mention the eagles also have 3 academy kids likely to get bids and Tylah Williams is being touted as a 20-30 bid

Carlton will do plenty of trading draft night for points and future picks

Blues will sit tight until drafting Dean becomes official.

Then take stock
I'd love to see the Blues draft board.

If bid at 2, call...
If bid at 3, call...
If bid at 4, call...
...

We got rumours on our board linking us to every player.

One rumour has us taking the the SA combo meal of sharp, Cummings & kellaway

Another is that dees/bombers want to trade for pick 2 to get robey/CDT, and we will take which ever one falls + Taylor

We also got nuffies on our board, well one in particular, who thinks Hartley (who built our dynasty team) is a dumbass and theyre a better recruiter. so I’d take our rumours with a pretty big pinch of salt

There has to be a point like at 2, that the Blues consider not matching and just using pick 9 + 11.

Same with the Suns, do they want all their academy guys? or will let one go.
If Uwland, patterson go top 5 then and Addinsal top 20 do they match again or go into deficit?
they still have Coby Coulson, Jai Murray, Max Hudson and Cooper Collins all eligible too.

Essendon have said they will see where the bid lies for Sweid/El-Achkar whether they match or let them go.

Blues will match at 2, just means they get far less in the future for the picks

Max Hudson and Cooper Collins if in the National draft will be passed on. Don’t have the list spots for anyone other than the big 5 of Uwland, Patterson, Murray, Addinsall and Coulson.

Coulsons dad is our number 1 ticket holder so best bet is Addinsall being the one to miss out.

Probably why Westcoast will successfully blackmail us out of 9 for 13+34. If they make that threat, not worth calling their bluff. Bank the points and move on.

We could absorb a slightly earlier bid from Richmond, but a Westcoast bid would really hurt us.

Points are very easy to accumulate

Worst case scenario is a pick 2 bid, 2233 points

So your 9 and 11 become. Dean and pick 35

Would mean you have 35, 42, 53 post dean, they come in about 5-8 slots when Uwland, Annable, Paterson are bid on

Would mean circa Dean, Ison, Pick ~35

Thats with having a spud recruiting manager that doesnt know how to call people or use a laptop

If you allow teams to poster knowing youll fold over then they will continue targetting the weak link
