If Dean is bid at pick 7, they need 1400pts & will lose pick 12( 1140pts, was 9) and 260 pts will be deducted from pick 14(1040pts) which pushes it pick 21(721pts).

Sometimes I wonder how some journos have jobs even after they make bloopers after bloopers.

The confident manner some of them can peddle BS and still allowed to pretend to be experts is baffling.

And if Grlj slides, then Hawks are taking him over Farrow.

Back to rumours - quite possible the Bulldogs take Nairn as a round 1 bolter, and bid on Harry Kyle with our next pick.

Probably a mix of both, to be honest, can’t be giving all his intel away prior to releasing his podcast each week.

He’s obviously very close to the draftees with the access he gets as well. He will know what questions to ask them in regards to level of interest.

But my guess is that he’s probably also got 5, maybe 10 very close sources at different clubs that give him enough intel to piece most of things together. I’m sure he is aware of his gaps, though which are probably then validated elsewhere by other reports.

I’ve not met Cal but friends around clubs that have said he’s a very likeable guy. Can see why he builds relationships well.

The draft is in one week, and awfully quiet on the rumor front. Normally Twomey has drip fed some player/club interests by now. And some more solid info. Been the most low key draft build up that I can remember.

Very very strange year for the draft. The same players are still ranked in the same spots than they were a few months ago. Barely any movement at all. Last year we didn’t know Lalor was going #1 until not that long before the draft. Every team is still linked to the same players as they were earlier in the year

Regarding Dean

Richmond look like selecting Taylor with 1 of our selections so if we are intending on taking a defender then surely richmond bid on Dean first as he is ranked higher and is younger and taller than Taylor.

Probably why Westcoast will successfully blackmail us out of 9 for 13+34. If they make that threat, not worth calling their bluff. Bank the points and move on.

We could absorb a slightly earlier bid from Richmond, but a Westcoast bid would really hurt us.

Also west coast bid on Zeke at least, so Richmond bid probably comes at pick 5 after they have selected a player first.
