I wouldn't. We're tied to Will Darcy (KPD) and took Zac Walker (KPD) at the MSD last year.

Will Darcy is an interesting prospect.
Basically slipped under the radar this year (potentially strategically) and he does seem like a long term project player as KPD but isn't a sure thing at AFL level like Sam always was.

He was quite low production too but he does move well. Most KPDs take a long time and I suspect he needs a lot of work.
Walker progressed quite well last year and it will be interesting to see how he goes with an AFL pre-season.

I suspect James O'Donnell & Busslinger get most games this year even though they are raw. Walker, Darcy (and whoever we pick up this year if we do grab a tall) will get plenty of patience, especially seeing as we're linked to two ruckmen with our second pick.

I still have a tiny 1% hope that Grlj falls to our pick. Weirdly, with Lalor and Smillie I think he'd be amazing at Richmond too. Compliments them perfectly.

To be fair to KM, he only would have picked Jack Avery if Casey Voss was already off the board in the top 5.

At least he was original, stuck to his guns and didn't fall into group think. He did have some successes such as Noah well before he was drafts.

He would not hear a bad word about Jack Lukosius despite showing no improvement from his U17 year and his inability to one grab marks when under pressure.

Because if you go by the one he did last year this time he also picked Lindsay for you.

He did one on the 18th - days before the draft and nailed the top ten. His last phantom draft -like most years are very good. Especially the top 10.

I went back and had a look after my post. Had him at 7 just after Daicos, JHF, Darcy, Callaghan, Ward & Matt Roberts.

Looking at the full list looks like he did the first 4 or 5 and then hit the crack pipe

You just had so much success with Vlaustin. It's version 2.0. Fits your list build perfectly and he's as competitive as it gets.

I actually don't think you're that into Robey. You don't tend to buy into the hype too much, and he's not a great fit with Lalor and Smillie. Cumming makes sense.

Think Grlj will be available at our pick if you pass. I'd be willing to trade that pick for your F1 but you'd have to really rate him to do that.

Farrow makes no sense with your first 2 picks.

Point is if they want Dean they're not getting him bidding after #1.
Dean and Duursma might get them who they want.
Duursma then bid on Dean doesn't because we match.
If they are considering impact of matching picks on their other picks then they are better off not bidding

It's an interesting topic. I think you should go by your rankings except select Dursma 2nd until you get to your preferred 2nd target in the open draft.

Eg.
WC pick/bid Uwland (matched), Dean (matched), Duursma & CDT. Even if your board says Duursma, Uwland, Dean & CDT, there is no point doing this order as by all accounts GC and Carlton will have the funds to match and think that is what you are going to do.

Therefore you get other clubs to pay more and try and shake someone loose. Your number 1 target is always getting picked so there is no risk for WC.
