For those floating live trading scenarios/whispers

Collingwood & Essendon are not allowed to trade any 2019 picks in the draft this week because they traded out their 2019 first round picks during trade period

Adelaide, Carlton, Fremantle, Gold Coast, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs are not allowed to trade 2019 first round draft picks at the draft unless they replace the 2019 picks that they traded away in the trade period.

Brisbane, Geelong, GWS Giants, Hawthorn, Melbourne, Richmond, Sydney and West Coast — can trade their future first-rounders away, as they still hold a full allotment of 2019 selections (future second, third, fourth and fifth).
Brisbane have already traded their future 1st to GC.

My point exactly, Rozee if the one they’d want to pair with Luko at 6. But do port take him at 5 ?

Do they then take the risk port don’t take Rozee or look to Max and Ben King at 3 and 6 ?
I actually don't mind
2) Sam Walsh
3) Lukosius
6) Caldwell / Rozee

Pairing Sam Walsh with Caldwell are ideal ( both co-captain for vic country) and Ballard will try his best to keep Lukosius feel comfortable after a year at GC .

The only risk Lukosius ,if Rozee not available.

If Blues do take Rankine, I think it could possibly change way suns thinking, in that:

that they may take Lukosius and Rozee (at 2 and 3) leaving Saints to decide between Walsh and M King. Port would then take the one left.
they may look to take Victorians like Walsh and Max King (at 2 and 3) leaving Lukosius to Saints and Rozee to Port with Caldwell possibly at 6...

As others have said, it may not change the order at all, but if GC were hoping to get Rankine and Luko together and Rozee, it obviously wont happen if Izak goes #1.
There is no chance at all the suns would take Rozee ahead of walsh - a guy that is apparently quite happy to move to Queensland. Walsh would be the 1st pick for the suns imo if Carlton don't take him

Someone on our board who's had exceptional mail out of the Bulldogs in the last couple of years told us tonight that Carlton will take Rankine at 1 (with GCS to then take Walsh and Luko).

Reckons they can't bring themselves to overlook him.

There's been talk that they were trying to trade down to picks 3 and 6 (presumably to get Rankine at 3, and then someone else they really rate at 6), but perhaps that has been knocked back by GCS, and now they've just said stuff it we'll take him at 1 then.

Someone else on our board who has for years told us he has a contact inside Carlton also told us a few months ago that Carlton had a "massive hard-on" for Rankine, and someone else who said one of their mates is involved in recruiting at Collingwood told us yesterday that Collingwood rate him the best prospect to have come along in the last 5 years, so it wouldn't be that big of a surprise if Carlton pull the trigger on him at 1.

Could be like a couple of years ago when everyone thought McCluggage was going 1 until the last couple of days, and he ended up going at 3.
Yeah that won't happen

I hope like hell Walsh would fall to 4, but it just wont happen. GC won't pass up on Walsh or Lukosius. As I said earlier, they have pick 6 to pair one of them up with a mate.
If we are pairing them up with mates (which we have done in the past). Charlie Ballard (re-signed up this year) who is already on our list is good mates with Lukosius. So IF Carlton take Rankine at 1 and we grabbed Walsh and Lukosius with 2 and 3, then I would hope to perhaps aim for someone like Caldwell at 6?

Love watching the reality sink in for the Adelaide based optimists that they aren't getting a pick that will net them Rankine or Lukosius.

Welcome to the Suns.

wouldnt be too cocky, youre basically a feeder club for everyone else.
No difference between GC and our SANFL development team.

Our SANFL team would probably give them a run for their money in 2019

I don't get the pessimism with GC, they have a good coach now, and they have finally fixed their back office. Yeah they were poor last year but their first half of the year wasn't awful. Like any young team they ran out of legs in the second half of 2018. They are playing the long game and it will come off, might take a year or two.

I've posted this in the Liam Stocker thread as well but on the 'Road to the Draft' podcast, Cal Twomey said that Hawthorn had met with Stocker this past week and had an interest in him. They would obviously need to trade into the late first, early second round to get that done, so keep an eye out for that on draft night.

They just lost their two best players and captains.
Who is their current best player? Touk Miller?

I mean you look at Carlton as a basket case and they ahve Cripps, Docherty, Curnow etc as well as some other young guys showing a lot.
The Suns just dont have that.

What do the hawks currently have?

It was tongue in cheek, but GC 2019 list is the worst ever to grace the AFL.

I don’t disagree, truely aweful list. They need to get their picks right this year can’t afford to A) not have these players develop and B) leave in a yea or twos time. Need players who will stay long term and build a side around.

Even so the worst the AFL list is a massive step up from the worst SANFL side.

The Suns have plenty of talent, saying otherwise is silly. They will turn it around, at least they have a good coach.

What are Hawks' fans best guess of a potential trade?

He is tipped to go around 15-20?

I'd trade our pick 20 for your future first, which will end up as around pick 25, but I doubt Stocker will still be there for the start of day 2.

Hard to see Stocker lasting long enough for a club to want to trade their pick for the Hawks future first.

Maybe the Hawks just laying some groundwork in case he goes interstate.

Would Port trade 15 with swaps in Port's favour for it after taking who they want at 5 and 10? Probably the one, maybe Richmond or something like that.

Miller, Ainsworth, Brodie, Bowes, Ah Chee, Wright, Ballard, Powell and Weller are all good young players.

It's the senior players they lack though.

They have addressed that this off season. Got some mature aged players in.

Since St Kilda tried to initiate a pick swap with Gold Coast that the Suns rejected which was to see GC get 4 and St Kilda get 6, I reckon the Saints are going to take somebody they felt they could have gotten later and for me, that is Bailey Smith. I haven’t seen a single phantom draft with them taking Smith but I reckon that’s what they’ll do.

Maybe even Caldwell could be their guy, but I doubt it though

Oh right so only 53 in this draft. So they'd be looking at trading a future 1st for an early 2nd this year most likely?

They'd have to package multiple to get into the first round you'd think given the strength of this draft?
I don't know are between hawthorn and the other team that make the deal happen . Eg Scully deal .
