Maybe then trade it with WCE for their 2019 Rd 1, match the bid, then WCE trades pick 20 for the return of the 2019 Rd 1 pick.

Heard from a solid source that SOS will spring the first surprise of the draft by passing at Pick 1 :thumbsu:

    Only if they're no good.

Dunno about bottom 4. Bottom 6 maybe, bottom 8 almost certainly, and bottom 10 without a doubt. Good deal for GWS. :p

Clubs should be able to trade any contracted player. That would redress the balance, but they'd have to agree to earlier access to free agency, say 6/8 instead of 8/10, and with it being portable.

What happens if a bid on Quaynor comes early enough for Collingwood to go into deficit in the first round next year? Is this yet another loophole that will be rorted because of the AFL's lack of foresight?

I already know who the Swans are going to get inside the first 20 picks, and even so I am nervous/excited right now.

Let them be honest. As long as they don't say that they'd refuse to go to a club(s) it's fine.

You blokes will just be sitting there cheering every time they read out someone other than Blakely surely? Same with North and Thomas.

Doesn't really mean much. Juniors often do rehab/train with AFL teams. A couple of years back Dunkley was doing rehab and played VFL games with Richmond, while supposedly in the Sydney academy (although he lived in Melbourne and thus Richmond was more convenient...) and yet he ended up at the Bulldogs.

I'm sure there are rules around it (medical reports must be shared, etc), and yes, there would be some advantage to the hosting team getting to know his personality, and how he relates to the people at the club, (call it payback for the time/effort/resources they contribute), but it's nothing conclusive.

Pretty much, and I will be nervous as hell that St Kilda are going to be dicks and bid on Blakey at pick 4 :p

Someone will be the bad guy. I think it will be Gold Coast at 6 or Adelaide.

If it’s Gold Coast at six or any club at a later pick I don’t see that as being “bad guys”. It’s what he’s worth. An earlier pick, on the other hand...

I just hope that Blakey can get to pick 7 without a bid because of that happens we get to keep pick 38. If he goes before pick 7 then he is going to cost pick 26, 31 and 38 (or something like that) rather than just 26 and 31.

After the favour they did by taking Hannebry? No chance they will. I reckon they discussed this also.

I don't get why Adelaide etc. are labelled campaigners for bidding. If they want the kid then, they should definitely bid! And if they are just keeping the academy swindlers honest then that's good too... if a club is coughing up junk picks for top 20 talent, boo ******* hoo.

Seems to me like James Gallagher is briefing a fair few journo's with "potential" favourable swaps for StKilda involving 4.

Seems pretty apparent that they really want a mid/runner or two as that is what is really needed but can't overlook Max if they are left with Pick 4.

It is a good, if not slightly frustrating, position to be in. Not saying i wouldn't be doing the same if i was Gallagher.

I'm not sure. I'd guess it would involve 7 for 11 and 19 with maybe other stuff.

And then I guess Richmond would need to give up 17 and a future first to get 10 off Port assuming Smith is still there?

The Saints and Dogs don't have enough formally highly rated key position players who will turn out to be soft and unwilling to put in the hard work?
