I would do it and package pick 24 and 29 out to Hawthorn future 1st Rd .
Four 2019 first round definitely worth it .
GC,Brisbane ,Adelaide , hawthorn .
Surely they prefer 24,29 rather than 50+ .

I've been thinking of that exact same scenario....Our pick 50ish & next years First for Gold Coasts 24 & 29.....Hope it happens.

Twomey saying dogs looking to trade 7 for a pick before Geelong's 12 and another first rounder. Think 27 would have to be involved too.
Would mean either Adelaide, Port or GWS. Think Gws would be most likely with 19 and 9 or 11

Considering it is very unlikely Hawthorn will have a first round pick below about 14 in the 2019 draft it is probably a fair deal, especially for Gold Coast since picks 24 and 29 won't be that important to them, assuming the Adelaide deal goes through.

For those floating live trading scenarios/whispers

Collingwood & Essendon are not allowed to trade any 2019 picks in the draft this week because they traded out their 2019 first round picks during trade period

Adelaide, Carlton, Fremantle, Gold Coast, North Melbourne, Port Adelaide, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs are not allowed to trade 2019 first round draft picks at the draft unless they replace the 2019 picks that they traded away in the trade period.

Brisbane, Geelong, GWS Giants, Hawthorn, Melbourne, Richmond, Sydney and West Coast — can trade their future first-rounders away, as they still hold a full allotment of 2019 selections (future second, third, fourth and fifth).

Better to have three B to B+ players than one A+ player.

But given limited list spots we would essentially be forgoing pick 24 and 29

So if the trade was 8 + 16 + 21 for 3 we would end up with
Pick 2, 6, 8, 16, 21 - (24+29 we wouldn't use.. could trade for future seconds potentially)

instead of

2,3,6,24,29

Essentially Caldwell + 16 + 21
vs. Rankine + 24 + 29

I'd prefer Rankine.

I wonder why the Bulldogs are looking to downgrade.
Ton of speculation that Smith is adamant about not leaving Victoria, plus the teams after us are Adelaide, GWS and Port, all of whom probably don't need a player like anyway (or at least have more pressing needs, and rate others higher). It could be a zero cost trade for us to downgrade 7 to one of the next 3 picks, still get Smith before Geelong can at 12, then have another 1st before Rhylee West is bid on. Would be a massive win for us if Sam Power can pull it off

Could easily trade away 24 and 29 for future picks in 2019.

There's a lot of danger in that.

If Smith continues to slide, another Victorian club may attempt to trade up the draft order using 2018 picks or maybe even convert a 2019 first rounder to secure him.

I have been thinking the last few hours about the live trading within a draft and I think it can only benefit the poorer clubs which is a good thing. You see a better club like Adelaide desperate for Gold Coast's pick 2, and Gold Coast will benefit from that. All this talk about the big clubs trying to trade for better picks can only help the worse clubs since the worse clubs are the ones with all the good picks.

For instance, if Adelaide bids on Greater Western Sydney Academy member Kieren Briggs with pick No.16, the Giants would still be free to trade their next pick, No.19, and then match the Crows' bid with subsequent selections No.25 and 52.

GWS - Hawthorn your Future first for No 19?

19 (GWS) -> West Coast
WC future first -> GWS

then 1 pick later...

20 (WC) -> GWS
WC future first (back to)-> West Coast

West Coast turn 20 into 19 in return for helping GWS out...
