Prediction Draft rumours

I'm sure they'll be shattered. Ruin kids careers since 2011
I don't really think so ,Caddy and Prestia both won a flag . GWS kids trade to Carlton won nothing yet . Adelaide Kids to other teams won nothing yet ( Lever , Mitch , Charlie Cameron ).

Someone on our board who's had exceptional mail out of the Bulldogs in the last couple of years told us tonight that Carlton will take Rankine at 1 (with GCS to then take Walsh and Luko).

Reckons they can't bring themselves to overlook him.

There's been talk that they were trying to trade down to picks 3 and 6 (presumably to get Rankine at 3, and then someone else they really rate at 6), but perhaps that has been knocked back by GCS, and now they've just said stuff it we'll take him at 1 then.

Someone else on our board who has for years told us he has a contact inside Carlton also told us a few months ago that Carlton had a "massive hard-on" for Rankine, and someone else who said one of their mates is involved in recruiting at Collingwood told us yesterday that Collingwood rate him the best prospect to have come along in the last 5 years, so it wouldn't be that big of a surprise if Carlton pull the trigger on him at 1.

Could be like a couple of years ago when everyone thought McCluggage was going 1 until the last couple of days, and he ended up going at 3.

Edit: Scratch that. It turns out that it was just his opinion that he posted, but given his previous history of posting mail from time to time, the way he posted/worded it made it look 100% like what he was posting was mail- hence me coming in here to share it before he'd gotten back to me to confirm that it was in fact mail, which he did this morning.

Saying that they "can't bring themselves to overlook him" doesn't sound like something anyone would say as an opinion, so I took that on top of the fact he stated straight out that they were picking him as confirmation that it was mail, but it turns out that it wasn't, so apologies for that yo.

I guess this is why it pays to not share info unless you've got confirmation, and also why it can be very misleading to be posting/wording opinions like they're facts or mail!

That’d be a great result for GC.

Gold Coast would dance in the rain naked if that were to happen. I bet they want Walsh a lot more than they want Rankine.

Would happily take Lukosius and Walsh with 2 and 3. A gun midfielder with leadership values and an eventual replacement for Lynch in the F50.

ALso Gold Coast could make it rain top 20 draft picks if they were smart. If I were them I would seriously consider trading picks 2 and 3 since the players in that range are not actually ideally suited to Gold Coast. They don't want Lukosius or Rainkine as there is too much of a go home factor and the King boys will not only take forever to develop, but because they are 200cm+ there is a massive question mark on if they will develop at all.

I think Gold Coast should be targetting tough midfielders, and all those players are in the 7 to 15 range in this draft.
Gold Coast only have a few list spots available. No point in trading down for multiple picks unless they are future picks.

Not interested in your trolling.

How could you come to the conclusion that having extra picks in the first round this year would put a strain on TPP in the future.

No club would see that as a concern
I said there is a risk , especially for team like GWS and GCS , I am not trolling but looking at history the amount of former GWS players that went to Carlton .

They won a flag for another team champ, after leaving as soon as humanly possible.
Wouldn't want another 2 years of stalled development. Hell Caddy on his 3rd club.

I forget the time that Adelaide had like 32 first round picks...can you remind me when that was?
We have 1 top 10 pick on our list and he wasn't drafted to AFC lol

Doesnt mean they cant trade the other picks if they trade down.
For example (not using the proper picks aligned to clubs), they could trade 3 for 6 and 12 or something, then on trade their pick in the 20s (which now wont be used) for a future pick.

I dont think you can use what hapoened in the past with the expansion clubs to predict the future.

There's a new reality is having the same list size and cap size as everyone else.

I can't see we have any greater risk of losing players than the Swans going forward. People will adjust their expectations to this reality in time.

*groan*

You mean we have to deal with Carlton again in a couple of years time?! o_O:p

Let's not start with list management decisions and stay on course

There is no risk to TPP in the future, by having extra picks this year
Drafting is part of list management , everything associated with risk ( High or Low ) , to said there is no risk is a bit naive from you .

If you honesty think drafting 5-6 kids in the first round this year, has any impact on TPP, you have no knowledge of list management strategies

Higher than average, lack of retention is more about poor culture, than any other factor

As for GWS, they had a larger, more talented list in a non AFL environment, which needed to be reduced, in line with other clubs

Could have pretty big implications on the draft. GC are apparently keen on Walsh, you’d expect they take him but they guy they would want to pair Luko with at 6, Rozee, may not slide past ports first pick at 5 do they take that risk or go Max King then B.King at 6 knowing Luko and Rozee would most likley go 4 and 5 ?

If the saints are infact into Smith could Luko slide to 5 and Rozee slide to late in the top 10 or early in the teens. Or Luko even slide past Ports first pick to ?

get off it..if Luko was there at 5 somehow, there is no way on gods earth that port let him slide further

Doubt Lukosius make it to 4.

No way in the world would Port pass on him after that.

I don't think it would change who goes in the top 3, only the order. Walsh, Rankine and Lukosius will all be gone by 4.

GC could use 6 to pair one of Lukosius or Walsh up with a mate.

If Blues do take Rankine, I think it could possibly change way suns thinking, in that:

that they may take Lukosius and Rozee (at 2 and 3) leaving Saints to decide between Walsh and M King. Port would then take the one left.
they may look to take Victorians like Walsh and Max King (at 2 and 3) leaving Lukosius to Saints and Rozee to Port with Caldwell possibly at 6...

As others have said, it may not change the order at all, but if GC were hoping to get Rankine and Luko together and Rozee, it obviously wont happen if Izak goes #1.

I hope like hell Walsh would fall to 4, but it just wont happen. GC won't pass up on Walsh or Lukosius. As I said earlier, they have pick 6 to pair one of them up with a mate.

My point exactly, Rozee if the one they’d want to pair with Luko at 6. But do port take him at 5 ?

Do they then take the risk port don’t take Rozee or look to Max and Ben King at 3 and 6 ?
