Is there any chance that we at Big Footy could change the opinions of the hierarchy of Channel 10, with a petition or similar.

I just cannot believe it does not get a run.

I know you have to wait at times for little result, but this is one of the most important times of the years for clubs.

Surely it would rate better than the other crap on the TV at this time.

What reason could they have not to show it?

Also, does anyone know of a radio station in sydney that will cover the draft (preferably not via the internet)? I'm going to be there over the weekend so was wondering if there was any way i could listen in. I'll listen to SEN on the internet as a last resort if possible.

What reason would they have TO show it?

I want to watch it; you want to watch it, but no-one else does.

They are a commercial television network - not the promotions arm of the AFL. They make money by selling advertising time, and for the ratings that the draft would command (I tip an asterisk) they wouldn't be able to make a profit.

Channel seven used to show it, the whole thing was building some momentum then 'bang' the new broadcast deal was in, 10 had the rghts, and it was gone. Ther half hour draft 'special' is a joke, and tells us nothing BigFooty subscribers didn't already know.

SEN can't broadcase over the net on weekends
Interstaters will just have to keep an eye on their clubs fan forums unless they buy a Bigfooty membership

I think SEN can't broadcast on the net on weekends due to EPL rights

afl.com.au are providing free live audio, I think this is the SEN coverage

just compare what is on ch10 when the draft is on, it will be crap there is no good tv on the weekends so why not put it on, admittedly though it is dead boring to anyone other than a diehard footy fan.

Let me tell you from someone who lives in Sydney, the local media wouldn't know what the draft was let alone provide any coverage of it, so my advice would be to try and organise to have access to the net on Saturday morning and tune into the AFL site. You wouldn't believe how frustrating it's been in past years without net access and no possible way of finding out anything.

Does anyone have any ideas on how reliable the afl.com.au coverage will be in regards to continuity? I seem to recall last year that a lot of people had problems, presumably due to the volume of people trying to tune in.

Let's just say Ch10 decided to show the 1st round of the draft, do you have any idea how high that would rate??

Btw, afl.com.au's audio coverage last year was pathetic and really, really choppy.

My advice is get a radio.

Btw, is the draft open for the public to view??

what doesnt make sense is ch10 has a 1 hour special at 3pm, probably just interviews and a draft list. This is 8 hours after the draft started. If not many are interested as mentioned above why do they bother wasting that time slot? They could alternatively show the first hour of the draft live in the morning.

i think this situation is simply pathetic.

its not like ch10 has anything great on at that time of day anyway. all those teeny-bobber video hits kids cant have a week off. the draft is where clubs are built. i think the ratings would be good without being great. admittedly probably less than Video Hits but ch10 choose to get the rights for the draft so they should show it or at the very least give it to foxtel or chanel eddie.

screwed by Fox fooy too

Trust me, the footy channel is the only reason there's a dish on the roof and now what's the point calling yourself a footy channel...and not being live at the draft? We pay for it.##@##@

all they need is a handycam, an OB van for the feed and a few people at the studio for the link..not much to provide one of the most important days of the year

I can undestand ch10 not putiing it on...but Fox Footy channel isn't covering it FFS ???? ? get real.

Nope, can't point the finger at Foxtel for this problem

Channel 10 own the rights, hence Foxtel can't do a live transmission

CH 10 isn't a real footy channel. Don't expect too much. Why they couldn't hand the rights to Fox Footy to cover the draft is the BIG LET DOWN.

Very selfish stuff by Ch10. On the flipside...they are showing a Seinfeld marathon next week so that evens the ledger.
