Re: Is Cleve Hughes worth picking up late in the draft ?

The same environment Pfieffer has been thriving in?

Pfieffer has been injured all season, shoulder/arm I thought, and I seem to remember him being in the best for the Bullants since coming back.

Thy, ODN & Blueboys7,

I have give this long consideration after sleeping on it and i have decided that there is ABOLUTELY NO F--KING WAY I WANT CLEVE HUGHES AT CARLTON.

Glad to see you kept your promise, so what changed your mind? :p

Re: Is Cleve Hughes worth picking up late in the draft ?

If we pick Hughes up, we can turn on the player and criticise him like we did with our last pick up from a bottom team.

Chris Johnson.

Or Bentley

And we flame Ratten for his decisions...

In: Hughes
Out: Fisher

Re: Is Cleve Hughes worth picking up late in the draft ?

Yeah because we have such a tremendous record at taking blokes from other clubs and turning them into gold?
That may be true.......recently at least, and of itself may well be a good enough reason to stay away from him.

The reason that he has been delisted by the Tiges isn't sufficient enough for me though to not look at him.

Certainly our ability to make him better is key, the reasons why he didn't kick on at the Tiges would be key as well.

Each case should be taken on its merits.

I recall starting a thread a couple of years ago suggesting maybe we should take Steven King only to be told he was too old, too injury prone and was basically finished......why else would the Cats delist him right?

Ditto Gardiner.

Farren Ray never won a hard ball in his life......look at him now.

Maybe all this points to Hughes getting picked up by the Saints (:D) and they have better development than we do.

My point is (which is what I made in the post you quoted) is that just because one club doesn't find a player useful, shouldn't be the sole reason for him being overlooked by us. :thumbsu:

Re: Is Cleve Hughes worth picking up late in the draft ?

cleve has potential but will never eventuate, his main problems are

1 trick pony, lead mark kick.................no 2nd 3rd efforts
doesnt chase & doesnt tackle he is talented and thinks that will get him to where he wants to be.

Basically what else do we need, he would be a great foil for Fev if he could shake these so called mental demons. I think i would have mental demons playing at punt road too so i cant blame him.

Worth a punt i think.

Pssst. Richmond supporters and logic. It'd be like mixing ice cream and chicken and corn soup..

I am sick and tired of fencesitters.

Re: Is Cleve Hughes worth picking up late in the draft ?

I really think he is someone that could benefit to going to a clubs like ours where finals footy is a reality, and that he can play next to Fevola and really feed off his confidence. Have see him play a bit, and he can play. Good hands, and pretty good kick of the footy.

You only need to have a look at the Carlton/Richmond 100 year anniversary game from last year to see how much skill this kid has.

Roughies
Hooper - Short, heavily built player but looks to be able to carry his weight well. Got a good head on him and has good skills and with an AFL pre season who knows.

Who could slip to us/a second pick:
Green - played for Tasmania and there for in a "weaker" team/level. Perhaps he'll get the Robinson treatment.
Colyer - Many might think he is too short, most likely Hughes will .
Taylor - He's pretty skinny and not a super stand out, just add Kilograms.
Crichton - see Taylor's comments.
Hooper - He's short and heavy built.

Types
Pace
Gaff
Ah Chee - very good
Rohan - very good, very quick
Colyer - very fast
Lucas
Most of the WA side and a lot of the NT boys

Talls
Talia - might not be that tall.
Carlisle - he's the best from what I saw.
Fowler - forward
Hutchinson - forward. Defender?
Troy Taylor
Butcher

Inside onballers
Skully - very good

Ah Chee - very good
McAdam
Rohan - very good

Well spotted, Jesse Crichton has a lot of talent. Will put the necessary size on when he gets to an AFL club. Has a great work ethic, endurance and footy smarts, I've watched him play some great games this year. Loves his footy and will do what it takes to succeed. Not sure he will make it to the second round though.

Green I'm not sure is eligible this year, I'm sure I heard his captain say this during his interview on the weekend. Is a good player though, doesn't have the physical attributes of Chrichton but a very good player still. Has a great game in the preliminary final of the TSL seniors on the weekend, really stepped up in the last quarter and was one of the main reasons Clarence won.

Re: Serhat Temel - Worth a late pick?

Word is .... we're now the front runner for Gibson.

North Melbourne are refusing to negotiate with Hawthorn and we have offered him more money.

Who's word?

This would be a huge mistake, he is the type of defender we are looking for which is why I think it's complete BS. Unless he comes for a 3rd rounder which isn't going to happen.
