Steele Sidebottom?

What in God's name were his folks thinking?!

Rubbish. He is as good in the midfield as he is anywhere.
If he was no good in the middle then who was it that was wearing number 2 in the first half of the TAC Cup final and winning clearances ?
He is a dead set natural midfielder, great vision , composure under pressure, great skills on both sides of the body and ability to win the ball at stoppages.

I have always thought he was more of a HBF type player with exquisite skills, every time I have seen him play (only 4 - 5 times) he has started atHB, and puched his way into the midfield, if he was that good, why was he not used in the midfield for VC in the champs, if he was so good at the stoppages, becuase their were better pure midfielders ahead of him, :(
 
I dont know too much about him, so I'm not going to say much. But there has to be a reason he was rated around pick 10-20 before the TAC GF. Whatever that reason was couldnt have changed in one game.

He was used on the wing during the champs to make use of his running ability. This enabled him to push into defence as well as push up the ground and deliver into the forward 50. He was not playing half back ! Your argument about better pure midfileders is rubbish. Martiniello and Sheahan where used in the midfield for country during the champs but both played second string to Sidebottom during the Bushies finals series.
You are seriously kidding yourself if you think he is not a pure midfielder. In all three TAC Cup finals he started in the midfield and put in great performances in all three games.
The only difference between Rcih and Sidebottom is Rich has superior pace and will break the lines through the middle.
 
Are you leaning towards Sidebottom now Ant, I am not tottaly sure on who we should pick up, I am thinking IF we get another first round pick then we could pick up Swift with our first rounf pick, and possibly a Trengove with a mid first round pic (12 - Sydney's) but if we do not get sydneys pick then we should go for Hurley.

Just want to ask what position on the ground fits him the most?
The only question mark is his pace. We have lots of "not so quick" inside midfielders already, maybe getting a quick inside midfielder would complement our mids more.
 
saw a picture of SS in the paper today.

there's something Kade Simpsonish about Sidebottom.

... and he's weird name could be a burden also.

haven't made up my mind yet.
i know i want a midfielder, but i'm just not sold on anyone yet (apart from rich - who we won't get)

sidebottom ticks a lot of boxes. but i have a slight feeling his 10 goal haul in the TAC GF might have been a 'flash in the pan'. i am also weary of the Murray Bushrangers factor. i think they went through the season nearly undefeated, which boosts the profile of some of their players (eg. ziebell, sidebottom).
dunno anything about Hartlett, Yarran, the other guy (midfielder... forgot his name). i want to know what they actually look like first. i like players who are ready for senior action straight away -> i also like players with green eyes. :):p;)

He's averaged like 22 possies a game
and is in the AA

i say we draft him.

Yes i have a slight leaning towards him.
I think we should pick a midfielder first and i rank them in the order of Sidebottom just in front of Hartlett then Ziebell and Steve Hill.
I havn't really got much of a line on Swift becasue i have one under 16 dvd of him playing and thats it.
We won't be getting a first round pick. At this stage it looks like a second rounder for Lovett which may possibly traded on for Prismall.

Well of course his 10 goal performnce may well never be repeated but his form was no flash in the pan. You dont average 22 possesions a game during the TAC Cup season, be in the best 3 in all the finals games including two BOG's , average 20 possessions over the Champ games for Vic Country and make the AA side if you have not had a very good season.

Coming second at on the beep test at draft camp not good enough for your standards of athleticism. He has got a MASSIVE tank (got great endruance).

And your worried because he shot up in the ratings at the last minute? You'll find that if you actually watch alot of his games, he is very consistent. But you wouldn't of.

Actually he is very similar to Simpson. Except Sidebottom is more inside than Simpson and has more consistent disposal. And Sidebottom can kick with both sides. They look very similar...

haha yeah put a picture of him and kade next to each other. they look soo similiar.
weird name could be a burden wtf hahahaha.

best of luck in drafting him anyway, i hope he doesnt go pick 4 to port adelaide.
