So on top of being lightning fast, he also has a great vertical leap? So clearly he either can't play football, or has issues with his attitude/application? His brain fade late in the VFL season would indicate the latter may be the case. Such a shame... i reckon he's worth a final chance. Even delist him, and tell him he has a pre-season to prove his worth and we'll re-list him in the PSD.
Gourdis slipped so far in the draft because of Depression, he's been fighting it for several years and it led to major confidence issues in himself.
He seemed to be on the right track towards the end of 2010 putting in some really strong VFL performances and getting a call up to the senior side for the last couple games.
Everyone thought his development was on an upward curve at the end of 2010 but reports from the coaches and supporters who attending training were less then impressed with Gourdis and his application to training, he had a very poor pre-season and people who attending training were saying that Gourdis was having to constantly be told where to position himself in a drill, who to man up on what to do etc and his disposal was very ordinary.
The kid is an athletic beast, he has all the attributes an AFL footballer would want, but IMO is missing the most important AFL attribute of all and that is he's not a Footballer, rather he's an athlete playing Football.
