So how athletic is this Tom Downie, could he be a Zac Clarke type basketball convert or is he just good in the ruck then useless around the ground?

One poster on the draft board said he moved as if he was 180cm and his handballing and footskills were good for someone his size (205cm) but he is better by hand. Fitness seems to be his downfall at this point as he drifts in and out of games.

Thanks Toadvine, sounds like a good prospect. Fitness will come with being in a professional environment and doing plenty of hard training, basketball doesn't really require endurance as much as repeat efforts. Would we get him with our 2nd or 3rd rounder?

Hard to say given he only played two games at TAC level. There are very few Ruckman in this draft so he may go higher because of his potential and the value of the position he plays. My pick would be between 20-40.

Toby Greene going very well in the TAC cup gf at the moment. Got the first two clearances of the game an is in every thing. Rebounding out of the back half, goal assists up forward and tackling well.

169cm is way to short for AFL no matter how good you are. Would be more suited to an under 12's forward pocket role.

Generally I would say ok, but we all know there are exceptions. It's up to our recruiters/club to uncover and develop them. For every 10 or more stones we turn over we'll find that rough diamond. One of the great things about our game, not any one attribute makes a good/great player.

Greene is having a great TAC Cup Final. Just roved a ball from the centre and delivered on his left pin point pass on the lead at full pace.

Then he marked and goaled from 50m out just before the siren....

I want Grigg if he's still available at our pick. Unlikely though

If it's between Mckenzie, Green and Kavanagh, i'm leaning towards Mckenzie, the outside winger/flanker with the penetration in his left shoe that can let Cotch and Dusty focus on their inside games

I thought Toby Greene was best on ground in the TAC final. Viney had nothing on him. If Greene is available i would definitely want Richmond to take him.

He is a light midfielder. Only about 180cm and 70 odd kg's but he looks all class. Uses the ball very well and can win it himself. I think he would be the best compliment to Richmond's midfield but im not sure he will still be on the board when it comes to pick 14. IMO if he is then it's a no brainer

Dom Tyson reminds me of Scott Pendlebury. So much time on the ball. I was also impressed by Alex Woodard, Fletcher Roberts (197cm), Jackson Paine, Boyd.

If Greene is gone i think Kavanagh will be available and long term would be a player with more potential.

GWS are going to have to reach for some KPP's imo which will allow decent mids to fall our way.

Knightmare's mock has us landing Grigg, would be a great get IMO. Grigg and McKenzie are the ones I'm after, keep with the kicking mantra and you can't go wrong. Definitely need more midfield depth too.

I can personally guarantee Mitch Grigg wont be on the board at our pick. He will be snapped up by one of the Sth Australian teams. Port at 6 or Adelaide at 10. Could be an early favourite for rising star 2011! He has shown much more than Kav, Greene and McKenzie.

Great theory about GWS having to pick up KPP, leaving some quality mids to fall to us. GWS KPP's could be Patton (100%), Paine, longer, Bolger, Tomlinson, Talia? I can definitely see a good mid slipping to pick 14! I trust FJ already has someone in mind!

The draft highlight videos are up on the Draft & Trading board.

Was really impressed with Brad Mckenzie's left shoe, he was pin-pointing targets off a couple of steps and hitting them on the tit:thumbsu:

Mitch Grigg looks like he knows how to find the pill, his boot is fairly impressive also, one of his kicks hit a bloke on the lead from at least 55m away...........and he kicked it around his body:eek:

The other was Sam Docherty, his break away speed is great and he looks like a brilliant rebounding half-back. A team player:thumbsu:

Would be happy with any of these 3, and with GWS looking at KPP, one of them must fall our way:thumbsu:

McKenzie looks way to slow for mine. Looks like he moves in slow motion. I think players like that are the ones that get caught out by the increase in the pace of the game.

Can you tell us a bit about Toby Greene? 34 possies is a great effort in the GF and a couple of players like Sidebottom and Thomas have really shown their worth after fantastic TAC cup grand finals
