Markworth is a 19 year old who was playing in a under 18 competition , 12 months is a huge advantage , especially for a mid sized player who predominately played as a forward with spurts on the ball . The fact he is a 19 year old should see him slide to the 2nd round at least .
Not so sure he has a huge advantage pace. He's a twig in the upper body so he has no strength advantage and has only just started playing footy. So by that he would be disadvantaged having barely played more than a year or so.

Most of what i have read thus far about these kids in the draft is that there is not much quality KPP after the first 10 selections & we are very lucky that we are probably set for them except perhaps another kpb & a ruckman.

Midfield rich seems to be the nature of this draft & thats what we really need most of !

The most important thing is NOT TO TRADE our first 2-3 picks and go all out midfielders which means we cant afford to give up decent picks for 2nd rate ruckman like Maric !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bio I have on him is 189cm, 78kgs DOB 03/04/92
For comparison Batchellor 188cm, 78kgs, DOB 03/02/92
His lack of Footy has him touted as high gain, high risk , and after taking Nason, Webberly, Dea, Griffith, Taylor, Roberts in the 09 ND and Conca alot than he was generally rated last year , IMO it's time we stop trying to be to cleaver and went with a less risky pick , especially with our first ? By no means saying I wouldn't take him just not with our first !

Someone posted a 2 odd minute highlights package of Grigg round here somewhere. I know a highlights package by definition is going to show only a selection of the good, but geeze, couldn't help but notice the Cotchin similarities. Didn't look overly quick, but calm and great decision making and pinpoint delivery under pressure in traffic. Looked a natural footballer, as opposed to an athlete who can kinda kick a ball reasonably.

Forster's draft video is very underwhelming.
Really? Which part are you not impressed with? His kicking to advantage of a teammate off both sides or his tackling or his marking? IMO he is a beautiful kick off both feet and tackles hard and a good overhead mark.

very true great highlights but he is a medium defender we have loads of them so why would we use our first pick on him he might fall to our second pick but unlikely.

we really need midfielders Greene looks pretty good just from stats averages over 20 disposals. good mix of contested and uncontested and a few clearances. Taylor Adams is quick and can win his own ball alot like foley.

I was really impressed with Forster. His kicking looks exceptional. Can go long with penetration and accuracy or lower his eyes and spot up a short option. Has great size and looks to have good overhead ability. Doesn't look to have great inside ability though. Hands/reflexes didn't look too fast - although this will improve in a full time environment. Has a bit of Trent McKenzie about him although doesn't have the same pace and most likely not the freak distance on his kicking. Does have the big advantage of being strong on both feet however which Trent doesn't really have.

Could be a handy utility. Could probably start as a HBF, HFF, Wing and then later become involved in the midfield rotation as the quarterback type who lines up on the defensive side of the bounce. Basically he is most likely an upgrade for Shaun Grigg.

And while I agree with MOTiger that we definately do need more mids there's definately a need for a balance. Trent, Dusty, Axel are all inside mids that we will have for sometime. If we are going to take another inside mid at 14 it will be ideal for him to have another weapon to his bow. To be honest I've been grapling with the question of the type of mid we need to really balance out our midfield but there's no doubt that strong footskills and decision making along with height and size accross the park are still qualities that we desperately need. I think if Forster gets the ball 20 times a game and has 15 kicks he will be a damaging player.

Forster is a midfielder who can play back/forward.

He would probably start as a flanker/winger for a year or two.

EDIT: I think we will take Greene in the unlikely event he is still on the board at our pick.

I hate the idea of judging a player on a 2-minute highlight video.

I'm a fringe seniors player in a VAFA C side and i reckon that even a 2 minute highlights package from my season would look half decent... i remember hitting at least 2 targets this year! and im pretty sure i tackled a bloke once

Exactly. Which is why I was underwhelmed by Forster's. Not saying I don't want him, just that I need to know more about him. I was expecting to be really impressed because it's the highlights of his season, but there wasn't much in there that blew me away. Some good in and under stuff, a few neat kicks, but it didn't thrill me in the same way Grigg's and a few others' did.

Therefore its safe to say that we both agree that Grigg > Forster...

I don't think we need to target inside/outside mids. If you look at Geelong all of there mids can play both inside and out and that is what you want. If you pick up a Stephen Hill type he gets tagged too easily. 6-8 guys who can all win there own footy but have big tanks and great kicking skills sounds good to me:

Grigg/Greene/Kavanagh I would be very happy with!

Agree we want players that can do both. Im not a huge fan of Hill for the exact reason u mentioned. Too easy to take him out of a game for a first round pick. Having said that if u picked up a similar player with a 3rd or a 4th so be it.

Have u got a choice if those 3 are gone? We would be lucky if one slipped IMO.

Not that we really have a shot at him but Saad would be a tremendous inclusion to our forward line.

The highlight clips so far have Been made soley from the champs series. Froster has played his best footy at senior SANFL level this year where Grigg has struggled with the tempo by all reports. This is why people have such varied opinions on these two because it is so dependant on where and when you saw them play.

For what it's worth I would prefer Greene and Kavanagh above both but whether they'll be available in another story.

As for Saad, no doubt he is talented but for me he seems to lack the work ethic to overcome a close checking defender, which was evident when Dea tagged him out of the game at Coburg when coming back from injury

Greene and Kavanagh will be gone IMO. Greene's GF performance was no fluke. Kavanagh is too talented for GWS to pass up despite his supposive attitude.

Who do u like better out of Grigg/Forster Toady?

I only saw both players in the champs series at Visy and Etihad so with that in mind I prefer Grigg, I thought Luke Brown showed more rebounding from defense than Forster.

His lines where more aggressive and he showed more pace IMO.

Quality slips in every draft so there is no certainty that players won't be available at our pick except for the obvious top 6, nothing is set in stone. I remember Luke Parker and Lycett being regarded as top 10 last year.
