Cumming is getting a lot of love on the Richmond and Essendon boards and Sharp is getting a lot of love on the Essendon board

And rightly so.

If your midfield needs strengthening then thats who you would be looking at early in the draft, just saying.

They match with where they are at the time the bid is made (15/18/24). They don't evaporate until the match has been complete
So they can trade the pick before they match? Say We call Uwlands name at 2, Can they trade 15 for lower picks before they match?

The Big ******* loves Sharp, so I'm torn. On the one hand, us taking Sharp would make him sad. On the other, maybe he's not that great if that gronk likes him.

Axel is a ruck, forward, back.

Inequality in the WAFL is a big issue, but give me Axel over Benji any day.

Charlie is no loner with ball use issues, see Farrow and Duursma. He's technically strong but needs to kick less under pressure.

I also rate Kelly highly and think his clean hands should see him at least level with Rodriguez.
Both Axel and Benji will be available next year. Benji is likely to cost us our 2R, Axel our F1 (2027). Agree Axel projects better than BVR. Far more versatile, could play KP whilst he develops as a ruck, better kick and likely to end up taller. Has some real aggression too.

But does CDT do things that Jackson doesn't? I've only seen clips but CDT seems much more composed with the ball and a far better user. Also more natural winning it in general play (Jackson is more like NicNat in that he wins it at clearances but less in general play). Appreciate these are not necessarily traits needed in a ruck but very nice to have.
What’s stopping him playing as a mid with these attributes? Seems to have everything around the contest apart from rucking, which is ironic.

No reason he can’t just be a utility that roams around the ground. I’m aware that Duursma has a similar outlook so could be a risk going with both.

Added to that, I think CDT is 2 years away from playing AFL, and probably another 2 years before he is impacting games.
It really took Jackson 3-4 years to make an impact.
CDT is often compared to Jackson, who win the rising star award in his first year.

I glossed over that at first and didn’t open the article. Had a spare moment so thought I’d have a read

So glad I did. Was much more to it than I expected and really like that Lewis is getting so involved in the recruiting process. Also a big tick for the club for exploring a left field appointment among their recruiters

An AFLW player looking at and interviewing draftees for the men’s team is not something I’d expect to see on my bingo card
And Toddy gets a mention!

Very poor trade for us
1 WCE William Duursma

2 MEL Sullivan Robey
Agree with the higher likelihood that anyone who trades up for 2 will be doing so to beat out their competitors for Robey.
3 RIC Sam Gryl

4 RIC Xavier Taylor
Don’t think Richmond being Taylor here. Just let Young go as a talented KPD due to depth. Drafted Trainor last year. Think they go CDT or the next bpa midfielder here. Or trade for future capital.
5 ESS CDT

6 ESS Dyson Sharp
The reason why if we move 2 it has to be for 5 or at least 6, grabbing sharp is a must if we don’t stick and pick at 2.
7 WCE Sam Cumming

8 WCE Aidan Schubert

Will be traded

You love those Claremont Colts players ;)

Benji looked great throughout that whole finals series, how tall is he? If he hits the magical 203+ mark combined with his agility, WC need to get him.

Charlie grew throughout that series and I think he'll be a great get for WC as a late pick/rookie selection - still a litlle worried about his ball use/decision making.

I'll double down on Harper, think he will be a seriously good AFL player and comfortably better than his brother. In that first final loss, Claremont looked better when he was in the midfield.
Have you followed his posts - not a Claremont fan.

That said - a decent football brain

Early 2 round mock draft with pre-draft and live trades. Only final order. Happy to explain some of the bid matching and trades to arrive at the final result as well as some very notable omissions and sliders :)

I can see this happening and I'm not really angry with any of the choices. We could go big on choosing midfielders. Will Essendon trade 4,5 for pick 2 after we've selected Duursma that is the question?

Not being a Claremont fan is a good first indicator of a decent football brain

I have that as one of our pre-draft trades. 2, 13, F4 and FF3 for 5, 6, F3, F4 and FF4. Now that you mention it I actually didn’t realise I had us taking 5 midfielders. In hindsight I’d probably have us trade out of our later 2 picks once no bids are made on our players. I have the bombers trading up to secure Robey ahead of Richmond

That’s not a very poor trade, I’m taking Cumming and change over whoever’s at 2 any day.

Exactly this quote spots out to me as well. First indication we have very specific targets that might not be the consensus. Here's hoping.
Well he's not going to say he sees them as the top 2 is he. Top 6 says he rates them but doesn't show our hand.
