I have had a great laugh at bombers fans thinking there’s even a tiny chance they leave the draft with CDT and Robey

My initial post was just light comedy. I was only stating I’d like CDT to fall to us. Could be a bomb but I think he has the highest ceiling of any player in the draft. Dursma included.

Richmond are in a good spot - they get a look at either Robey or CDT plus their pick of Cumming, Grlj or X Taylor. It’s a good problem to have determining who’s the best fit

I’m in the camp that 2, 13 for 5, 6 is fair, but I could also understand why Essendon wouldn’t want to do that. It just depends for mine who has to do the leg work of the deal to get 13 down to 9. Reckon Essendon would take 2, 9 for 5, 6 given they got the best of the second tier and best of the third tier rather than 2 at the bottom end of the second tier. Think it’s fairer that Essendon do the leg work given they can package 13 and one of 21, 27, 30 for 9 then package the other 2 for one of gold coast’s picks

The trade floated by Twomey of 2,13 for 5,6 has long been a favourite around here and remains the case

I’d also be happy with a trade that landed us 5,15,30 for 2,41 with pick 15 being ontraded to either Adelaide or St Kilda for their F1

(Essendon get 15 and 36 off Gold Coast for 21 and 27)

Now whether Essendon offer that or West Coast entertain it I’ve no idea but I’d be happy with either outcome

Outside chance but this draft is considered quite ordinary and clubs are reluctant to give up future round 1 picks as next years draft is highly rated.

I doubt it. Makes for interesting discussion whilst we wait but it seems West Coast aren’t really interested in trading down unless they get something reckless from Essendon which is unlikely - think they’ll be happy with what they can get with 5 and 6

The trade last year was due to a unique set of circumstances that simply doesn’t exist this year. And the backlash from supporters over that trade wouldn’t have gone unnoticed either so unless the offer is clearly overs nothing will happen

Duff-Tytler is a good player, with the potential to be a great player. No tears from me if he ends up at West Coast with Duursma as company

I’ve just read the last 4 pages here debating CDT V Sharp. Pointless. If any WC supporters here have even the slightest/minute influence with the recruitment team at WC, please let them know Sharp is the gun player and let CDT fall through to Richmond. We’ll sadly wipe our eyes, having missed Sharp and reluctantly take CDT.

Sharps disposal is elite.Mightn’t look pretty but very effective.

“If” the recruiters do there job. then no matter what the outcome staying with our current picks ,trading picks etc. we are going to come away with good talent. the extra rookie spots add more depth, which will help out things at wafl level.putting more pressure on senior lvl. hopefully turning to better performances across both levels.

The top 5 are where the bulls are, the top 5 are the game changers. Having 20 other mids that have decencies and low strike rate doesnt change this.

We dont need a specialist inside bull.

The game changers tend to be the more attacking mids, like Harley and Hewett types.

Doesnt matter how many we've taken at the top end.

Itll be Harley + Duursma, Hewewtt is likely, and McCarthy should top up this high end ability section

stallon I tend to agree with most of your posts but Sharp’s hands are phenomenal. He has the strength to stand up in tackles in congestion, has the time and IQ to pick the right target and the skill to execute it. He has shown this time and time again at every level he’s played at.

His kicking is fine. He won’t be hitting NWM bullets but he’ll kick to advantage and won’t bite off more than he can chew. Smart footballer.

You are correct that Dev and Sharp would likely be competing for the same spot, but Sharp’s ceiling is infinitely higher.

I think most ppl have seen that there's much better rucks coming up in the next couple of drafts and would rather wait for them as opposed to getting another 2nd ruck/forward
Use our top picks this year on mids then when there's better rucks available grab them then

I am confident Archer can be a very competent ruckman - id at least put him in the "good" category long term. Hes also an ok forward, but people have issue with his goal kicking, so ruck full time or a move to D50(way less likely) seem like the to options.
CDT as the 2nd ruckman seems like an incredible asset, just like Luke Jackson(but his own style of it)

As I said elsewhere:
Archer + CDT combo which comes online as soon as Archer is ready to take the mantle - 2-4 years time
OR
Walsh/JVR + Archer combo which is at least 6-7 years away

I dont see a huge difference in the pairings - Archer should be a better ruckman than ruck/fwd, and CDT would be a better ruck/fwd than Archer(comfortably imo)
We have well established that we dont care for an elite tap ruckman, in that regard Archer should be MORE than fine. So what value is there for waiting 2 years to finally address our long term ruck stocks? Axel or JVR might not even be available to us LOL

Just take whats in front of us now and fix the ruck properly
