A serviceable ruck picked up via trade when we are hitting finals is fine, and has proven fine in plenty a premiership side. From where we’ve been - picking the best two mids if that comes off will be way more influential in us contending in the years to come
Remember that our 2018 flag was based around a brilliant spine and serviceable midfield. Don't underestimate the value of elite talls.

Just the HUN comments on who Richmond and Bombers might be looking at:

TIGERS:
With West Coast being favoured to take Willem Duursma and Cooper Duff-Tytler with the first two picks, the Tigers may look to players like Eastern Ranges draft bolter Sullivan Robey, Central District onballer Dyson Sharp, Oakleigh Chargers speedster Sam Grlj and Eastern Ranges defender Xavier Taylor and Grlj impressed for the Tigers in two VFL games late in the season, with VFL coach Jake Batchelor declaring he was “going to be a heck of a player”.

BOMBERS:
Expect Willem Duursma, Cooper Duff-Tytler and potentially Sullivan Robey to be off the board before the Bombers enter the frame, but players like South Australian captain and onballer Dyson Sharp, South Australian key forward Aidan Schubert or Eastern Ranges defender Xavier Taylor could be available and would suit nicely.

You may not be aware of the unrest dislike with Dons and Blues. At 5 assuming Blues hold it, I expect a bid on Dean. Pick 5 will likely be 8 by then.

I would be very surprised Dean is a mid teens bid
Reckon Richmond could bid on Dean if they see him as the best KPD. They cut Blight, Koschitzke, and traded Young.

This further enforces my view that the game has changed & that elite ruckman are no longer as effectual on results than they used to be… unless you think Darcy Fort and a retiring Big O are superstars of their craft

Something I noted going through that article - and I read it three times to make sure I hadn’t missed it - there’s not a single mention of Sam Cumming being linked to any club

Not us. Not Richmond or Essendon or Melbourne or anyone else

Barker, Dovaston and Grlj are mentioned multiple times but Cumming is a ghost

Just on Read.

Archer Reid compares pretty well against Ethan Read considering one is in a one win team and the other is in a top 6 team. Both from the same draft and Ethan is holding his place in that team last year.

Really hope Archer can sort out his goal kicking over the off season.
I love Archer as a prospect. The fact we're pumping games into him despite the fact we don't know where he plays his best footy tells the story. He's worth investing in and will be a gun.

Balta, Miller arent old with Trainor and Gibcus still very young.

They arent in desperate need, thats probably a need for a couple of years time when Balta gets to 27/28, unless they have 0 faith in Gibcus(which would be understandable)

Exactly what I noted too. He is being slept on, his shoulder injury may be all that stopped him from being spoken about higher up the order.

His field kicking is a knock, but his athleticism and versatility is exactly the type we seem to be drafting at the moment. I’m worried the club doesn’t rate Sharp due to his perceived lack
of versatility and athleticism but I do think Duane will be all over Cumming and would be surprised if he wasn’t selected if we traded out 2,13 with Essendon or Dees.

Those 2 had the most stacked midfield in the comp. We have the most shit midfield in the comp.

But addressing Ruck 'sort of' with the likes of CDT doesnt fix the midfield. What would fix it is getting elite mids in the highest probability is that the best mids in a draft have the best chance at improving our midfield. A pretend ruckman doesnt help us.

CDT is not a ruckmen. His rucking capabilities are shithouse, end of. He will be deep forward in the professional game, would be an absolute bank of pick, if we didn’t have the stock that we have in our forward line currently

CDT doesn't just have to play Ruck or deep forward. He's a great runner with good ball use and contested ground ball ability

He's also not one of these skinny ruckman type that will take years to develop and build his body

He's thick through the hips and has powerful legs 😉 Think he plays year one without any drama.

I'm nearly 100 percent sure the Eagles will pick him. i.jpeg

Cumming is seriously overrated here. 2nd rounder for mine

Perfect.
Gives me Lenny Hayes vibes.
