Barring a deux ex machina occurrence the reality is WCE are finishing bottom 3 in 2026.

Cannot afford to have another 1 win season but frankly we need another influx of high end talent in 2026 before Tazzy concessions kick in.

5 wins and pick 2 next year i could live with. Let 9nthmond have a turn with the coveted spoon.
I expect us to finish bottom 4 but that's not guaranteed. The following teams could easily end up vying for the bottom:

-Richmond: it will get worse before it gets better because they still have a lot of older players to move on
-Bombers: looks like they need to do another rebuild (or actually do a rebuild) and could easily become destabilised from off field issues (Merrett, player rift with coach etc)
-North: should be moving up the ladder but haven't. May still be in bottom 4
-Port: list is rubbish and they have no draft picks to replenish. Wheels will fall off at some point
-Melbourne: had a fire sale on their senior mids and seem to be embracing a mini rebuild.

Then you've got the shock sliders that occur every year. On average, one top 4 drops out of finals (my money is on Pies and with their age profile, they could fall off a cliff) and someone drops out of 5-8 (please be Freo).

I think we'll finish 2nd or 3rd last with around 5 wins, but frankly, that's where we should have been this year if we'd won the games we should have (Bombers at home, Tigers away, North in Bunners). Footy isn't linear and we could easily have a little jump if the young guys go up a gear and Minis gameplan clicks (maybe 8-10 wins type of thing).

Clarke has said:
  • There is a fair bit of interest (picks 1 & 2)
  • No offers have been made

If i were to trust what Clarke has said, i'd be assuming conversations have been had, but no formal offers have been recieved yet.

"No one has had a conversation with us or put something forward as to what that looks like." mean no interest so far.

You might want to listen to some of his other interviews over trade-week

Did you even read the quote. It was direct from Rosa from Essendon…
1) The article you quoted did not say what moving up means. Moving up from pick 20 to pick 13?
2) We did not have Pick 2 when the article you quoted was published
3) Have you read the latest from the Eagles' website about 2025 draft?

Who do you believe? Your supporting club latest announcment or an old article which was not even talking about pick 1 or pick 2?

As I said I believe in the official annoucement of the club.

"No one has had a conversation with us or put something forward as to what that looks like." mean no interest so far.

Whether you think you have more inside information is up to you.

Every year: We lack elite talent!

Every year: We get top 3 picks, this year, two of the bastards!

Every year: How can we trade out of the top 3 to get multiple lesser picks?

Every year: Why the **** did we trade down and miss out on the top end talent!? The only elite young talent in the midfield is Harley, taken with Pick 1! Are we stupid!?

(Yes)
We could always trade down and pick up a bust like Bo Allen

I've actually been wondering what the knock on Addinsall is. Any posters ITK (AsterixTheGaul CountryLad Eastcoasteagle etc) who could shed some light on why he isn't ranked above the likes of Farrow, NHH, Greeves, Poo #2 and others around that pick 13 mark?
He's 182cm so on the smaller side for a midfielder and a good honest mid without the flair of some others.
13 might be a tad too high, but not a bad shout.

Serious question. Next year's draft, is there another mid we're going to be talking about taking as an absolute must pick like Sharp this year?
There's a better mid in next year's draft.
He's just likely to be unavailable for us to select, so we won't talk about him much on here.

Are Darcy Fort and Big O superstars? No. But they did win the ruck battle on the day.

In fact you have to go back to 2015 to find a team that won the GF while carrying a losing ruckman.

The idea that ruck is meaningless in the outcome of GF or premiership success isn’t really true.

I said if we have 1 & 2 we shouldn’t chose a ruck as they are less impactful on success than if two starting mids were to pay off. So just add one via trade / FA when we have the midfield to contend in the first place.

And also… the absolute F you talking about?
