So is pick 2 this year, which we know is pick 2. If they want that pick in a very shallow draft my word we have to make them pay for it.

If we trade for 6 instead of 5 it will be on the proviso that we can give Essendon 1 name that they can't take when they are on the clock at 5. This will be a favour to Essendon so they have a better chance to sell the trade to its members. I'd also expect a little extra on top of just 6 and 15(F2 or FF2 perhaps).

5 and 15 doesn't feel like enough, especially given the list spot situation. Wonder if there's a way to loop Carlton in and have it end up with them having 11 and 15 and us getting 9 while keeping 13.

Rating for Sharp all top 6 in open draft. Input that it’s more likely needs after Duursma. Both CDT and Sharp move from 2 to 6, but clubs are being very coy this year. Cal will have to do some serious sucking up to get his perfect ordering.

Any idea why draft watchers seem to have CDT and perhaps Robey as separating themselves from the pack (excluding Duursma)?

Next year or the year after when there are two WA ruck prospects that are exponentially better RUCK prospects than CDT?

From what I've read here, there is a standout top player (Duursma) and then it's pretty even in the rest of the top 10 (depending on if you think CDT is a standout top 2 which I don't).

In my trade above, I'd hope to get Duursma and Sharp, then have flexibility to take the best that slides out to 8 or 9. Dream would be Cumming, but it would also let us get Schubert or Dovaston. Id be very happy with a draft that gives us two complimentary mids (Duursma Sharp) and then some forward depth (Dovaston or Schubert depending on if we want small or tall). Our NGAs then give us developing players for mid/forward, so we will have added options to address all our deficiencies (except ruck which sounds like 2026 is a better draft for that).

Nail a draft like the above and we have talent developing across the field. Allows us to maximise the chances of getting a balanced team in a couple of years.

Though personally I find it hard to believe there is not much of a difference in quality between 2 and 5 but there is a reasonable difference between 8/9 and 13 especially considering the further down the draft you get the more bids come in and therefore theoretically the draft is more comprised th later the pick you have. Not a draft expert at all and happy to be wrong.
