Well on the bright side - our recruiting is so left-field nobody knows what we're going to do. Especially us

It's like a 'WTF?' christmas every year.. we're half surprised, half shocked, kinda hopeful the club knows what it's doing, and scrambling to find any information about a player nobody has heard of

FREMANTLE could pull a selection from left-field with Michael Apeness being mooted to find his way to the lovely city of Fremantle. Recruiters believe he can play a role as early as round one next year with a body that’s ready for AFL.
The Dockers still hold keen interest in Launceston Captain/Coach Mitch Thorp, whilst rebounding defender Nick Robertson could come into the mix at 37, too.

You may have to.:)
How would you feel if we took Apeness?

Not great, to be honest. I feel like we have ruck/forward prospect depth like no other team in the comp. As Sonny has shown, a true forward is priceless in the big games. So, in the absence of any decent KPF prospects I'd be happy for us to pick up the best available KPD and then get someone like Thorp as a bit of insurance for Gumby, then either keep developing Tabs/Hannath or keep flashing our money around until we snare a Black or Hogan (haha I say that as if we have a choice).

I don't quite get this. If we got apeness why would we get him because we have the belief of him playing round 1. Isn't that why we got gumby? If we did take apeness there is zero chance we would take thorp then. I would much prefer us to take a mid with our first pick if McCarthey is not there rather than reaching for a lop that isn't worth that pick. Reminds me a lot if Robbie tarrant. Bondy on the radio last night said that they were after a kpf and a mid

This is just whispers she has picked up, there may be nothing in it.
I agree with you, if we take Apeness with our first we will likely take a midfielder with our second so we would be unlikely to take Thorpe. My only guess (if it is even true) is that Gumby will be the leading forward and Apeness would be the contested mark type.

Did he specifically say a tall forward? Someone in another thread said Bondy just said "KPP", I'm kinda hoping it was KPF.

According to the Draft Machine on the AFL website the preferred picks by the fans are: Marsh at No17, Thorp at No37 and Tom Vandeleur with No58. (Vandeleur is a 193cm defender from South Fremantle)

Which means they have their eye on a rebounding defender :D .
