Woops forgot R.Murphy, sub him in for Mcdoguall. If you say that forward line isn't good then I'd hate to think of your opinion of your forward line now...

i understand where ur coming from, however let me just say...

Johnson is a superstar, and can easily play the FF role when in full flight.

Fevola is an idiotic child and would add nothing to our team DUE to his behaviour. Ok he is a good footballer when he wants to be, but i dont want him at the dogs, and i wouldnt give up our 1st pick for him.

Boyle i like but is too injury prone, and we would have to give a fair bit to get him i would imagine.

Gia i dont rate AT ALL. Soft inconsistant, and would not get a game ahead of hahn in the hff possie for mine.

Murphy's best possie is on a hff, although he does play the chf role well. He is much more dangerous roaming on the flanks i feel.

Didnt want aker at the club either, as he is past it in my opinion.

And no i dont rate our fwd structure now either.

F: Aker Walsh Hahn
HF: Johnson Tiller Murphy

If these players are kept on the list and have a good pre season i think this set up could work and should be trialed in the NAB Cup.

Deep forward: Walsh the vocal point and Hahn to releave pressure with Aker crumbing.

Half Forward: Johnson to be realeased up the ground. Tiller and Murphy to be the lead up forwards like O'Keefe and McLoghlin for the Swans.

If Doogs shows good signs in the next 2 matches maybe he could replace Tiller at CHF.

Opinions please???

This the same Walsh that has played 1 senior game his entire life and played at Werribee reserves yesterday?

Yea, the same Walsh that has kicked 15 goals in 4 matches(5,2,4,4 Not including the game he did his hammy) after not playing the game for 18 months. Would offer more to our list then trading a draft pick for another AFL player that has been weighed and measured and deemed not good enough for AFL. Walsh is an unknown quantity, and while he still has untapped potential he can be anything. Its the players who have already used their potential and failed that scare me.

Just a quick one, who iare the last bunch of forwards you guys have picked out of the draft in the last few years?
Higgins i can think of off the top of my head, though I don't know if he is really a forward, but hell he can finish.

Do you think the one eade has his eye on may be Kozi from the Saints. Would we offer the kitchen sink for him? He is a KP Ruck/Forward

Charman?

I was Perusing the Lions board and it is reported that Jamie Charman has rejected a 3 year deal from the lions and has just purchased a house in Melbourne as his Girlfriend now lives there and loves it.

Is this the ruck/forward option we have been wanting?

Re: Charman?

Ruck - yes, Forward - no.

Would love him but I'd doubt that a guy would buy a house in Melbourne, intending to live there, while he is contracted at Brisbane. Even IF he left Brisbane he could end up many places, not just Melbourne - and even if in Melbourne, he'd want to live close to training, but he wouldn't know where he's going to be training...

In summary - I wouldn't go getting too excited.

Was quoted only weeks ago saying he was keen to stay. He has started a business here in Brisbane as well.... I can't see him leaving.

Re: Charman?

He's a good ruckmen and I'm not sure he would leave the Lions when he has a solid number 1 ruckmen spot there. But if we could get him, I would love to have him on the team at least he can play the game above average rather then our ruckmen.

Is certainly the type of hard bodied yet player that we could well do with.. I just can't see him leaving though, would be an absolute coup if we could secure him.

Hawthorn vs Dogs - Drafting philosophy tells the story?

We've just been pumped by a team that we were, apparently, a year or 2 ahead in terms of development.

Does this vindicate and go part of the way to proving that drafting for needs is a better philosophy than drafting best available?

If we could get I don't see why we wouldn't try, he always seems to sneak forward and get goals and can play around the ground. But as I said why would he leave the Lions? Just doesn't seem in my opinion that he would leave Brisbane.

You need some bigger, tougher players. Bulldogs were smashed at hard ball gets and contested marks.

Needing to constantly run hard in order to get the ball forward is very tiring and easily falls apart late in the game.

Yes.

Re: Hawthorn vs Dogs - Drafting philosophy tells the story?

One thing unfortunately stuck out in my mind. Rob Murphy (one of the Doggies' best forwards usually), was the same size, if not smaller, than the flanker he was playing on in Grant Birchall.

Alot to look forward to when the likes of Williams and Andrejs mature. Just need at least a couple more 195cm+ players.

Re: Hawthorn vs Dogs - Drafting philosophy tells the story?

Edited for Accuracy;). The teams quite tall otherwise.

Yes it is. Wight was so good last year but this year looks short of confidence. Was he injured at the start of the year?

We need some fat to add to our tallth lol

I've heard rumblings that Ken McGregor could be involved in a move to the Bulldogs.

I know hes nothing special, but with your forward line, you'd definetely take him as a target up forward. Probably just an upgrade in our 2nd round picks would be required.

Re: Hawthorn vs Dogs - Drafting philosophy tells the story?

Sometimes you have years where nothing really works. I think the players have not worked anywhere near as hard as they did last year. Maybe reading too much press about how good they were and where they were going and expecting it to all come without the hard work.

Geelong went backwards for a while before going forward, I think the Doggies need to strengthen some positions but they need to work a lot harder to get back to that 2006 form.

No. He wont leave and if he did the Tigers, Pies and Dees would make a superior offer.

Can we please stop calling Charman a forward. It sounds like people are trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone(ruck and forward). He's a ruck, can pinch hit up forward, but nothing more then Darcy, Skipper, Fraser, White, Taylor, Everitt ect ect.

Be a good effort is we could get him across the line, but the chances are slim...very.

Walsh is a dud. D U D. Werribee named 12 possible interchange
players for Werribee seniors on sat. Walsh was not named. Why?
Because he is playing exactly where he belongs because of his
speed, endurance, agility and toughness. He was a bad #4 pick.
He ain't gonna get any better. Move on.
