Like your thinking - what do we do about our woeful ruck stocks?
Draft one. Put some muscle on Wight and try and turn him into one. Skip is OK and hopefully Minson will get a game next year. That is if his back is alright. Street as backup.

Obviously we need to draft a young ruckman in this draft and start developing him (this need should have been addressed several years ago)
I seriously think that the Doggies should pick up Lance Whitnall and play him as a forward.
You can pick him up for nothing in the PSD.
But it would be really showing our desperation if picked up Lance.
Your list of recycled players, while amusing is on the mark.
The list was funny, until our own forward line become the butt of the joke.![]()
We have a forward line?? Oh yeah thats the problem or is it?
No its not the only problem. But it isn't a strength.
People here talk McMahon down here because in the second half of this year his kicking has been down. At the start of the season he was in our top five players to only finish in bottom 22. He is a fast running half back which a lot of teams would love to have. Granted he wants to go back does not diminish his value in my eye's. I think if he was in the draft he would be a first round draft pick. Personally I want the dogs to go down the Hawthorn road and swap players for picks and use those picks to build a side that will be strong for a ten year period not trying to bolster a weakness with hack s that other teams think will not make it. North have learnt that it does not work and have changed there strategy. Westcoast are great example of swapping hacks for picks and getting better players for it.
To answer that question I don't want anyone from the crows just picks.
our first round pick, plus crows first round pick (traded for macmahon), to get Charman or Fev?
So if Carlton lose this week they would have draft picks 1,4,5,9 or there abouts in a draft where supposedly only the first 8 or 10 picks are quality if we went down this path. Good for Carlton, not so the rest of the comp.

I think we really need to off load some of our non-performing players rather than draft picks if we want to try and persuade a quality player to join our club. We should all things be equal (Walsh excluded) be able to get a very good player with our first draft pick (4 or 5), I think it would be a big mistake to get rid of this draft pick unless Clayton is convinced that this pick would not get us a player we require. Having a look at our list we are thin everywhere so I can't see Clayton taking this path.
trading three hacks wont get you a superstar. if you want to get a quality player to the club you are going to have to give up juicy draftpicks and/or a quality player in return. which underperfoming players were you thinking of, if not macmahon who wants to go home?
I have stated in previous threads that we have about 5 to 8 recognised players on our list that I would not trade, the rest are up for grabs. I haven't included the draftees from 06, I would be keeping all of them.
Off the top of my head the players I would not consider trading are:
Griffen, Gilbee, Cooney, Higgins, Williams, Murphy, Harris??
Take your pick from the rest. And from the rest I will not be giving them up for nothing. If Carlton want Cross then it's a straight swap for Fevola, perhaps we might ask for a bit more, but hopefully you catch my drift.

Cross is untradable. He is an absolute gun. Sure he had a pretty bad year, but it was all to do with his knee injury.
Cross and Boyd will be the grunt of our midfield in a few years time.
Cross has had an awesome year. Will still finish top 5 in B&F and he missed about 8 games.

having a mercenary attitue like that will create more trouble down the line. plus robbing our midfield of one of our best players isnt going to help our cause much either. its just unrealistic and it wont and shouldnt happen.
Priority picks are not needed in my opinion however if you like you could give the priority to the lowest average over the three years.
