I dont understand all the hype about meesen he is yet to prove himself so we would be better off with Street, Minson and Skipper than wasting our time with meesen. He was terrible for Norwood last week. Sure he is tall but so was Nick Bruton. Its just not the answer.

yeah the more i think about meesen the more im leaning not towards him.

If Jordy wanted to go home i would be asking jordy and 3rd rounder for mcgregor and 2nd rounder.

not too sure on mattner though.

If we cant get Cameron wood then i would stick with the 3 ruckman we have.

After watching jolly last night i wouldnt give a 2nd rounder for him.

Agree. Meesen had potential 2 years ago, he hasn't even showed a lot at SANFL level. At least McMahon can get in the best at AFL level, and when he has been dropped this year, the 2 times he went back to Werribee he was named in the best. Clearly AFL standard where as Meesen isn't.

Jared Moore of the Swans is another player worth throwing a very late draft pick at or picking up in the pre-season draft if delisted. He's a good inside midfielder who has got muscles on his muscles, that isn't likely to get a permanent gig in the Swans midfield rotation.

chris judd if he wants to come home do we go for him?

what do we give up for him?

how much will he cost?

ok you ask about judd, but if he was to come home i dont think we will or should chase him that hard.

Honestly I don't think Judd is needed for us, I would rather go for a forwrad or a ruckman before we start throwing our high draft picks and trade bait on Judd.

What do you guys think it would take to get pick #5? Could a combination of Hille and Johns/ Bradley get it?

So often I see people suggesting that we trade draft picks for proven players.
I really dont believe that this is the way we should be heading. Can we really contend next year? I don't believe we can. Thats why if anything I feel its more resonable for us to offload players in return for draft picks (if we trade at all). Seems to have worked out well for the hawks (even though Thompson and Hay wanted out) and I believe if we cannot contend dont prematurely go after the big fish for short term gain.

Also correct, from what I have heard from Hawthorn, they would have taken Tambling ahead of Franklin, but had Roughead ahead of both.
They wanted Franklin so much that they didn't even have him on their pre-prepared draft list - at Pick 5 Buckenara had to take time to find Lance's name on the alphabetical list of every player who nominated, and proceeded to read out the number of LUKE Franklin, a 20 year old nobody from Perth before being put straight by someone else at the table.

The idea that getting both Roughead and Franklin was some kind of "master plan" is complete and utter bullshit.

Can't see that happening.
I can't see us giving up pick 5 at all unless it's for a superstar.
Johns and Bradley while tall are both pretty unproven at top level.
Johns hasn't shown that much for all the rep, Bradley's a bit of a tweener, not quite a ruckman, not quite a KPP. Hille while big may have been surpassed by the more athletic ruck types going around.
All 3 were fringe players by the end of the season so I can't see them being worth a pick that high.
Could see us possibly doing a swap for players and/or lower picks somewhere along the line though. Read something about the Dons sniffing around Gia, but they have a history of being fairly arrogant in what they offer for good players (to us at least).

I would have thought Johns would have a negative effect on a trade. Just taking up room on the list and salary cap. 1 dimensional and can only play forward and has no skills once the balls hits the ground and no endurance.

Hille might be a player who is worth pick 10 to 20. He is 26 but his form this year has gone backwards. Awesome long kick but sprays them a lot. Decent ruck but no more than that. Not very mobile. Huge huge man but does not really open things up for his midfielders. Cant run with Cox and others and is to slow to play up forward permanently.

But even decent rucks are worth a fair bit in trades. French was not to flash and got a decent pick from Carlton. Jolly was no world beater when he went to Sydney and got a pick 15 for him.

I would think pick 22 is not enough for him though. Pick 5 is way way to much.

I'd think Hille would more likely be a player swap. Essendon are after speed and we've got some of that.

Re: Trade & Delist & Recruit

unlike many doggie fans i think gia will be our next captain, so shouldn't be traded and he will be fitter and better next year

gia is dead meat. More inside word im afraid. On the outer in a big way. will be traded to essendon probably and could be included in the deal to get hille

Funny you should say that, heard indirectly from a dogs player that they are looking at Johns for McMahon. Just hope it does not come through.

Talk of trading with Essendon is a bit premature given that the new coach may have his own ideas.

Also, couldn't see McMahon going anywhere but to SA.

As for Gia going, I HOPE ITS TRUE as the bloke has a pea heart:)

I thought if Mcmahon was going to be traded it would be back to SA for persomal reasons?

He would be a good fit for Essendon who need some leg speed at the back and a ball carrier. Might push him onto the wing as well.

But with Essendon having pick 6 (way to much) and pick 23 (not enough) its hard to work anything out.

You would think McMahon for Hille might be more like it. As for Johns? Well he can really only play FF and he can only take marks on the lead. He might be tall and built like Tarzan, but he cant take contested marks or bring the ball to ground. He actually plays likes Robbins. He might look imposing but its all on the lead and he needs space. So a Tiller would struggle to geta game if Johns was being played and might crowd Johnson a bit. He lacks any running power to play up the ground and looks really poor when tried down back.

I would look at Ryan Murphy from Freo. Waite from Carlton. Fisher from Carlton. Dunn from Melbourne. Dowler from Hawthorn.

Those are a few I would be looking at, Rather than a huge trade like Fevola or a sideways step like Johns.

I also would not be looking at 28 year olds with injury concerns like McGregor or Perrie.

Young talls who have shown they can play. Or a kid like Dowler who might be a little surplus to needs with Thorp as backup and even Williams who is a FF when he returns as well as Roughead and Franklin and Boyle. That does not mean they want to trade him but might be interested in offers.
