Just a question guys, why hasn't Minson been playing at the senior level lately? Form or Injury? Because the games iv'e seen him play at VFL level he's just been good and not dominating like you should in VFL, whereas when Hille was dropped 1 week for his attitude problem he dominated the VFL. BTW, how old is Minson?

Minson would be 22. He was dropped early in the season for form. He would have been playing seniors for the last month but cut his season short due to back related injuries. Don't be confused though, a lot of us rate Minson as a future gun ruckman. Ruckman take a while to find there feet at AFL level and i'd say Minson is still ahead of most ruckman his age. He's very important to the future of this club.

Minson had some horrible timing this year.

He started the season in the firsts but had a couple of bad ones at the same time Street had a couple of good ones for Werribee (Darcy had the other ruckman's spot so it was Minson v Street).

Street played 3-4 good games when he first came in but then tailed off. Just as Street lost form, Minson got injured and missed about the last 8 games.

Minson was good in the VFL (15 marks and 4 goals in one game) and would have come back in if he didn't do him hammy.

I think we'll stick with Minson, Street, Skipper, Wight to manage the ruck and pick up a ruckman to develop from the draft.

at 23yo Minson is the player we need to step up.
Eade thinks he will, so do I.

Why do supporters of every other club over-rate their players and we under-rate ours?

McMahon is clearly worth a first round pick on his own. 24yo, 120 games, pace, fantastic disposal. Has finished at the pointy end of our last 3 B & F's and was probably leading this year until his partner left.

I've watched Ryan Murphy twice recently on ABC2 and his attack on the ball and intensity is Tim Walsh standard. I'd have a crack at him because he's young and talanted but I'd only trade Ray if he wanted to go home and I'd want change.

Gia is a far better player than he's been given credit for by Bulldog supporters and quite frankly, I don't understand it at all. The only thing I can think of is they're bitter that he hasn't become the superstar that we hoped for. Hille would give us nothing more than we already have with Minson and because neither of them are viable forward options and play such a similar style, I can't see how you could play them both in the same side.

No one will a first round pick for McMahon, his been out of form for about 18 weeks. He was also dropped twice this year and came back in the team because we got injuries to Griffen & Gilbee. I would love to get a first round pick for him, but being realistic, you don't get a first round pick for a guy that has been in and out of the team and not a star.

You just can't argue, saying we got McMahon and Ray with our 10th and 4th pick, so we deserve to get the same in return. Look at Walsh we got him with out 4th pick and just delisted him for nothing in return. Look at McDoogal he was pick 5 put came to us for nothing.

I believe that McMahon, Ray and Gia are good footballers, that why they have some worth at the moment. But I don't believe they a premeirship players, that what we need.

You left out the bit where McMahon had played 120+ games, finished in our top 10 B&F 3 years in a row and was probably lending our B&F before his personal problems became an issue.

you would have to say that he has a lot more good form than bad since eade came to the club, and both SA clubs would be stupid not to take him if thats where he wanted to go.

Facts are McMahon was basically a liability for most of this year, got dropped more than once and when he played made some awful mistakes.
His start to the year was okay but it went downhill very quickly.

Forget his top ten b&f;s, 100 game +, fact that he was a first round pick.
This is all irrelevant now. Yes he had personal issues but who is to say that he will go back to S.A., click his fingers, have a smile on his face and start to hit targets, run & carry and win one on one battles? There are no guarantees he will get back to anywhere near his best.

Therefore his market worth will be dictated by the buyer or we risk losing him for nothing. Personally if we got a first rounder for him I would be very surprised and very happy.

Sorry but saying he was liability is BS. He was in the side more than out. He wasn't alone in making awful mistakes and better than some played more games than him.

We have to forgot his background up to the point his started playing badly and remember from there? Thats logical. No guarantee he'll be crap still either. Its all in the past not just his good form.

Sorry you are under valuing him. I'm not say we will get a first round pick for him but at least a second round is what he is worth.
Personally I would try and convince him to stay because he is still very valuable.

I think your both right on different points

Like you Ernie, I'd prefer McMahon remain a Bulldog. There's too many on here who just want to trade players for the sake of it. I think Aqua posted yesterday a stat that there were only about 3 players who hadn't been considered for trade!

I really hope we keep Jordy. I don't think it's a great idea to trade someone coming off a season where their form was much below their actual talent level.

Dont know how to multi quote and all that but want to clarify
a few things.

maybe saying he was a liability perhaps a little harsh but he was awful
and just because other players were also bad doesnt make any difference to what other clubs think of him as an individual.

I would be happy to keep McMahon if he wants to stay - and thats the key. If his head is still messed up then I would also be very happy to trade him. I dont think I 'under value' him though. First rounder I think is ambitious but thats just an opinion. His value would have gone down after last years form.

Is McMahon Contracted for next season? If he is, then at least the S.A clubs can't bend us over. What i mean is, Jordy can ask to go all he wants, and maybe keeping him isn't the best option, but if all they offer is a 2nd round pick at number 30 in the draft at least we can tell them where to stick it. You never know, in 12 months time Jordy could be loving the club again. Like he was when they filmed the Peter Jackson adds.

IMO, I'd be extremely upset if we spent pick 10 on McMahon. Firstly, let me say that I do rate him but he's just not a priority for us. The club has indicated that adding grunt to the midfield is our priority and unfortunately McMahon, whilst a good player, wouldn't provide that grunt.

Just because we have a lack of hard bodies doesn't mean we have to get rid of all the fast/outside players in the team.

Jordie has delivered his fair share of highlights over the past 2 years and while he may be considered 'excess' keeping him allows Griff to move up to the midfield, which is good for the team...

I'd rather keep him than off him.

Agreed. Players go through rough patches and 2007 was a disappointing season for the club generally. Trading McMahon for less than he's worth is not the smartest move, so UNLESS he really wants to go home I'd resist the urge to trade him.

Fair Grab! Could do worse than take a punt on him! He may not be as good as Trent Bartlett, Allen Jakovich or John Georgiades, but really, who is! Just a name i have noticed nobody has thrown up as a potential trade target, David Hale from the Kanga's. B4 McIntosh hit form he looked like a pretty good prospect and was a high draft pick also. Possibly wouldnt have to give up the world to get him and Kanga's have loads of ruckmen so therefore would probably consider the trade.

I don't think there has been a person here who wants to trade Jordy. The speculation is about whether or not he wants to go back to SA.

It's very exciting to get a top 10 draft pick, us supporters get all aquiver about what that player might turn out to be. The reality is, though, that half of them don't turn out to be any good.

Any club would pay a late 1st rounder for a player of Jordy's talent because he's already proved what he can do at AFL level. You know you'll get 100 good games out of him without waiting 4 years for him to play 50 bad ones first (by which time Edwards, Goodwin, McLeod, Burton etc will be gone).

I read in another thread someone saying they'd be 'excited' if McMahon was offered up...

Jordie is a gun and when he and Gilbee are up and running, we're hard to stop. I want to keep him but do realise if we're chasing a ruck/KPP forward we'll have to give something up and if Jordie wants to head home then it's an option to get a win/win scenario for us and him. But I hope we do everything to keep him.
