If the dogs give there 2nd pick for Hudson and there 3rd pick for Callan....whats left?

Pick 5 then pick 50? Whoop-di-do.

Hows that going to fill the holes of Grant, Darcy, Robbins, Montgomery, Walsh, Baird, McCormack, Faulkner?

Walsh, Baird, McCormack and Faulkner leaving are hardly huge holes to fill.

I would think we would only swap our picks for Callan.

Do you see us swapping 2nd round picks with Geelong, so they get pick 20 & we get pick 32, which we trade to Adelaide for Ben Hudson?

In essence our 2nd round pick in return for Callan & Hudson?

Yeah. I think Adelaide will demand a 2nd rd pick for Hudson. I think our pick 20 is to good for this so similiar to the Akermanis deal last year we will try and pick up a later 2nd rd pick.

This may or may not happen with Callan as he probably doesn't have that higher value anyway. Geelong would be licking there lips if they could upgrade there 2nd rd pick by 12 spots for a player likely to be delisted.

My last go at predicting the outcome of tradeweek + what i think we should attempt.
Presuming Farren and Jordie want to go home which isnt official i would:

Give jordie to the crows for Ben Hudson and their 2nd Rounder.

+

Give Freo Farren Ray and our 2 second rounders (crows deal) for Ryan Murphy and their 1st Rounder.
That way by the end of tradeweek we will end up with (in terms of gains and losses).
Gains: Picks 5,7, Ben Hudson, Ryan Murphy.
Losses: Farren Ray, Jordan McMahon and 2nd Rounder.

Freo.
Gain: 2nd Rounders and Farren Ray
Lose: Ryan Murphy and 1st Rounder

Crows.
Gain: Jordan McMahon
Lose: Ben Hudson and 2nd Rounder

Win for all teams i say, presuming that Farren and Jordie want to go home ofcourse, otherwise dont worry about that deal :thumbsu:

the hudson deal id say would be something like
hudson + 2nd and 3rd round picks
for
our 2nd and 3rd round picks (we may have to take out their 2nd rounder)

then
McMahon and our new 2nd or 3rd rounder for pick 10

Ray for pick 7 maybe another pick going to freo

if we can come out of it with pick 5, 7 and 10 then we'll be very happy.

and if we are going for roughead then offer picks 7 and 10 for him

all in all we lose McMahon Ray and our 2nd and 3rd round DP

gain Hudson Roughead and keep pick 5

pipe dream though:D

We should get Haselby.

He's great at clearances, surperb in fact. You put Hudson and Haselby, West, Cooney in the center and will win more inside 50's then the other team. What goes on from there..i don't know. But i hope we are one of the 3 Vic teams that are being reported as interested. (Plus he's out of contract and won't cost much, might even be a PSD option!)

You've just opened up with favourite can of worms.. Our one-diemensional midfield.

Lets add in another slow, offensive midfielder into the mix who is better by hand than with foot.

Agree he is a good clearance player, but if we get him we cant play him in the same team as West, Cross and Boyd.

Yea, so i've been told. But i don't believe that. We need clearance players, Cross, Boyd don't pull there weight here. Cross already runs in from the wing because the coaching staff know he won't win clearances at center bounces.

(I'll just add, i know i'm alone in wanting Haselby, but i rate him a lot)

His groin is shot to smithereens. Have a real bad dose of the OP so i would be touching him.

I doubt he will be leaving but if we can get him in the PSD then he might be an option.

He's over the OP. He got 30+touches on 5 occasions this year and and over 20 touches on another 9 occasions. If anything he's had back problems. Anyway, i'd be interested.

Our midfielders racking up high possession games is something we don't have to worry about. They don't always help you win games of footy, but are good for the Dream Team points. Our 4 core midfielders this year in West, Cross, Cooney and Boyd averaged 97 possessions a game between them this. Did this help us win games? Only occassionally.

Agree that Haselby is a good clearance player, but do we need another high possession winner? Don't want to sound like a broken record, but if he comes to our club it has to be at the expense of a player I mentioned in a recent post.

Yea, thats where we are going to have to agree to disagree.

But I dont like to agree to disagree.;)

Say we get Haselby without having to trade off Cross or Boyd and West is still running around. How do we structure the team so that all 4 can play in the side together?

Haselby has a lot to offer. Is he the right fit for our club? God knows we need help winning some damn clearances. We have speed to burn with Gilbee, Griffen, McMahon, etc all able to play in the midfield. Lack of clearance-winning ability is a bigger concern than speed for us IMO.

That said, he wouldn't come cheap.

What do people think of the following trade:

Collingwood's first rounder + Rusling for Pick 5, or
pick 30 + Rusling for Pick 5

No thanks.

Rusling as I have seen posted before is a 'one trick pony'. He is quick on the lead, but offers little else.

And as TCD has replied pick #5 is pretty much off limits and especially for a player of Rusling's ability, if it was Travis Cloke I might be interested.

I won't quote the post, as it's lengthy, but on the previous page, I noted Roughead's name being mentioned. He won't be traded by Hawthorn.

I see Sam Power has requested a trade. What do you expect to get for him (bearing in mind he is apparently out of contract)? No real interest, except that he (and Luke) went to the same school as I.

Would be happy with a bag of mixed lollies (Do they still sell them??)

Seriously probably worth a 3rd pick or a player of equal value.ie. Player ranked top 20-25 at there club.

Thanks for letting us know.

Do any of us really have a grasp on what our clubs may or may not do next week?

Dogs keen on SA big men

Sportal

The Western Bulldogs are confident they will secure Adelaide ruckman Ben Hudson in the upcoming AFL trade period and plan to speak to Port as well in a bid to secure key forward Damon White.

With Luke Darcy and Chris Grant having announced their retirements the Dogs are desperate to secure ready-made key position players and Hudson and White fit the bill.

Eade said he was confident Hudson, who played for the Bulldogs' former VFL affiliate team Werribee before being drafted by the Crows at pick 58 in 2003, would join the club during next week's trade period.

"Ben has committed to us, now we just have to work out a deal with Adelaide," Eade told Sportal on Thursday from the AFL's draft camp.

Hudson, 28, made a strong return from a serious knee injury - which kept him out for all of 2006 - this season in playing 22 games for the Crows to bring his career tally to 55.

This year he averaged 13 disposals and 16 hit-outs per game and his arrival would certainly put pressure on the Bulldogs' two current ruckmen Will Minson and Peter Street to improve their performances after disappointing seasons this year.

Eade also confirmed the Dogs were interested in White, who is seeking a move away from Port Adelaide due to limited senior opportunities.

The 24-year-old has struggled to get a regular game in the powerful Alberton outfit and has played 49 games for 44 goals over the past four seasons.

Despite always showing plenty of potential, he was overlooked for both Port's 2004 and 2007 grand final teams and this year only managed 13 games for 10 goals and did not feature at all during the finals series.

However, given he originally hails from Perth, White could prefer a move to either of the Western Australian clubs. Eade said the Bulldogs would definitely ask Port about White during next week's trade period.

Spot on. He's a very good player but we have some very similar players. I wouldn't think he is someone who's going to turn things around for us.
