The Western Bulldogs were moving closer to the idea of giving up their second-round pick, selection 22, for another Adelaide ruckman, Ben Hudson, but if they do they hope to return to the second round by trading a player out — in all likelihood running defender Jordan McMahon.

And worse news here, with losing McMahon for nothing becoming a possibility:

http://realfooty.com.au/news/news/kangaroos-chase-midfielder-selwood/2007/10/08/1191695823242.html

Out-of-contract Bulldog Jordan McMahon could be reunited with former coach Terry Wallace, with Richmond expressing keen interest in him, while Port Adelaide also is believed to be eager to encourage the former South Australian home.

The Dogs are likely to seek a second-round draft pick for McMahon, while the Tigers would leverage their first pick in the pre-season draft in any negotiation.

I can't understand him going/being sent to another Melbourne based club. If he's ok with staying in Melbourne, there shouldn't be many issues in contracting him.

we are chasing white, but what about boyle? it looks as if they might cost the same (2nd rounder)

macmahon for a second rounder? if richmond is threatening PSD then macmaon just wants out and doesnt care where, which is intersesting. maybe he just wants to go to a team where shit kicking is acceptable.

best result is macmahon to port in direct swap for white, under the above circumstances.

read somewhere that adealide wanted pick 29 or higher for hudson. if thats the case, why not use power to upgrade our 3rd rounder to second rounder territory and use that for hudson?

end result hudson and white for power and macmahon.

Actually thats true. Richmond thought they robbed us when they scored Patrick Bowden.:D

And who did you get with pick 57(??).

I dont think your pick 57 from that year has done much either so lets call it a draw. :D ;)

McMahon has all the promise in the world btw and its only a matter of application now he is 24(?).

All those articles talk about picks for Power and McMahon, how many bloody picks to we want this year! :eek:

Power for a late pick? Whats the point of that we have a ton of those already. What players are on the outer at Sydeny or North Melbourne? I'd rather swap for one of those than have 5 picks late in the 3rd and 4th round.

Perhaps to on-sell the picks in a package to obtain players we require.

Getting rid of Bowden was always a win for us.

McMahon is a required player, if you don't like don't worry about him.
If we lose him the compensation while not being his orginal no.10 pick will at least a 2nd round.

If this is the way we're trading out players taken on a 'best available' basis, it doesn't make sense to me.

Surely you do best available in order to fill needs through trades, thus you develop players you pick at best available, and if they're surplus to your needs you trade for players you need or higher picks. Taking a first rounder, putting 5 years into him and then trading for a 2nd rounder makes no sense at all to me.

You are basing your judgements of Jordie on his 2007 form. Look at his form in 2006. Look at footage of him playing in 2006. Then you would be salivating over the prospect of mcmahon

from the australian:

"vRichmond, the Power and the Western Bulldogs could be involved in a three-club trade that results in Jordan McMahon going from the Dogs to the Tigers, Damon White leaving Port Adelaide for the Bulldogs and Schulz crossing to Port. "

Any news on Hahn? Apprently McMahon is all but gone which is really disappointing but Hahn is still out of contract as well. I'm getting worried we may lose both. :(

If Mattner is worth pick 28 then McMahon must be worth between pick 17-27.

Age:
Mattner = 25 and 2 months
McMahon = 24 and 4 months

Career Games:
Mattner = 98
McMahon = 114

Career Ave disposal:
Mattner = 15.3
McMahon = 19.2

Career Marks Ave:
Mattner = 4.4
McMahon = 5.5

And you can't say Mattner's stats are off because he has played backline because so does McMahon, and he rarely had a crack on the wing or center.

Mcmahon is worth at least pick 20.

It's frustrating that we can't find out the real story on whether he wants to go. I get the feeling it's just a standard line from clubs who want to move players on without upsetting supporters, The guy's on holidays with his teammates having a good time, surely it'd be hard for him to leave them, if the club was 100% committed to jordie he'd be staying.

In the West Australian it says we have secured Ben Hudson for an unspecified 2nd round pick. Is it possible that we have offloaded Sam Power to the 'Roos for their 2nd pick which is 32 i think and we then gave that to the crows for Ben?

So we have landed our ruckman, and tough inside mid/tagger.

A KPP forward to go, and we are done with our trading. McMahon and Power to perhaps be offloaded to acheive this.
