Re: Delist/Trade the following:

given that the Dogs need a KPP would you guys be interested in Sean Rusling (20yr old tall forward)?

possible trade Rusling for Ray? or Rusling + 2nd round pick for Cross?

Ray>>>>>>>>>>>>>Rusling

Cross>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2nd round draft pick and Rusling.

Give you our 3rd draft pick for Rusling though. But i think we are better off using that pick for a 17/18 year old tall forward.

IMO Walsh is worth more to us then say Playfair or Leigh Brown or Charlie Gardiner would be. We have no idea if Walsh will make it in the AFL, we suspect he won't but we aren't 100%, but we do know for a fact the other guys won't be anything special. And every time Walsh plays he kicks goals.....He's kicked what 11 goals in 3 games this year? Not including the game he did his hammy. Who cares what league it is, proves he has natural talent. Play your first game in 18 months bag 5 goals then 2 goals a week later, do your hammy miss 3-4 weeks come back and kick 4...
Amen brother, amen.

With the new news that Carlton are having a crack at Lade, should we? Our ruck's are terrible and are needing a good ruckman.
Anyone?

He has had a poor season by his standards, perhaps showing signs of ageing (30/31 yo). He has also had a lot of injuries during his career which add to the risk.

Obviously offers us a lot of positives. While he hasn't had his greatest season, he has still performed a lot better than any of our ruckmen. At his best he is one of the best ruckmen in the league. Still think he has at least a year or two at a quality level left in him.

Whether we should go for him depends on his price tag. Seems like he is interested in leaving due to the short term contract he has been offered by Port. We would have to give him a 3 year contract you'd think. I think he would offer us more than Aker same time last year. We desperately need a mature ruckman. Drafting ruckmen when you need one short term is like planting a tree tomorrow to provide some shade this weekend.

I'd be more interested in Charman but we definitely should have a look at both.

Yeah i would prefer Charman. But pickers arent choosers.

How about Cam Wood from the Lions? He could be worth a shot and wouldnt have a very high price tag. Maybe a 2nd rounder.

He'd be valuable, but he too is getting on a bit. Not sure that going for an aging ruck is the answers to our problems going forward. If the price was right though, I'm sure we'd look at him - he would still add a lot.

(Sorry, post regarding Lade - I took a minute to respond and didn't refresh)

Why do people keep thinking Wood won't cost much?

I thought The Lions rated him highly.

Just because they have an abudance of ruckmen doesn't mean they'll be willing to let go of a very young but quality ruckmen for nothing.

Sorry i didnt realise i said he wont cost much. In fact this is what i said, He could be worth a shot and wouldnt have a very high price tag.

The Lions may rate him highly but with Charman and Leuenburger ahead of him he would be deprived of opportunity. Like with whats happening with Moran and the Kangas. He may want out.

Re: spring cleaning @ footscray!!

the doggies are desparate for a spring cleaning job. who needs to be dusted off the shelf completely and who needs to be put out in recycling?

i suggest that the following will start proceedings:

DELiSTINGS- Faulkner, Baird, McKormack, Welsh.

TRADE BAIT- McMahon needs to go home, same with Ray, Power.

goodbye Darcy, but the other three( Skipper, Minson and Street) all deserve to stay and although none are stars and probably never will be, the dogs have higher priorities eg; CHB,FF.

sam power is a victorian so hows he going home?

u kidding 4 cross u outta ya mind i dont think so ya can have faulkner 4 rusling his not that good

No way Wood for 2nd round pick. Richmond/St Kilda/Collingwood/Port
Blues and Dogs (if we have any brains) will all be very keen to get
Wood. Most of you disagree but I still say offer Hahn and 3rd round
for him. After KPP foreward he should be our top priority.

Possibly the least balanced trade ever suggested lol Cross will be an absolute champion.

Is David Hille an option at all?

Trading Gia

Sunday night after the crows game I flicked between SEN and the ABC, and both stations brought up the subject of Gia, his performance, role in the team, how it's changed over the last few years and what value he is to the bulldogs. He also got tossed up as a possible trade.

Now I'm a big fan of Gia but it's probably worth putting his name up as consideration for trade? He'll attract fantastic attention from a club who needs him, more so than any other player on our list.

If a club with a key forward on offer is a fan of Gia, it could well be worth it. Gia and a 2nd round to Carlton for Fev and a 3rd round? Pfffft there could be anything...but is Gia worth considering to trade?

Re: Trading Gia

Its a tough one isn't it. Let's not beat around the bush, Gia doesn't have a lot of room for improvement, what you see now is what you get for the next 4-5 years. But something i can't gage is his importance to the team. He is often spoken as a leader and this might be more important then we give it credit for. Is he a Bulldog through and through? Might sound sentimental but if he cares so much for the club and wants it to succeed over everything else then he's one you would want to keep. I must admit I'm sitting on the fence on this one. Most likely because i don't want to see him running around in a different jumper. I'm just thankful i don't have to make the decisions at the end of the year

Gia + 2nd round pick for Fev + our 3rd ??

You're either seriously overrating the value of Guido, or seriously underrating the value of Fevola.

That deal would never happen.

Re: Trading Gia

I've said it before, and i'll say it again. If Fevola is seen as a negative force to the Carlton team by the new coaching staff then they aren't going to demand a first round pick and a proven young player under 21 who was also a first round pick(Everitt, Higgins, Cooney, Griffen, Ray, Williams).

There is no in between on this issue. Either Fevola is wanted or he's not, they aren't going to say........

'Ohh yea Fev is stunting our progress forward, lets ask for the Bulldogs best 2 young players, if they don't accept, it doesn't matter Fevola can stay and continue to ****** our future'.

If they want to off load him the going price will be a first round pick(Early) and around a 3rd pick. Nobody trades young talented promising players....no one(unless they want out). Plus Carlton would probably prefer the draft picks anyway.

In saying that, IF Carlton want to keep Fev then he's not even going to be on the table for a trade is he?

Gia wont be going anywhere.

And all this talk of fev, murphy, rusling? what will they offer our club.

Fev is an idiot who will disrupt the club more than aker (and i didnt want him either)

Murphy and rusling would be a poor mans Brad Johnson. They will not help our cause.

I agree with "The Doctor" that a ruckman like wood (who has years infront of him) should be our priority, but somehow i wouldnt wanna give up our first pick for him.

Your kidding yourself right?

Cant believe you even considered throwing Cross' name up. We might be desperate for a key forward, but Rusling hasnt excatly proven himself as one.

Rusling is worth no more than a draft pick. 2nd round draft pick at best.

Cross' value to the club was highlighted as soon as he was injured this year! Vital to the side...I wouldn't suggest trading him. McMahon however is very posible and reading through this I like him fitting in with the swans, even bombers or carlton also...even freo who have a one paced midfield and will lose mcmanus & bell soon.

Yeah I followed that Fev suggestion with a "pfffft" as it was a bit of a throw away, but it is true that they either want him or they don't, so can't ask the world
