Dowler was an early 1st round pick and he is progressing nicely. Kicked
a bag for Box Hill recently and has played seniors. Won't get him for a
2nd round pick. I don't think there is a kpp foreward in this years draft
that is a better prospect than Dowler, so expect Hawks to demand a
high price for him.

Interestingly enough, one of my close friends goes to the same school as Henderson.

He's not into football too much, but told me he's huge and a very good player.

Something that I've thought of over the last few days. Either

(1) McMahon and/or a 2nd Rd Pick to PORT for Damon White OR

(2) McMahon and/or a 3rd Rd Pick to ADELAIDE for Ken McGregor

Would either be a viable option? I'm considering I've always liked the look of White but he just can't get a game.

WTF?

McMahon's worth plenty more than either of those guys.

McMahon > Port for pick 13ish
Pick 13 > Richmond for Shultz & pick 19

Do you really want Shultz? Why?

Not attacking your position, just curious as to why you think he's someone we should bring to the club.

22yo, physically developed, talented, cheap.

If he could put together more than 10 minutes at a time he would be a player. I'd be hoping he matures a bit as he gets older and benefits from not worrying about getting in Richo's way.

If he doesn't work out, no harm done.

It's only my back-up position, my first choice is getting Jon Brown for Faulkner.

Now it all makes sense.

You must be keen on Shultz.

It was only a few years ago that Mooney was a hack going nowhere with basically no future at Geelong. Players can turn it around.

I wouldn't describe him as a hack he has always had the ability - just lost his way a little for a time. He is a premiership player for the Kangaroos, a lot of people forget that.

I'd say stmookeyj is closer to the money. Sure he's got pace but he's a 2nd XI player, not one of the first immediately picked. Boyd, Cross, Gilbee, along with Higgins, Murphy, Hahn, needless to say Johnno and West etc. ...... McMahon although very very useful is not a key member of the team.

Definitely tradable for the right key tall

It's all about needs really. Frankly we don't need soft back flankers who can run but have little to their defensive side, and we all know about the gaping hole in the forward line. I think at this stage he's the type of player that could secure player from SA clubs, not just the fact that he's a Glenelg player.

And I think White and McGregor are more realistic recruiting targets should we feel the need for a ready made forward. I'm not saying that drafting a kid is a bad thing for us-far from it. But drafting a kid and building up his strength will take time which is something that we don't really have at this stage.
We need good players, we don't need experimental/unproven talls, we have plenty of them.
What have those other 2 proven, compared to McMahon?

We also need a player of McMahon's ability playing at the best. Easily in our best 22 when that is the case and valuable member of the side. If he wants to go he is definetely worth more than a tall of lesser abilty as well as losing a high draft pick. Non of those mentioned are instant fixes to a forward line.

Are to trying to trump the Rodhe/Newport trades of 4 years back?

Maybe we should trade McMahon for the regular tall candidates like Ray Hall, Ben Kinnear and Henneman?
Well they are tall and not soft like McMahon! We will chuck in a couple picks as a sweetner.

Another ruckman for next year???

I thought of this after seeing that Steven King (Geelong) got dropped this week. Would it be worth picking him up for a few seasons?

It might be a while before we see a ruckman develop from this years draft. Sure, there are other options in terms of trades but I just wanted to know what people thought of King. Maybe he's past it.

If he is out of contract and we get him for nothing that would be fine.

Re: Another ruckman for next year???

King is too injury prone and I also beleive over rated. But I heard that Lade is being looked at by some other clubs - he is a quality ruck but also 31 (I think). Offered only a one year deal by Port and the blues have apparently offered him 3.

Re: Another ruckman for next year???

jamie charman will be moving to melb next year as his fiance has moved to melb for work would be a good get

Someone mentioned Brad Smith (former WCE) player as a possible forward solution for the Bulldogs. He's kicked 100 goals this year playing with Subiaco. The Eagles have spoken to his manager, as have a few AFL clubs, according to his brother.
Could be the answer!!

What about Fergus Watts, can't get a game at St Kilda with their talls and he is 197cm and is only 22yo, this month. Jamie Graham of West Coast he is 195cm & 98cm, they have plenty of talls. Jay Schultz is only 193cm and I won't offer any more that a 3rd round draft choice. Hawthorn have plenty of young talls, they will take developing and have Bailey who is coming back next year after a knee op, some one like Taylor of Boyle.

Kepler Bradley seems to be out of favour at Windy Hill, has been kicking goals as a forward for the Bendigo Bombers and with Lucas, Lloyd and Gumbleton there doesnt seem to be room in the Bombers forward line for him....any chance?? Thoughts??

Josh Mahoney

lets go and secure his services for next season. What a great example of never giving up. One has to respect what he has achieved. unlike a couple of others.....
