Re: Drafts Thread

Libba's son has played in a few of those father son matches against other AFL Veterans so I'd expect him to have some good experience. What is he, 14? Get him in the team! He can't be much lighter than Lynch.

Re: Drafts Thread

Nicholas Di Martino he is a chf/ruck type of player but mainly plays at chf he has been at the jets for two years now he looks like a good quality forward that we need.
He going to be a first rounder? If he's a CHF and not going in the first 7 or so picks you'd have to question his true ability - at least at this point.

Hopefully we make the finals and don't have a pick that high... but dang I'd love us to punt on a kid around the end of the first round.

Re: Drafts Thread

Anyone remember Neil Bristow back in the late 70's 80's?? Won a best rookie award at the club, his Son James is playing for gippsland in the Tac cup. I'm sure the club would be interested in him, can play forward, back or in the ruck... Hgt 196 Wgt 95...

Unlike his father though, he can run and jump!!!!

Yes i've been following power a bit this year, and i reckon this kid can play. Very versitile and can suit to alot of situations (unlike many bigmen). However he needs a strong pre-season under his belt to lift his endurance and he would be quite the player. They reckon he will will go 3rd or 4th round, but if snatched up early, i believe it wouldn't be that much of a risk for the dogs!

At 191cm, he would be struggling to play in the ruck at an AFL. He did his shoulder in April and hasn't played a game since. He is the nephew of Danny Delre and was in some good form earlier this year. Most likely would of made VM

I believe we should be looking:
Morton if available
Rance
Collier
Pears
McEvoy if available

I'm pretty sure we had a Nick or a Rino Dimartino on the list in the early 80s, his brother Vince was at Williamstown in the later 80s. Spotswood boys.
I think they were related to the Delre's as well.

Re: Drafts Thread

Question for those in the know...could I get measurements for a young ruck from the Murray Bushrangers called Ben McEvoy please? I reckon he'd be in our sights if we want a ruck.

Saw him play at Willy against the Jets earlier this year. 199cm, not sure on exact weight but it is in the low 90's

Played in the Ruck, and really just floated around the ground like an extra on-baller. Can mark, kick, and most importantly find the footy. I would say he is very similar in the way Kruezer goes about his footy, just not 'as freakishly' good as Kruezer. However i still believe there is plenty of improvement left in him

Cooney, i take it your from Altona FC

Time to part ways

Gia or Ray??
I don't think we can continue to have so many light midfielders, we get smashed at clearances and are constantly pushed off the ball. Ray has more currency being younger, but i think we need to move on Gia, far too soft
any thoughts?

McMahon..but any of the above if the deal was right.

There is no-one else we should trade IMO.

There are a couple to delist/retire....

Re: Time to part ways

Trade Ray and Mcmahon for Fevola or something like that, I was a Ray fan a few weeks back but he has letr me down with his efforts over and over today was no exception. Too many indecisive and skill errors cost us.

Re: Time to part ways

Keep Ray. He's young and hasn't peaked, plus he runs hard, even watching it on TV he seems to cover a lot of distance. Plus his decision making has improved through out the year. I said once that 2 out 10 times Ray would lose a one on one situation that involved using your footy brain, now i think its more like 6 out 10. Has improved, take my word for it.

Might have improved but still does the same errors that cost us the game, during the third and second quarters everytime he got the ball he somehow find a way to ruin the chances. I admit he has improved and has done much better then last year, but we need to get rid of some average players to gain some decent players and Ray is one of those. I don't know who we can go for and IMO Fevola will do more harm then good for the Dogs if we got him, but apart from him who else is there.

Re: Time to part ways

i think the dogs should just try to get TWO first rd picks thru trading, recruit the best available KKP FWD and RUCK, and hope they come good when our mid range players like coon, griff, and then williams, everitt are coming good.

I agree I would rather build our own forward and ruckmen from youngsters, rather then getting 2nd rate or troubled players that will end up like all the rest....doing nothing.
