For reference, at last bids, Port didn't want to give up more than a third-round pick for Jordan Russell last year, even with him being uncontracted and shouting his intention to move back to SA.

Needless to say McMahon has shown a lot more then Russell, so it might be a poor example.

Either way, I think McMahon is a very specific sort of player. Fast is a word i'd use. You either need this sort of player or you don't. No point in taking him if you don't need his specialties.

Russell is five years younger IIRC.

McMahon only turned 24 two months ago, so 5 years is a little stretch. Still got his best footy ahead of him and is a proven AFL player. Nothing against Russell, its just like i said. You either need him or you don't. Somebody who has already played over 100 games at his age at his standard is going to be good pick up. I'm still hoping he stays.

Word on channel 9 news is that the Dogs have been talking to Russell Robertsons management. Its good to see that they appear to be working on things.

Maybe the club has a rule they always need a Robbo on the list. But seriously, there is no chance of him coming our way. He is at the bottom of our 'need' list.

and seems to have dodgy knees.

I'd take him. I think we need to realise that whoever we get is going to be a risk for some reason. We are never going to get someone who is an absolute superstar eg Pavlich or Brown. There must be some reason why their old club is willing to trade them. I reckon he would certainly be worth a punt. At least he can take a pack mark and mark on the lead.

Robertson is a very good player, but he's exactly what we don't need. How old is he? If Robertson was 24/25 - it might have more merit, as he'd 'compliment' Johnson in the way that Robbins did in 2006, but only a lot better.

Still, he's ageing, he has had his injury problems, and just isn't what we need. Inside midfielders (eg. Nathan Jones), tight medium defenders (eg. Firrito) and obviously power forwards are what we need.

I hope it's just a sense of 'getting a feel' for things, and not actually going after Robertson himself.

Re: Robertson.....?

Very Good player but it's not like we need a shortish player who plays above his height. We just retired a 30 yo 40 goal a season player.

Re: Robertson.....?

Meh, this is just a little more leverage to get an extra year or dollar out of a new contract.

He won't leave Melbourne.

Re: Robertson.....?

Robertson won't be coming to the whitten oval, there is an article in the paper which states he wants to sign on at melbourne sooner rather than later. Thats good for him. We don't need him.

Sad news. Would it be to much to ask for a source?

Cannot reveal the source. All I will say is check my previous posts and if you find that I have made up rumours then you know I am talking crap.
If you find the opposite, you will know that this is in fact true.

Adelaide = pick 8/9?
Port = pick 13/14?

Do you think Port would give us one their first round picks for McMahon. Its hard to judge McMahon's value. His value in our team is limited, but in another team its possible he's what they are after. But for the record....i can't see us getting a first rounder for him, specially if he has asked to be traded.
I would think a Meesen & Bock for an exchange of 2nd round picks would almost clinch the deal.
Do not forget Meesen has wanted t ocome home for a while, he is very mobile and has by some reports played some decent footy in the SANFL be it inconsistently at times.
Bock has shown an ability to take a contested mark and can play at both ends, something that would appeal to Eade.

No more giving away picks for duds. If they want McMahon straight swap or nothing. If McMahon doesn't like it then he goes into the lottery of the Draft.

What is a preferable McMahon -> Crows trade for you?

People here talk McMahon down here because in the second half of this year his kicking has been down. At the start of the season he was in our top five players to only finish in bottom 22. He is a fast running half back which a lot of teams would love to have. Granted he wants to go back does not diminish his value in my eye's. I think if he was in the draft he would be a first round draft pick. Personally I want the dogs to go down the Hawthorn road and swap players for picks and use those picks to build a side that will be strong for a ten year period not trying to bolster a weakness with hack s that other teams think will not make it. North have learnt that it does not work and have changed there strategy. Westcoast are great example of swapping hacks for picks and getting better players for it.
To answer that question I don't want anyone from the crows just picks.
