im dont agree with the giving up Deledio, Foley, Mclean ect but what i do agree with is pick 5 is now the most Valuable pick, pick 1 cant be traded, Richmond, Blues, Dees, Bombers, Hawks and the Pies are all keen on Judd

Their fisrt pick wont be enough so getting into a 3way trade could get us the likes of Fevola, Mitch Thorpe/Roughead, Gumbleton or Reid.

the Question isnt what pick 5 is worth but what getting Judd is to their club

Good thinking - once we ruled ourselves out, your logic comes into play. Our pick becomes the most valuable second first round pick to to WCE.

Judd will select where he wants to go, and then the two clubs have to sort it.

So WCE get our pick 5 plus the Vic club's first rounder plus probably a player. We get a good young tall already in the sytem.

I like it.

Raises the question of whether we want quality or quantity for pick 5.

I want quality.

I agree with you because thats what I thought initially, but having pick 7 we may be able to get the player we had in mind for pick 5 but unlikely
but we may get similar quality.

It also shows how we may trade away pick 5 to any club wishing to get into the Judd deal as many have mentioned but able to trade a player for a pick such as 7.

Is Gilbee completely untouchable. He could help us get more first round picks or players like wood or jolley.
I don't think we will get Judd or Fevola so why not take some risks such as:
Gilbee + pick 22 to Brisbane for Wood and pick 8
Eagleton for Neagle and 3/4th Rounder
Giansiracusa + pick 38 to Collingwood for Reid
If risks are not taken we may never move forward. It is time for action.

Judd becoming available might open up our chances of getting some good KP's, Roughhead or Boyle might come up if the Hawks want Judd.

Geez im glad some of you dont run the club, why not trade Cooney, Griffen, Ray and Higgins for a can of coke and 2 potato cakes.

if carlton want judd sooo badly and need anutha first rounder why not propose sumthing to them like:
dogs gain: fevola, kennedy
dogs lose: pick 5

you probably wuldnt want fevola for 5, but to throw in anutha player, its just a suggestion.. i just threw in kennedy as an idea, any other ideas?
take this lightly as it is just a suggestion lol :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Fev would be enough for me to trade pick 5. No need to throw Kennedy in (it wouldnt happen anyway), we have Skipper in the team.

Would love to see him at the dogs.

His old man played a few games for us, before he suffered a terrible injury losing his eye...(I think thats right)

i heard a rumour bout russell robertson might me coming 2 the kennel any truth on that or???????:confused:

The whole Judd situation is one of those things which will need to be settled early b/c it will determine where other players go and what draft picks get swapped. The Judd deal will be done early. WCE will simply not leave it till trade deadline day and run the risk of losing Judd for nothing. The next thing which needs to be decided is where Judd will go. He has stated he wants to go to a team with the capability of playing finals next year, Basically that is:

1. Geelong;
2. North;
3. Collingwood;
4. Essendon;
5 Western Bulldogs;
6. HAwthorn.

The Kangas and us have ruled ourselves out of the race. So its down to 4. I doubt Geelong will make a play for 2 reasons:

a) it would mean giving up a some quality players to get the necessary draft picks;
b) the catter's are a tight group so you would have to query whether Judd's addition could upset that tightness; and
c) their need for a midfielder just isn't there for them to justify the trading they would have to do to get him.

The Hawks are similar to the Cats, though their first draft pick is better. Yet, they have a great midfield group already and whilst they could trade one or two of their talls to gain the necessary picks you ahve to ask what Judd would add that wasn't/isn't already there this year. They will have a look and if they can secure 2 top ten picks without mortgaging their future they will do it, but they wont be compelled to.

The Pies need a quality midfielder. Thomas and Pendlebury have been stars this year, but are young and inconsistent as a result. Judd would add that steel and professionalism into the midfield. Also, the fact that the Pies "marquee player" in Buck's is nearing the end, a guy like Judd would be the perfect tonic. The Pies suffer from a similar situation to the Hawks in that their first round pick is not enough and it and another is unlikely to entice the WCE to the trade table, so they would need to trade some quality to get the picks they need. Essentially this would be Didak to Adelaide for their first round pick and another player to one of the Carlton, Tigers, Dees, Us or Essendon to secure a top 6 pick.

The Dons, have a top 6 pick and have players of tradeable value which could get them another top pick. Judd would be a perfect fit in their team which is light on for quality midfielders, but in Lucas and Lloyd have matchwinning forwards. Adding Judd would significntly increase the ability of the Don's play finals footy next year.

That's my take. If you were Eade and co you'd be having a look at the players on the Cat's, Hawks, Pies and Don's lists that u like and be making a play for them with pick 5. I'd play hardball since it is a valuable pick and I'd be expecting someone in the 20 to 23 range who has already shown the capacity to influence a game at the AFL level.
