Re: Ben Hudson to the WB

I could live with Hudson + pick for McMahon. Now that he's available!?

Take from this what you will, but Gerard Healy just said on 3AW that the Hawks are planning to put a ''big name young player'' on the table.

Dwayne Russell said that would be ''pretty ROUGH''.

Would anyone on this board be interested in Roughead?

Yes, you'd be stupid not to be interested. But they would expect Griffen, Cooney, Everitt or Higgins. So..no i'm not interested:D

Fair point, but surely something reasonable could be worked out.

Wouldn't give up pick 5, but I would be prepared to give up a very good player/s and a second round draft pick.

In the eyes of the footballing public, if you were to take you rose coloured glasses off would be Griffen for Roughead, or Cooney, Higgins or Everitt. Or Pick 5 + 2nd draft pick,. Theres really nothing reasonable about it unfortunately for us:o

People will hate me for this, but I would trade Higgins for Roughead.

Yes I know Higgins looks like he will be a star, but the truth of the matter is, we have many of his type, and loses out as we would rather keep Cooney and Griffen as they are quicker, more skilful and will be the better players IMO.

Roughead will be a star forward in the coming years, he has had a very good past few months of footy, but he has been out shone by Buddy and probably will be his whole career at Hawthorn, which is why he doesnt really rate a mention. Could be the forward we are looking for.

Having said all this, it has no chance of happening anyway.

Hey guys, just wanted your opinions on this proposed scenario.....

Bulldogs gain pick 10 + 26+ McGregor + Hudson
Bulldogs lose pick 5 + 21 + Farren Ray

Adelaide gain pick 5 + 21 + Farren Ray + Alan Didak and lose the above.

Collingwood gain pick 5 + Farren Ray who is on traded as part of the deal to get Didak.

We can then use pick 5 + 14 + a player for Judd.

Thoughts??

How is Farren Ray's status down there?? Maybe replace Ray with Mcmahon?

Sorry. Crap deal.

You will have to give up Didak, Pendlebury, Thomas or Shaw if you want Judd.

LOL you know that Pendlebury, Shaw and Thomas won't be traded. That's like suggesting Murphy or Gibbs, Gumbleton or Ryder or even Mclean and Jones will be traded. It's not going to happen.

They will have to be if you want Judd. This is the best player in the competition we are talking about.

Trying to get other teams to enter crappy deals with Collingwood so they dont have to give up their good young players simply wont happen.

Either Judd goes to Collingwood as they offer up a decent trade, he goes to another team or he goes to the PSD.

No wonder clubs are traditionally hesitant to trade with Collingwood.
We were pretty active in trading last year - expecting things to be fairly quiet this year. We'll gain an experienced ruckman (Eade already flagged it) and draft a young, project ruck as a succession plan.
Maybe pick up McGregor in the PSD, that'd be it.

How about our Pick 5 for T Cloke or B Reid

Firstly to Stevie G, i'd entertain the idea of pick 5 for Reid if it was there. I don't think the club would trade Cloke.

Moving on, how is that doing crappy deals? I have not seen one club come out and mention they would be trading away their young guns ie. murphy or gumbleton/ryder or mclean/jones. It will probably take a 3 way deal for us to get Judd because we will need to get our hands on another first round pick in the top 10 maybe even top5.

I have mentioned trading Didak would get us that pick in the top 10/top 5. I think a 3 way deal involving Adelaide/WB/Coll is definitely on the cards if Didak is headed back to SA. Why is it that Collingwood need to offer up all these young gun players yet the other clubs in the race can get away by offering a pick+ a player?

Like i said what is Farren Ray's status down at whitten oval? If a 3 way deal eventuated i can see pick 5 + 14 + Ray or Rusling offered for Judd if WB part with Ray of course. That will mean you guys will deal with Adelaide because they will want to get Didak so you would work on a deal to get Hudson who you are obviously chasing and by reports Mcgregor too and so on.

Farren improved a fair bit this year and still has a fair bit of scope for further improvement. I would think he would be in the long term plans of the Bulldogs coaching staff and would doubt very much that he would be put up for trade.

Look at it from our point of view. In order, the things you are trying to trade would be valued something like this:

Judd
Didak (*might* get Didak for pick 5 straight swap I guess).
Pick 5
Ray
Pick 10 (*Might* be prepared to swap for Ray straight up).
Pick 14
Pick 21
Hudson (*Might* be nearly worth pick 21 straight up).
...
...
McGregor

You are asking us to give up our first 2 draft picks and a fantastic young player (who destroyed your mob at the MCG in a final just 12-months back) for two over the hill talls from Adelaide and pick 10? It is not realistic.

What exactly are we getting out of this deal....you guys get Judd. Adelaide get pick 5 and Didak...West Coast get two extra first rounders plus a 'player' (whatever that means)....what exactly do WE get?

You need to put your thinking cap back on - or on for the first time. Every team needs to think that they are winning out of the deal. We dont win here. We dont even get anything anyone else wants...

Re: Done Deal

would we swap didak for Hudson or Mcgregor? we'd get pick 10 as well.
If we were looking at robbo we'd look at didak.

The best bit was that the team with the least motivation to do the trade (ie. us) was the one getting screwed.

If anything we would be the ones doing the screwing. If Collingwood are that desperate to get Judd, anti-up.

No skin off our noses.
