Spot on. He's a very good player but we have some very similar players. I wouldn't think he is someone who's going to turn things around for us.
He has signed with Freo for 2 years.

Thanks for letting us know.
Do any of us really have a grasp on what our clubs may or may not do next week?
No, but Roughead's family made it very clear to Hawthorn that they do not want to see him traded (Roughead was offered to West Coast as part of the deal to get Judd, but without his family's knowledge). Now that Hawthorn has no chance to get Judd, Roughead will be off the table.

I am not sure about the top 5, but I will comment on the others with a doggies player reference for anyone who hasn't seen them.
Henderson: I dont think he attacks the ball hard enough, and I think he decides when he will and when he wont go - plays on his terms. This worries me because I think intensity is hard to coach. Reminds me of: Tim Walsh (probably doesn't help non Werribee watchers though).
Rance: I haven't really seen enough of, but is certainly a good mover and ball user. Seems more a 'reader of the play' defender than contested ball winner or forward. Has at least one big fan who posts here who will (I'm sure) happily post more about him. Game style? Maybe Craig Ellis at his best?
Gaertner: I really like this kid because he is an athletic freak who really (in the times I have seen him) has a go. He runs really hard, goes for his marks and is a real handful - I have also seen him play well as a defender/midfielder and as a forward...he does have kicking 'issues' though, and whilst he seems to do the job welll enough, can miss targets and with his ball drop, it is going to take a lot of work to fix. In terms of game style, I think of Andrejs Everitt.
All that said, I suspect they will be picked as you nominated them - first Hendersen, then Rance, then later on with Gaertner.
As for having my finger on the pulse, I doubt it. Everitt aside, I hadn't heard of a single one of Clayton's other picks last year and I suspect it will be the same again...

Hopefully Ben McEvoy. I'd much prefer to keep the pick than trade it.
that's ok.
So we take Palmer and not worry about tall forwards?
Take Kennedy and pick 20.
The idea is to build the best team, not have the best group of players.
And if Melbourne take him at 4?
I'm sure there are better qualified people than me however I'm not convinced McEvoy is a no. 5 pick.
If I had to choose between Kennedy & 20 for 5 vs McEvoy. I'd go for JK, The President!!!
I would swap pick 5 for Kennedy. If we got pick 20 as well, that is just a bonus.
I do not like Henderson for reasons I have previously stated.

Says that we haven't offered McMahon a new contract and that he is likely to be moved on.
I thought that Eade said he Jordie wanted to stay and we'd be keeping him?

Someone said player x is being traded, someone said player x is staying. I'll be glad when trade week is over, then at least we'll know for sure. In the meantime lots of speculation. I suppose it's fun for journo's & school kids with computers!![]()
