What evidence do you have he wouldn't have been taken at the next pick, Leversloane?
No evidence except for the fact that no one knew who he was until we called his name out. Not suggesting he isn't a good choice but very unusual that none of the many people who follow the draft kids all year didn't have him anywhere near the top end - general later than 70. Highly unlikely he wouldn't have been there at 25 if we had of trade 13 for a second round pick this year and next

Being the resident expert on poor draft choices, I must say my red flag sensor went up while reading up on Doedee.

I have long been opposed to drafting a "project" in the first round. First round picks should never be "projects" if you wish to minimize the potential that they bust. It is a high risk/high reward proposition that teams should ordinarily avoid.

I liken the AFL draft to a cross between the NFL and major league baseball. So I try to keep in mind that AFL draftees take time to develop/mature just by they very nature of the game.

However, I know a reach when I see it. (Resident expert on piss poor drafting and all)

This selection was a real reach in my opinion.

His highlights packages dispute that assertion, and if he has a whole catalogue of better kicks not in the videos, the people who compiled the videos need to do some research on what highlights means.

Looks to be a pretty standard kick on a good day, soft and loopy at 40m+, and not particularly accurate at the shorter stuff.

84% disposal efficiency suggests otherwise

Before the draft everyone was saying it's a shallow draft because the first 10 -15 players stand out, after that you could throw a blanket over the next 30 kids, at pick 17 he was under that blanket.

It's already been pointed out many, many times over that the Dispocal Efficiency stat is a flawed measurement. Several ordinary kicks I recall from the highlights would register as effective disposals simply by arriving long distance to a contest, when an actual good kick would have been a simple chest mark to a forward on a regulation lead.

The carnival they mention in particular in that image are the highlights I'm talking about. He's just not a great kick, facts are on the screen for anyone to see.

Hahahaha...well that was hilarious to wake up to (I'm on the other side of the world).

Had never heard the guys name before, brilliant. Highlights look good, big rap from Turner, plenty of upside. Bit odd considering how many freaking medium defenders we have but hey, they're the experts.

Hope not picking Burton doesn't come back to bite us.

Will be interesting to see if clubs who made bids for Academy players have a crack at them in a few years time at the trade table. Let's keep an eye on Himmelberg at the Giants over the next 12 months.
Hard i would imagine, because all Academy players are staying in their home states .....so no "Go Home" factor

Hard to see who we thought we missed at 13 - everyone went as expected. We should have traded 13 for a second rounder this year and next year from an Essendon or Saints etc. then we would be back in next years second round plus still got this lad. Trust Oglivy that he will be good but we wasted a heap of value in that pick - no question

There was some expectation essendon might take a tall and Francis might slide

Another cluster **** of an off season.

Come on Kingy. We picked up Menzel and Milera. If one of Gore, Seedsman, Hampton or this dude fellow make it we're ahead.

Menzel and Milera alone bring a shit ton of class and always wanted to be here, which is a huge talent multiplier in clutch moments (see the Texan) compared to your bog standard mercenary types

Man our squad is gonna be different next year. There will be 10 ins.

In:

-Gore
-Milera
-Doedee
-Keath
-Greenwood
-Rookie 1
-Rookie 2

Out:
Danger, Kerridge, Picks 11 & 17 + (27) + (32) + (55)

Maybe so. I don't know enough about the prospects but reading on this particular kid it smelled of a Browns pick. That isn't ordinarily a good thing.

Basketballers appeal greatly to the Crows, its seems. Jenkins, Henderson, Greenwood and now the Dude.

Now I find this out. Would have been helpful to me personally back in the early 90's. Dangit. ;)

Personally, I think the dude is going to be a superstar.

You'll be impressed
