If we were to bid early on R.Mcinnes

Would the pies consider bidding on Brand at 16 (Which is likely around 20-22) when the time arrives?

Especially if all the other key talls are gone ie Cox, Reid, Chapman
I would imagine not. i want Brand but at 16 i imagine the Dodoro lets tgem have him. And no one has Brand anyone near that high.
Dummy bids are not a smart way to do a draft, at least McInnes at 7 is somewhat close to value

No what im saying is at 20+

JUH, Campbell, Jones, Coleman and potentially Goulden and Downie aswell could push it out

We let them have him at a bid at 21?

No one had Stone that high a week ago either, same for Pedlar and a few others, Mciness at the 8-10 range wasnt seen, Bruhn out to 18-20. Things are moving fast at that range.

Collingwood were desperate for a genuine tall hes rated the next best just about especially as a defender and some have him in the 30s admittingly those that do have probably seen him play once

Thats probably more accurate of value, but still probably too high. If that is the casd though and all those bids are matched then 44 will come to 40 and 77 becomes 60 odd so imagine we match.

eDPS ive seen zero mention of Mick Mallard? 200cm, 100kg and moves like P.Ryder and has shown that he can be very prolific finding the pill and has a really nice left foot

Surely a WA side is grabbing him and getting someone really under the radar. Maybe he simply has no desire to move outside the state and they could get themselves a steal

Or we pick him.
We don't the the ability to re-hab a kid with bad anything right now.

Leave him to the Hawks, who have done great with Jager and get 3 more seasons than anyone else could.

I'm not a fan of bringing in a kid who is busted and getting 4 years out of them, when we're in the pick range where we should be looking 150+ games from 6, 7 & 8.

Take him, with addition of Wright we can develop Thilthorpe for a year, no rush.
Jimmy Stewart no guarantee either even though Thilthorpe is more similar to Wright.

It also gives us more ruck backup.

Wright, Stewart, Phillips and Draper are hardly proven gold and with guaranteed life expectancy left in AFL

Had Thilthorpe been able to get a full PS of normal time for a kid entering AFL he would well and truly have a good chance of knocking guys like Wright and Stewart out of the side

So I'm assuming all our draft picks are going to be destined to play 400+. The last time we picked someone as lightly played in juniors it was Fletch and that seemed to work out OK.

Then why waste everyones time. If you arent willing to accept a trade that is within the realms of realistic dont burn bridges with Adelaide by getting their hopes up.
Last year GWS gave up 2019 pick 6 and their 1st 2020 pick to move up 2 places to pick 4. If crows want pick 6 for pick 9 they also should have to give up their 2021 1st or one of their 2020 2nd picks and their 2021 2nd pick.

If it came to choosing just one of either Cox or Reid with the intention of snagging Brand late, who would suit out current list more and compliment the inclusion of Brand down back? Brand seems more lock down and both Cox and Reid seem more attacking with Cox being more of a hybrid. I can’t split them...

Completely different circumstances. The deal GWS did isnt in a vacuum and needs to be understood in context and not as the standard going rate. i find it extraordinary that people cant understand that.

GWS did that deal because it allowed them to get ahead of the Green bid. They essentially gave up their first to move up and get Ash then get Green. It was two first rounders and a bunch of late picks for Green and Ash.

Adelaide will likely get pick 1 or two next year, and have no academy bid this year they want to get ahead of.
Essentially Adelaide are giving up
pick 1 in 2021 and pick 9 this year
for
pick 6

That is professional negligence, not a good deal. Adelaide would hang the phone up and rightly so.

As per Nostradamus draft comp. predictiions;

Pick 6: Thilthorpe available but Adelaide phone and we trade for their Pick 9 and their future 2nd
Pick 7: McInnes available but Collingwood phone and we trade for their Pick 16 & their future 1st
Pick 8: Perkins
Pick 9: Cox
Pick 16: one of Henry / Macrae / O'Driscoll
(in that order but depending on whose still available)
Pick 34: Eyre match
Pick 43: Brand match

DFA with last pick

= 2020 draft haul of 5 very good young players, DFA and bonus future 1st & 2nd (giving us 5 first round draft picks in total for 2020/21)
Only downside is we miss out on Reid. However, Brand, Cox (over time at CHB?) and Hind (speed) add defensive depth plus we gain a future 1st.
2MP, Perkins (near term) and possibly Henry add depth and class to the forward half, and don't forget young Jones as he develops into a bonafide FF option.
The midfield looks better on paper with the addition of Caldwell, Perkins (over time) and potentially Macrae or O'Driscoll (or even Bruhn if still available by pick 16), plus the likelihood of J.Dunkley to step in & lead them all from 2022 i.e. once the Bulldogs realise that they desperately need to free up some salary cap space post 2021 (that realisation to come as soon as their Treloar negotiations with Collingwood conclude.:cool:)

Or we pick him.

Personally I’d be looking to get the most value out of our picks as possible. Teams seem to pay ridiculous overs in the moment on draft night and with 3 picks are in a great position to leverage that for multiple drafts.

You would be suprised at the amount of clubs who take players in the 20s and 30s that are genuinely in that clubs top 10.
Nah. There is a universally agreed best available hierarchy, that goes from 1-10,000 every year. It is determined by a bot that tallies the number of name mentions for each player on BigFooty, multiplied by the number of memes and divided by the number of ahit nicknames. This then gets distributed to the clubs.
Melbourne didn't even know who Oliver was until Jade (was it him) kept frothing over him.

But we would 10 picks later?
Yeah? Matching a pick 20 bid rates him as a late 20's pick and uses up all our remaining picks effectively for a kid rated by most in the 30's range, a bid at 30 rates him around 40 and pretty much just uses pick 44to match.

Phillips moved out of the fab 5

Yuck. Hes small and looks a poor kick. Im sure Worpel was every bit as good as what ive seen in him. I know he will have immediate impact but not always the best thing.

Size, Speed, Skill i feel if your lacking in 2 of those areas you dont cut it too often
Well he has speed and skill

I think we’ll go cox purely because brand is your lock down full back and Cox is more hybrid.

Need to bid on McInnes at pick 6, force a bid or take him, would rank him higher than most we can take at 8. He's potentially the exact player we've been crying out for in our midfield and he wasn't a collingwood NGA player this wouldn't even be a discussion.

Would be extremely disappointed if we didn't bid at 6 or make a trade with Collingwood for 8, not being fair dinkum at all.

If pies match and Thilthorpe is available he has to be the pick 100%, **** trying to deal with Adelaide, stop trying to be smart and KISS, otherwise Perkins.

****ing lolz at using GWS as a measuring stick, they're literally playing Football Manager with cheats on while everyone else is the dumb cpu with the amount of picks and young talent they have. No other club can do the moves they do and no other club would with out their resources.

But they also knew they were getting a bonus top 10 pick for moving up in Green, so really they didn’t lose much.

There is no way Adelaide are trading a top 3 pick next year PLUS pick 9 this year for pick 6.

That is ludicrous.

Mate you just need to channel your inner doggies for a little bit and suddenly you'll see the wisdom in asking for insane overs, not budging, and having the other side lambasted by the media for being unwilling to play the Alan Bond to your Kerry Packer. Proven formula.
