How does it say this ? Not saying it will not happen but if the Crows took McDonald I do not think it changes anything.

My reasoning would be that they dont give themselves an opportunity to trade up or get him at 9 by keeping this pick. Even considering moving this pick on shows to me that theyll already have him.

I dont think theyd be considering trading this pick which sounds like its very likely to happen if Thilthorpe was any chance to drift

Henry, Campbell and Brunh. None of it makes much practical sense. The concerning thing is it sound exactly like the sort of thing we would commit ourselves to.

Add a new midfield prospect who hasn't done anything since his 16th year to the other new midfield prospect who hasn't done anything since he was in his 17th year.

Select the mid-sized forward with the aim of playing him as a midfielder and the less athletically capable of the two potential talls.

Rinse and repeat.

Bruhn makes sense in that he's very clearly got an outside game.

And let's not pretend that Reid isn't an excellent prospect athletically as well.

There’s definitely a correlation between aps kids and wanting to stay in Victoria.

Not a fan of Knightmare having McCrae to us with our first pick. dont think he provides us with genuine match winning qualities that we desperately need.

He extracts the ball, he's exactly what we need to win games. He's also 186cm so he's a decent sized midfielder. Also his brother is an absolute gun, so why wouldn't we want him in the top 10?

Think Bruhn is going to be an inside mid/half forward flank similar to Caldwell/Parish at AFL level. He may start in a wing like both but im not sure theyre athletic traits suit the wing. Im not sure what his aerobic running and marking is like?

Dodo covers all avenues with this pick instead of being called draftig HFF and trying to turn them into mids.

I prefer the SA lad Powell but thats from a very short video clip and not seeinbg Bruhn at all. The fact the swans are still talking about him at 3 is enough for me to be happy and back our recruiters in

Happens all the time. It was only 10 years ago kids were telling Port not to draft them

Many kids would be telling Adelaide they simply dont want to go there at pick 1/pick 9

I actually think this could be the turn off for some even Vic clubs that attitude.

I guess weve found out why he could slide to pies as so many interstate clubs involved with picks beforehand

Of course this only really happens at the top end of the draft as most kids are just happy to get picked

Agree. Plenty of kids would be happy to go to anywhere just to get a shot and he’s picking and choosing before he’s even in the league. You’ve gotta question his dedication and how bad he “wants it”.

The honesty is nice on one level but watch HQ come out and roast the kid for it

Yeah I'm a bit the same, Has he got that hunger? He's been labelled as laid back off the field with other interests, Compare him to Bruhn who wants to be as good as possible and wants to compete.

See doesnt take much, wouldve spread like wild fire with some extra mayo added on from the right clubs

Probably means even less likelihood of the pies trading both picks now and i reckon they might even be happy to pass on Reef for Perkins if thats an option

I get the feeling North wouldnt like that entitlement at their club, being not a huge club and living by the shinboner motto, he doesnt sound like that type

Reid's not excellent athletic prospect he's on the good side of average maybe good.

Speed is good side of average, 3.17s / 20m, endurance on the good side of average, 6:30 / 2km. Cox's 2.9odds / 20m and 6 flat / 2km is a ridiculously good combination of speed and endurance.

From what I can tell the agility test, something Reid excels at, has no apparent conversion to AFL athleticism for talls who are 10 to 15kgs from their final playing weight.

Cox is otherwise the same as Reid for jumping.

Its very rich from a year of 12 months off and im not sure he exactly proved a heap last year? Other than being very athletically built

If that means you choose to draft him interstate and can't hold onto him in 2 years time then really that's on you as a club as you knew what you were getting into.

That’s my point though it’s only affecting him because he’s probably an entitled little kid. If he grew up in Bendigo with working class parents doubt he’d have the same attitude to moving anywhere to follow his dream.

did the same thing in his draft year. Told GWS that they shouldnt draft him cause he would ask to go back to Adelaide in a couple of years. 2 x AA and a best and fairest later, i think he was a good pick for Port.

I would be stunned if he is the only player to state this to an interstate club. Do you reckon Brisbane would have appreciated such honesty when they drafted Yeo/Docherty/Polec so they could have picked someone else? Absolutely.

He is an 18yo kid. If he trots out the old 'happy to go anywhere' line, where he actually isnt, he is doing everyone a disservice. AFL is a business, clubs are employers. Having a preference of employment is normal.

If he was a 3rd round prospect i have no doubt he would not say that. But he has option at VIC clubs in Essendon and Norf at the worst.
Also, the fact he wants to stay in Vic and goes to Brighton grammar probably isnt grounds to label him spoilt. That an element of his character that you are connecting the dots on.

(a fellow Sandy dragon) told clubs he wanted to stay in Vic and didnt want to go interstate. Sydney drafted him, put the work in, and now hebis a pig in mud up there. It can turn around, it is only a preference.
