Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
Not against trimming the fat though, too many afl players coast through their first couple years, where now they will have to take the opportunity right from the start. Or they’ll find themselves off a list pretty quickly. Not enough saving in rookie cuts.
Personally I would have 40/5/2 but that would involve cutting the top end. We are not the NFL or NBA. We do not have clubs worth billions of dollars. At any given time we have 5 or 6 insolvent clubs. Players salary's should be capped and then a level of outside sponsor deals allowed per club but not organized through clubs. Not against trimming the fat though, too many afl players coast through their first couple years, where now they will have to take the opportunity right from the start. Don’t need that many many on a list. Too many list cloggers get 4-6 years and do nothing.Personally I would have 40/5/2 but that would involve cutting the top end. We are not the NFL or NBA. That has more to do with having a shit list manager more than anything else. Reason why I went those numbers is we need to get away from putting players like Townsend on rookie lists and return them to what they where supposed to be. Spots for players who are under 23 and not been in an AFL system.Don’t need that many many on a list. Too many list cloggers get 4-6 years and do nothing.
Would like to see in regular season what’s the average number of players used. I think you can get away with 42 on a list, but I would’ve gone 38 senior list rather than 36.Plenty of teams use 35+ players in a season, cutting it back like that will really test the depth some sides if they have a bad year with injury.
Is this going to be a permanent change or just for a couple of years until things get back to normal?
It is not the average that you need to look at . There will always be 2 or 3 sides well below the average which brings very ordinary results.Would like to see in regular season what’s the average number of players used. Yeah definitely I agree with you there. But the reason those players last longer is because there are more spots to keep them as clubs hope they come good. Case in point laverde. Every club has a few players on their list that get a couple years too long, when really they are never going to make it.That has more to do with having a sh*t list manager more than anything else. So you cut list sides to avoid your crap list manager clogging your list ?Yeah definitely I agree with you there. I meant case by case go through each club and see how many they use year on year. Be interesting to see how many get used.It is not the average that you need to look at . There will always be 2 or 3 sides well below the average which brings very ordinary results.
Well we used 30 plus.I meant case by case go through each club and see how many they use year on year. Be interesting to see how many get used.
You’re on the Phillips train? Saw some video - can see he’s more powerful and aggressive than others in our midget squad.Going off the latest eDPS updated list if we ended up with pick 6 - 7 and 15-18 (if Daniher goes and Saad to the Tigers)
Then
Thilthorpe
Phillips
Carroll / Trew depending on the final number would be nice.
No you’re are misconstruing my point. I’d prefer for lists to be untouched, but at the same time I believe too many players stay on a list for too long, when the opportunities should be given to kids coming through. Maybe cutting lists for a few years will force clubs to be more ruthless with players that don’t offer much. And I agree with you rookie list shouldn’t be for previous listed players. So you cut list sides to avoid your crap list manager clogging your list ?
If Phillips has a big debut season, we should trade Darcy. You’re on the Phillips train? Saw some video - can see he’s more powerful and aggressive than others in our midget squad.
Faark he’d wanna work out -if Dodo brings in another short ass mid and he either doesn’t make it or is no more physical than the ones we have....
I am as long as we draft another taller midfielder at a later pick. You’re on the Phillips train? Saw some video - can see he’s more powerful and aggressive than others in our midget squad.

I think there was more rotation with condensed fixtures so it might not be that different to having more games. We also had players miss 8 games with a 6 week injury because of it.We used 38 players this year. That number could potentially have been even higher if we had a normal length season.

Is Holland’s a chance to get to us?I am as long as we draft another taller midfielder at a later pick.
if we have 6 & 7 i like Phillips & Trew. If we have a mid teens pick and O'Driscoll is there, grab him too.I am as long as we draft another taller midfielder at a later pick.
No chance imo. Might to slip to 3 at best. Sydney’s pick had we have traded Daniher wouldn't be too bad right nowIs Holland’s a chance to get to us?

Yep!No chance imo. Might to slip to 3 at best. Sydney’s pick had we have traded Daniher wouldn't be too bad right now![]()
