Well, that was a whole lot of nothing. Guess we'll get Kyle Dunkley during the SSP?

Wait, why did WC take Venables again? I thought he retired?
West Coast were trying to get an exemption for him to still be on their list to see if could get over concussions. So I guess they either got the exemption or just decided they should do the right thing and keep him on the list through his rehabilitation

Astute move by Adelaide to nominate JUH. Takes all the pressure off their preferred pick. Pick 1's always have a lot of hype to live up to. Pick 2's get away with anything they like by comparison.

JUH is already all over the front pages, Bulldogs have named a kebab stand after him and the ticker-tape parade through Footscray market is next week. Anything less than a Buddy of a career will be a failure from here.

Whereas Tilthorpe is the local lad, so probably the front of their papers still anyway but without the pressure of a pick #1. So the Crows haven't really lost anything media-wise, just taken a lot of pressure of their guy. THey recruited a bunch of Adelaide kids so much greater chance of keeping them around.

JUH is from Framlingham, which is almost exactly half way between Dartmoor (Jeremy Cameron) and Moggs Creek (Dangerfield). The Dogs would want to hope traffic doesn't pick up on the Princes Freeway over the next few years, or JUH might be inclined to move down the Highway.....

You would hardly be expecting a sub 180cm to have aerial presence. Merrett and Parish have none either.
His impact in a side that can not defend as a team was actually good.
I mean it's quite possible with the right athleticism, Ryan and Elliot stand out as prime examples. Point was that Snelling lacks in just about every attribute an effective outside midfielder should have, yet some still sing his praises? Weird if you ask me.

It had a practical effect as well, wiping all the Dogs selections meant that the crows later picks shot up the order a little, yes it moves everyone else up as well but they were the only ones in control of doing that. Apparently they were desperate for Rowe and that allowed them to get him.

Yeah. They did it because the Dogs were keen on Rowe.

Not really. He was a n our best 10 players most weeks. His role was not outside midfield anyway . It was extra at the stoppage and cover in the defensive zone. The bye product of that was him being able to link up at times.

We only have 1 list spot open as far as im aware?

Which can be PSS or MSD
So we have 43. We can add someone to make it 44, and if we put Mozzie on the inactive list we can add another. Whether that be through the SSP or MSD is up to us.

Stoked with how the draft went.

Doubt we will need to worry about KPPs for a while. Would like that fantasy of a big inside mid to come true next year though.

Dunkley still on the radar for next year for sure I reckon. Not sure Bruhn is that big bodied mid that would've made a difference to be honest so I liked what we did. Other than Hollands and Perkins there wasn't much around in the top 10 in terms of big bodied mids.
Not much else we could've done imo.
Caldwell will take in some of that grunt work in the middle along with Parish. Hopefully both have solid pre-seasons in the weights room.
Bruhn is a small outside mid I think, like Zach Merrett. We could have taken Powell or ODriscoll. I'm okay with Reid.

Dodo mentions a couple of times that we’re thinking long term with our drafting. I’m very heartened to hear that. No more shortcuts.

Bruhn will end up an inside mid hes very good around the stoppages but he will probably need a big bullocking mid alongside him

I really like what i see in Powell aswell plus he had the runs on the board this hear which i thought mightve come into the thinking

Think there's maybe a few next year plus can also make another play for Dunkley. Perkins could grow into that sort of role as well. If there was a clear big bodied well regarded mid available at 10 then it would've been good to get him but I don't think there was an obvious choice so rather us look long term and plug as many holes as possible whilst looking to the future.
